---------------------------------

[First day and you already have a girlfriend. Smooth.]

'I'm not even going to comment on that system, ' Orion said internally.

They walked into the building, and as expected, the interior was even more glamorous than the exterior. The hallways were lined with beautiful, glowing chandeliers and a neat, regally designed carpet to walk on.

At the far end of the hall was a counter with a single person manning it. She had an easy-going smile on her face, one that said she was experienced with customer service.

The two families walked up to her,

"Patriarch, Master Aurelius, Lady Eira", She greeted with a bow and an excited smile.

Orion could understand her thought process already; it wasn't every day one saw the patriarch.

They just nodded back at her.

"This is where we part ways, young man", Erevan turned to Orion and said with a reluctant smile.

"Remember all that we discussed, it isn't going to be easy, but I'm sure you'll be alright," Erevan said.

"It's going to be a while before we see each other again. I can't wait to see how you've grown", Erevan said, patting Orion's head.

"Don't get sentimental on me, old man, I'm not sure I'm the one that needs the reassurance that it will be alright", Orion said with a chuckle.

Erevan laughed back before raising his fist in front of Orion.

Orion smiled before fist-bumping him.

"I see you didn't forget", Orion said.

"Of course not," Erevan said.

"Your luggage will be delivered to your quarters, you'll be led there when you are done," Erevan said, before turning around and walking away.

He stopped midway and turned back, " And try to take it easy on them, Orion", He said before leaving with Aurelius and Eira.

Orion felt someone tapping him.

"Are you ready?" Seris asked.

"Yes," Orion replied.

They both turned to the attendant who was waiting.

"Hello, my name is Alira, and I'll be responsible for you this afternoon." She said with a smile.

"Welcome to the Chronos Academy. I hope you are prepared because it's going to be a long and fulfilling journey." She said with a smile.

"Now, I understand you are eager to get started, but today is simply for registering and temporary lodging." She said, bringing out two bundles of documents with pens attached.

"Please fill these out while I provide further information." She said, handing it to them.

Orion looked through it; it seemed simple enough, so he began filling out the required information.

"Today is the deadline for all new entries into the academy, with the academic curriculum starting in full in two days. In two days, you'll be having elimination trials and thereafter Orientation, where you'll be introduced to the facilities provided and the classes required of you." She said.

"Elimination trials?" Seris asked.

"Yes, exactly ten thousand new entries are allowed into the academy every year, but this academy hosts a maximum amount of twenty thousand students, that is, five thousand per year." She said.

"So, they're cutting us down to just five thousand," Orion stated.

"Exactly," Alira replied.

"So the five thousand left will have their orientation before they begin their classes," Alira said.

"And what exactly is the trial comprised of?" Seris asked.

"That is confidential information, and it varies every year," Alira replied.

"Now, for the lodging. I'm sure on your way here, you've noticed the difference between each part of the academy, they are referred to as Magnums, from 1 to 3, with our present location being Magnum 1." She said.

"The magnums are a representation of the 'might makes right' rule. Students are divided and placed based and their capacity and ranking in the academy." She said.

"The better you are, the more privileged you are, so the competition is quite high. This is another reason for the elimination trial, it-"

"Determines our ranking", Orion finished.

"Yes," She said with a smile.

"So you are urged to do your best. Of course, the ranking isn't stagnant; complacency will result in demotion."

"Further information on the elimination trial will be provided later."

"Regular entries will also be informed of all this, after which they will seek lodging in magnum 2 and 3, as for you both, as a courtesy to the respected individuals of the Chronos family, you'll be allowed to lodge in Magnum 1; subsequent lodging would require outstanding performance in the trial."

"Unnecessary conflict within this period will lead to expulsion without partaking in the trial, so you are advised to be on your best behaviour."

"Information about your lodge will be provided when you get there."

"I believe I have passed on all the information required of me. Do you have any questions?" She asked.

At this point, they had both finished filling out the documents, so they handed them back.

"Since the trial is happening the day after tomorrow, are we expected to do anything tomorrow?" Seris asked.

"You are free to do whatever you wish tomorrow, but your seniors will be arriving tomorrow; therefore, I personally advise you to step out and try to relate with them," she replied.

"Are we the first to arrive?" Orion asked.

"Thousands are being inspected and informed as we speak, but if you are referring to other privileged like yourselves, you both are the 22nd and 23rd to arrive." She replied.

"So, I'm guessing our lodge is going to be mostly empty", Orion said with a sigh.

"Yes, but others will keep arriving as the day goes by," Alira said.

And as if to affirm her words, they heard another carriage pulling up in front.

"If you have no further questions, simply place your hands on the counter and you'll be transferred to your lodge." She said.

Two glowing sigils appeared on the counter where they would place their hands.

"This is for females and the other for males." She stated while pointing at them.

"Wait, we are getting separated?" Seris asked with a raised brow.

Alira laughed.

"Yes, but if you wish to meet each other, you can after getting settled in. And as the patriarch mentioned, your luggage will be available at your lodging." She explained.

They both nodded before placing their hands on the sigil.

"I wish you the best of luck," Alira said with a smile.
