Divine Awakening: My Game Drops Increase Infinitely

Chapter 85 : Legacy of War and Conquest

Axton was likely yet to notice it, but he was starting to spend more time in New Eden than he did in the real world.

What had started as a game had slowly become something else — something deeper, heavier.

The thin line between virtual and reality had begun to blur.

The air in New Eden felt more alive than the one he breathed in his cramped apartment.

That was why, when he saw the message he had been waiting for, he didn't hesitate for even a second.

He shot up from his bed, his eyes sharp with anticipation, and immediately logged in.

Ding!

[Welcome back to New Eden, Player Khan.]

The familiar blue light enveloped him as his vision warped and refocused.

When the light faded, he was standing in the bustling streets of Atlas City.

Merchants shouted prices.

Smiths hammered away in their forges.

The chatter of adventurers echoed from the taverns.

Everything looked as it should be yet for Axton, the city carried a different kind of weight now.

He was no longer just another player.

He was Commander Khan, head of the City Watch, the man who had slain Commander Bismarck and rewritten Atlas' power structure overnight.

As he adjusted his cloth, footsteps approached.

"Sir Khan," a soldier called out, saluting quickly. "We've located the man you were looking for… Guja. He's waiting at the Black Stag Inn."

Axton's lips curved into a faint smile. "Finally," he muttered under his breath.

He had been waiting for this moment since he received the message from the village chief.

Every lead he had chased turned into dust, every search came up empty. Yet now, the man had revealed himself.

"Lead the way," Axton ordered.

The soldier nodded and guided him through the crowded streets. They moved past the main market, slipping into narrower lanes where the sound of life faded into muffled echoes.

The Black Stag Inn sat in one of the quieter corners of Atlas — a modest wooden building, but its backrooms were known to be discreet.

The guard led him inside, past the bustling front hall where adventurers laughed over mugs of ale, and through a narrow hallway toward a back door. Axton noticed how few people seemed to pay attention to them.

'Just as I ordered,' he thought. 'Good. No one should know about this meeting.'

When they entered the back room, Axton's gaze immediately fell on the lone man sitting by a round table.

He looked… ordinary.

His hair was unkempt, and his armor looked worn, as though he hadn't seen battle in months.

A mug of beer sat untouched before him. But what stood out was the stillness around him. An unnerving calm that didn't match the tension in the air.

"Are you Guja?" Axton asked, stepping closer, his tone calm but firm.

The man raised his eyes slowly.

A small, knowing smile crept across his lips, and he remained silent for a long moment before finally answering.

"Yes," he said quietly. "And I know you've been looking for me."

Axton pulled out a chair and sat across from him, studying him closely.

Guja didn't seem intimidated by the half-dozen soldiers surrounding the room. If anything, he seemed amused.

"You don't seem surprised," Axton noted.

"I'm not." Guja took a slow sip from his mug, then continued, "I revealed myself willingly. I saw your duel with Commander Bismarck. You impressed me, Commander Khan. Not many could stand against him, let alone win."

Axton's eyes narrowed slightly.

'He saw the duel… yet I never sensed him anywhere near the arena. Which means he was within Atlas the entire time.'

That realization sent a quiet chill down his spine. To hide his presence like that…

'He's stronger than I thought.'

And he was right.

Guja's true level was 50, far surpassing Bismarck's strength.

The man wasn't someone who could simply be tracked down — he had allowed himself to be found.

Axton reached into his cloth and drew out a tightly rolled parchment.

He laid it on the table between them.

"The village chief told me to find you," he said. "This letter bears his mark."

Guja took the parchment and began to read. His eyes moved slowly, carefully, as though weighing each word.

When he finished, he let out a quiet hum.

"Hmm…"

The sound made Axton curious, but he held his tongue.

Guja's face remained unreadable for several seconds. Then, finally, he smiled faintly.

He leaned back in his chair, his gaze flicking briefly toward the soldiers in the room. That glance was enough for Axton to understand.

"Leave us," Axton ordered. "Now."

The soldiers exchanged quick glances but obeyed, stepping out and closing the door behind them. The quiet that followed felt heavier than before.

Once they were alone, Guja set the parchment down and exhaled softly.

"Ahem…" He cleared his throat, his eyes locking onto Axton's. "So… you want to become one of us."

"One of you?" Axton echoed, leaning forward slightly.

"The Demolishers," Guja said. "Those who inherit the will of destruction and conquest."

His tone was steady, almost solemn. "But to gain what you seek, you must first prove your worth. There are trials, missions if you may, that test your resolve. Only then will the path open before you."

"I'm ready," Axton replied without hesitation.

Guja's eyes flickered with faint amusement. "We'll see."

*Ding*

[You have awakened a special quest.]

[Mission Objectives:]

[1. Eliminate 10 Grade 4 monsters]

[2. Eliminate 1 Grade 5 Boss monster]

[Time Limit: 24 Hours]

[Penalty: Failure to complete the mission will prevent you from leveling up.]

Axton's lips curved upward as he read through the quest notifications.

"This is… easy," he murmured, his confidence showing through.

Guja chuckled softly. "Easy, you say?"

"I've faced worse," Axton replied. "Grade 4 and 5 monsters aren't enough to make me sweat."

He wasn't wrong.

With his strength, gear, and the new abilities unlocked from his previous victories, those monsters were no longer a real threat.

The challenge would lie in finding them quickly, especially within the time limit.

But Guja didn't look convinced. He clasped his hands together and leaned forward, his expression turning serious.

"The way of the Demolisher is not for the faint of heart. It's a legacy born of endless war. Do you understand what that means, Khan?"

Axton's brow furrowed. "A legacy?"

"Yes," Guja said. "The Legacy of the God of War and Conquest."

The words hit Axton like a hammer.

His mind went blank for a second.

'The God of War and Conquest?'

That name… he had read it once before, buried deep in an ancient lore entry about the old gods of New Eden. A being said to have once torn down kingdoms with his bare hands, whose followers wielded power that could raze mountains. Most players treated it as a myth.

But here was Guja, speaking of it as a reality.

"Wait," Axton said slowly, his tone cautious. "You mean… this Demolisher path—"

"—is the living remnant of his legacy," Guja interrupted. "Those who walk this path inherit fragments of his will. Strength beyond imagination, but at a cost."

Axton's heart thumped louder.

A legacy quest.

That meant this wasn't just an ordinary class advancement.

This was something greater — something that could change the course of his entire progression in New Eden.

"What kind of cost?" he asked.

Guja smiled faintly, his eyes gleaming under the dim light. "You'll find out soon enough. But I'll give you a hint. Every step forward requires something in return. The God of War and Conquest was not a merciful deity. His gifts come at the price of blood, rage, and loss."

The silence that followed was suffocating.

For a moment, Axton's thoughts drifted back to the people he had already lost.

Guja stood up slowly, finishing the last sip of his drink.

"When you're ready, head north of Atlas. There's a ravine beyond the forest. That's where you'll find your targets. But be warned, Commander, once you start this path, there's no turning back."

Axton rose from his seat as well, his eyes locked with Guja's.

"I wasn't planning to."

Guja smiled once more, that same unreadable smile from before, and walked past him, disappearing into the corridor.

The faint sound of the door closing behind him echoed like a bell.

Axton looked at the parchment on the table one last time, then clenched his fist.

[Quest Accepted.]

His path forward was clear.

The Legacy of the God of War and Conquest had revealed itself and Axton was about to step into a destiny that would either make him invincible… or destroy him completely.
