Orion reappeared on a smooth marble platform etched with soft blue lines. His feet touched down as the teleportation residue dissolved around him. Selene materialised a few steps away, adjusting her uniform with automatic precision. Seris reformed mid-stretch, nearly losing her balance. Caelum emerged with a sigh, as if the teleportation itself were exhausting.
Around them, students blinked rapidly, steadying themselves, checking their new bracelets, or simply looking around in awe.
The academy was vast.
The week ahead was theirs.
"So, does anybody already have what department they'll choose in mind?" Seris asked as they all started walking away from the platform.
Orion turned to her, "Do you?"
Seris flashed a smile. "Oh dear Orion, I haven't told you this, but I'm not very good with books."
"You say that like it's something to be proud of," Caelum said, rolling his eyes.
Seris just shrugged," Of course I'm not proud of it, but I'm not gonna deny it."
"Surely, you all have something you're not good at or you don't like." Seris pressed.
"Well, I don't know. There are a lot of things I haven't tried, but with everything I've tried so far, I'd say none." Orion replied with his head tilted.
Seris just shook her head, "Yeah, I don't believe."
Orion just shrugged.
"What about you, Selene? I'm sure you'll be honest with me." Seris said, grabbing Selene's hand.
Selene stared at Seris before sighing.
"Well, I'm not very good at cleaning. I tried assisting the maids one time, and it all went awry." She replied, with a frown on her face.
"Pfft..Hahaha"
Caelum, beside them, burst into laughter.
"Wait, what…what happened. Was it that bad?" Seris pressed, seeing Caelum struggling to hold back his laughter.
Selene turned to glare at her twin.
Caelum did his best to avoid her gaze.
"You're the one who brought it up," Caelum shrugged with his hands in the air.
Orion leaned in. "Ok, now, even I'm curious to know what happened."
"Yes..yes, say it!" Seris pressed, shaking Selene's hand.
"It's nothing, young master, it went awry, let's just leave it at that," Selene replied, increasing her pace.
"Wait, no! Come back!!" Seris chased after her, "You can't just say something that'd make boring old Caelum laugh like that and expect us not to know what the details are!"
Orion just turned to the smiling Caelum, seeing how Seris's last statement wiped the smile off his face.
"Was it that bad?" Orion asked.
Caelum just nodded back, amusement glinting in his eyes.
They both increased their pace to catch up with the girls.
"Alright, Seris, leave her alone, if she doesn't want to share, don't pester her," Orion said, dragging the already frustrated Seris back.
"But!" Seris tried to protest.
"Leave her alone, Seris. We have other things to worry about." Orion said, though he knew deep down, she wasn't going to forget this.
Seris just sighed, "Fine.."
"Good, so Seris is going for the Combat department, and without a doubt, so am I," Orion said.
"Nice, I get a chance to steal your spot," Seris said with a raised fist.
"You get the same chance no matter my department, Seris, at least I think so, if not they'd most likely have announced the separation of grades." Orion reasoned.
"Whatever you say, I'm still going to beat you." Seris declared.
"I'm going for CD", Caelum announced.
Orion turned to him. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, wherever you choose. I'll be there." Caelum replied without missing a beat.
Orion just sighed, "Caelum, I understand the sentiment, but you really shouldn't make such decisions based on that."
Caelum's brows furrowed " These aren't decisions I made based on sentiment; they're based on my duty. I don't think you should doubt them unless you want to question my duty."
Orion just put his hands in the air, "CD it is."
"Duty, what duty?" Seris asked, perplexed.
Orion just turned to Selene. "I noticed you seemed fascinated by the SD courses. Are you going for that?" Orion asked.
"My brother has given the appropriate answer to that question, young master. Besides, we have the opportunity of picking two scholar courses, that's enough to satisfy my interest." Selene replied.
Orion just sighed before deciding not to bother himself with this duo anymore; it was only serving as a waste of time.
"Is no one going to answer!!-" Seris started, but Selene just placed a hand on her mouth.
"I'll explain when we return to our dorm," Selene said, patting Seris's head.
Seris' eyes widened before she reluctantly nodded,
"Good," Selene said before removing her hand.
Orion and Caelum just watched with wide eyes as Selene shut the loudmouth up.
"Young master, I believe you were about to say something." Selene urged.
Orion just nodded, "Right, since we've all decided our departments, we don't really need any counselling, though we can attend the tutorial classes. But we'd still have a lot of free time this week."
They all paused.
Orion continued, "I'd love to continue training, but we're definitely going to have a lot of that once classes fully start. I'm thinking we do something we might not have time for when we begin."
"You're right." Caelum acknowledged.
"We can try to relate with the seniors, Miss Rhaena said We could get a lot of info from our seniors," Seris said.
"We could tour the campus, we aren't just restricted to Magnum 1 after all, and I'm sure there'd be plenty of other facilities in the other Magnums." Caelum reasoned.
Selene put her finger on her chin. "I think we should attend all the tutorial lectures to get to know most of the instructors, considering a new one would come every day."
Seris turned to her with a weird expression. "Every day?"
Orion just stared at all of them "I was thinking library."
Seris turned back to him, " You want to spend our precious break before hell in a library." She asked with a frown.
Orion just shrugged,
Seris just shook her head, "Definitely not."
"Are you all thinking what I'm thinking?" Orion asked.
"Oh, we're definitely splitting up."
