"Oh? Such courage?" Li Ling was surprised by how these fellows were completely unbothered.

Even if he was hiding his Foundation Establishment Perfection to lure people in, just as that first Foundation Establishment Ancestor assessed, Li Ling seemed to be either a top level Qi Refinement disciple who could punch above his level slightly, or a full fledged second realm qi cultivator, to be able to fly so high and so smoothly.

And these fellows were remnants of the lower sects here who lacked the same level of daoist arts, depth of knowledge, experience and foundational techniques as him, so where did they get the courage from?

Li Ling was interested in finding out as he called the Blood Drinking Spear back and grasped it in hand. Even though the Spear Will worked perfectly fine through spirit sense, it was even better when held directly in hand and used in direct combat for obvious reasons.

The formation the blonde disciple and his group took saw them split into three fronts and five inclined angles, looking like an extremely stretched out 'W'. At the apex of the middle prong was the blonde fellow and each key spot at the junction of each prong was filled with a fellow Foundation Establishment cultivator while the rest who made up the body were the Qi Refinement disciples.

Immediately, the area around them began to warp as they took on the form of a thick three colored cloud that seemed to drift aimlessly in the air, giving one the feeling of being within a heady dream.

Li Ling flourished his spear and pierced out in a sudden movement of speed, using his Mountain Splitting Blade as a carrier through the Perfected Spirit Sense Control technique, the full force of his max level Mortal Flesh Blood Qi attached to the spear's body.

"Cloud Barrier!" the blonde shouted out heroically as he waved his hand, causing a waft of the ethereal cloud to block Li Ling's attack.

Li Ling was amazed when the Blood Drinking Spear was actually stopped by the Cloud Barrier after piercing deeply within, like using a toothpick to pierce a piece of rubber. However, this only accounted for the physical force of his attack, the insidious Blood Qi was the true killer that made the Asura Blood disciples so fearsome.

Immediately, like a red flame, it ignited all over the Cloud Barrier, corroding it into a black ash that dissipated into the sky piece by piece, causing the faces of those within the formation to change.

Blondie waved his arm and let the ruined piece fall off without affecting the rest of the formation, but his expression was ugly.

"We can't afford to defend only! We have to also attack and deplete his strength!" One of the other Foundation Establishment practitioners in the formation beside Blondie said seriously.

"That's right, let's use that method!" Blondie agreed with a solemn glance at Li Ling, who did not make a second attack.

The righteous cultivator group then channeled their spiritual energy freely into the formation as Blondie made a hand sign, making Li Ling's eyebrows rise and his casual expression disappear.

"Bright Sword: Divine Slice!" Blondie roared, the channeled spiritual energy forming a giant semi-translucent blade similar to a greatsword that was large enough to cleave a small hill in twain.

The blade then slashed down with unparalleled might, causing the ground to already show cracks before it was even halfway through its swing.

Li Ling shouted and thrust out the Blood Drinking Spear with his full power, attaching the full extent of his body cultivation and Blood Qi to the tip, colliding with the edge of the Bright Sword Manifestation.

KLINK!

The sound of glass breaking sounded out in the area as the Blood Drinking Spear, which had followed Li Ling since number 9 marketplace, was shattered from tip to end, causing the young man to spew out a mouthful of blood as his Sea of Consciousness was slightly damaged due to the backlash of losing such a deeply refined weapon.

But that was only the beginning of his problems as his Asura Blood Qi, while powerful and extremely pure for its level, even able to fight against lower forms of Magic Power, was easily dispersed by the Bright Sword as if it had met its nemesis. On top of that, the giant white blade had only lost a third of its power, the remaining amount bearing down on Li Ling, destined to slice him in two.

"Perish, demonic sect scum!" Blondie roared as he imbued more power into the slash, making it inescapable for Li Ling, who was smashed down into the earth, causing a minor earthquake in the plains below.

KRAKOOM!

As the rest of the parties were in flight, they couldn't feel the aftereffects of the quake, though the large dust could prevent them from seeing what happened below. However, they were confident that they did not need to see, as the outcome of being hit by that slash was even fatal for an unprepared Core Formation cultivator, much less a mere Path Walker at the Mortal Flesh level.

"Wow!"

"Amazing job Senior Brother!"

"Hahaha, that evil guy is now gone!"

"Another scourge put to rest!"

The group from the Cloud Dream Sect rejoiced happily cheering and making high fives with each other. Meanwhile, Blondie and the other Foundation Establishment fellows used their spirit sense to bring over the frightened Demon Hawk that carried the five captured beauties.

"Junior Sisters, I am sorry for being late. If I had been there to take down this bastard, none of you would have had to suffer such misfortune." Blondie said in a deep and remorseful tone to the five.

These young ladies, who had witnessed the annihilation of their clans, groups or family, were both shocked and delighted, their hearts surging with deep feelings for this handsome blonde fellow who brought light back into their lives when they were in the clutches of evil.

Hearing him admit his fault, they even more felt that this was what a real man should be like, and their faces couldn't help but become tearful at the thought of being free. Though, the problem they faced now was that they had nowhere to go after those closest to them had been wrongfully killed by that monster.

Blondie seemed to realize this and spoke gently. "If you are not sure of what to do next, why not follow me? I will find a way to get us out of this hell hole and when we do, you can choose to join my sect."

This proposal deeply moved the young ladies, because now at least they had somewhere to take shelter while they sorted out their next steps.

Before the young lady seated at the front of the group, who was the one with the strongest background as the daughter of the clan leader from the previous clan Li Ling annihilated, could agree on their behalf, there was the sound of a sci-fi like vibrating blade cutting through the air, and then a soft squelching sound.

Right in front of Blondie, who was still wearing a gentle smile, the five young ladies had their heads gracefully removed from their necks, falling down to the side the next moment as blood spurted from their now empty throats into the sky like a fountain.

｢System Prompt: You have gained 35 Slaughter Points.｣

Blondie's expression froze in place while his compatriots were also stunned, not having expected this outcome at all. Meanwhile, on the ground, the dust cloud that blocked everyone's vision slowly cleared to reveal a handsome young man rising out of a crater, his body dusty but completely unharmed.

The only thing was that his ponytail had been slashed open, his long blue hair now fell across his shoulders gracefully, making his disposition seem even more sinister than before without a hint of the expected femininity.

"How ungrateful. I was going to give them a new life as some fat dudes' sex toys, but they actually rejoiced when I 'died'." Li Ling remarked rudely, speaking casually, yet his words were piercing to those above despite the physical distance between them.

Blondie's face warped into one of pure fury, his eyes becoming bloodshot. "You… You bastard!! How dare you kill them like this?! What did they do to deserve such a fate?!"

His group of disciples also showed furious expressions full of hate, as if they had watched their own loved ones killed before them. Meanwhile, Li Ling was casually pulling out a new band to tie his hair, looking at the righteous sect group with a hint of confusion.

"Did you not hear? Or are you mentally deficient?" He replied with pity, shaking his head.

"There's no point in exchanging words with such a beast Senior Brother! Let's just kill him to avenge those Junior Sisters from before!" Another Foundation Establishment fellow disciple said to Blondie with bloodshot eyes, to which Blondie agreed wholeheartedly.

Making the same hand sign as before, he recreated the Bright Sword Manifestation and pointed downwards with a cold look, not even shouting the name of his attack in a childish way like before.

The sword swung cruelly with its full power towards Li Ling on the ground, and the sheer sight of it would have caused most to kneel on the ground in terror from the sight of a giant white sword cleaving down towards you like heaven's judgment.

However, Li Ling remained doing up his hair, not even looking towards the attack, even as it struck!

PENG!

But rather than hear the sound of flesh being cleaved in two, they only heard the sound of metal breaking. In a sight that shocked these righteous sect cultivators to their bones, the Bright Sword Manifestation conjured by their collective spiritual qi was stuck at the end of its swing, inches away from the head of Li Ling.

What stopped it was a familiar daoist art that was one of the most common in the cultivation world, the Foundation Establishment metal element defensive spell, the Golden Blockade!

However, none of these fellows had ever seen a Golden Blockade so well developed, looking less like a conjuration and more like an actual real magic artifact, nor had they seen one so sturdy.

Because this ornate Golden Blockade had completely blocked their own daoist art like an adult catching the punch of a child, unable to even move a single step forward.

SHINK-SHINK-KLINK!

But that was not all, as the group of righteous sect cultivators gazed on with horror as the giant white sword slowly began to develop cracks from the point of collision that slowly spread across its body in stages, eventually enveloping it from tip to hilt.

Then it shattered the next moment, like inferior glass being struck head on, its parts dropping to the ground and then turning into motes of light that drifted away with the wind!

At this time, Li Ling had finally finished casually tying his hair up, patting it into shape as he began to speak in a smarmy tone.

"Now I see how women feel on the daily, long hair really is such a pain. Also, I wondered how the top righteous sects would feel about Wars of Annihilation happening around the continent, and it is clear that you lot are their answer." Li Ling remarked with a chuckle at the end.

He then turned to Blondie and his crew who were wearing appalled expressions, not easily reconciling the reality of the situation, an amused yet malevolent expression on his face.

"Isn't that right, fellow daoists from the Bright Sword Sect?" Li Ling questioned with a cold grin, his eyes flashing with coldness as he scanned Blondie.

Remarks: This 'blondie' is actually one of the Sword Carriers of the Bright Sword Sect, the equivalent of your own sect's Path Lords. He took on a task from his sect to infiltrate this region during the initial outbreak of the war and take over one of the local sects with the task of killing as many demonic sect disciples as he could. Like most righteous sect disciples sent from top righteous factions to infiltrate, he has a grade 4 Void Breaking talisman that will allow him to teleport safely out of the blockade when things get hot, so don't count on being able to stop him easily.｣
