Running A Cemetery in North America

Chapter 129: Peninsula Investigation Shrouded in Doubt (Part 2)

It is precisely because Peninsula scholars connect Changbai Mountain with the "Danjun Myth" that some Peninsula people nowadays regard the Northeast Region of the Mainland as the territory of their so-called "Ancient Peninsula."

This "Records of the Three Kingdoms" does not refer to the Three Kingdoms at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, but is a book written in ancient Chinese by a Goryeo monk in the 1280s.

It mainly tells the unofficial histories of Goryeo, Baekje, and Silla, and also includes many supernatural historical tales and legends.

The book mentions a person called Dan-gun, named Wang Jian, who is the first founding monarch of the Peninsula, and is said to be the son of the Sun God Huan Xiong and a Bear Woman from the Human World.

Legend has it that Dan-gun established the "Ancient Peninsula Country - Danjun Peninsula" in 2333 BC, meaning "Land of the Tranquil Dawn," with its capital at Pyongyang, which is why Pyongyang is also known as Wangxian City.

Dan-gun reigned for 1500 years, then retired to Asda as the Mountain God, living until the age of 1908. In 1993, the Peninsula claimed to have unearthed Dan-gun's corpse bone, asserting unilaterally the historical existence of this Peninsula monarch.

Thus, Dan-gun can also be considered the only recorded unknown divine spirit of the Peninsula.

Danjun Mountain, located on the 38th parallel, is a mountain range shared by both the North and South Peninsula, and is said to be the Peninsula's foremost geomantic treasure land.

Those who can bury their ancestors in Danjun Mountain are all historically renowned powerful families of the Peninsula.

At this moment, a young man and woman walked along the mountain path of Danjun Mountain, holding a compass and constantly observing their surroundings.

"Why was Park Guochang's ancestor able to be buried in Danjun Mountain, when it didn't align with the situation at that time?" the man asked puzzled.

"Back when the Peninsula was invaded by Japan, everyone was under Japan's rule. Park Guochang's family cooperated with the Ikegawa Family, and not only were they not weakened, but they quickly accumulated wealth through trading with Japan, becoming a famous great family of the Peninsula.

Even after Japan withdrew its troops, the Park family stepped down in the open, but secretly still held the economic lifeline and much of the power of the Peninsula, domestically only the Three Stars could compare to the Park family."

The woman explained, clearly indicating she knew quite a lot of inside information.

The man was suddenly perplexed and said, "Why are we still helping this kind of traitor? His son being possessed is just what he deserves."

"Ah, shi-…"

As soon as the woman heard this, she angrily knocked her companion on the head with her fist.

The other gasped, holding his head and angrily cursed, "Damn it, Jin Yuanying, are you crazy?"

"Gao Yinhao, I advise you to be aware of your role, we are shamans, working for wealthy people, solving their problems to earn rewards, that's our job, get rid of those thoughts in your head, so I don't get angry looking at you."

Jin Yuanying looked towards the location on the mountainside and said calmly, "It should be there, let's go take a look."

Ordinarily, no one is allowed to enter Danjun Mountain; the perimeter is guarded by the army. If it weren't for Park Guochang having made arrangements, these two would not have been able to reach this position as smoothly today.

Passing through a forest that had been dead for who knows how many years, they soon arrived at a flat clearing.

They saw a triangular tomb standing in the clearing. Although there was an epitaph on the tomb, it didn't have any inscriptions, making this nameless tombstone appear very eerie.

Approaching the tomb, Jin Yuanying began to examine the feng shui of the place, and gradually her expression turned somewhat strange.

"How could Park Guochang's ancestral tomb be buried in such a place? The wind path is blocked, water flows past, lacking wood and lifeless, this is fundamentally a bad place."

Gao Yinhao looked around and saw that every tree around was dead, their trunks black and covered with cracks, clearly devoid of life for a long time.

The condition of the trees in this forest indicated that there was definitely some sort of problem.

"So what now? Should we dig up the tomb? Perhaps the problem with Park Guochang's son lies with his ancestor's coffin underground."

"Yes, we already talked to Park Guochang about it, he said it's okay, as long as we don't open the coffin, we can confirm the situation and then fill back the soil."

Jin Yuanying immediately took a disassembled military shovel out of her backpack and quickly assembled it into a shovel, found an appropriate auspicious spot, and began to dig.

Gao Yinhao joined in the digging with the same movements, and with their combined efforts, they soon exposed a coffin covered in black mud with a gap dug at the tomb.

Jin Yuanying's pupils trembled, her face instantly turning serious.

Unlike normal burials, the Park family's ancestral tomb was placed upright.

"Jin Yuanying, look."

Gao Yinhao stepped forward, and with his hand retrieved an oval coin embedded in the wood on the coffin's surface.

On the surface of this coin were horizontal lines, and its weight was quite significant when held, likely exceeding three taels.

Just selling this coin could fetch a considerable sum of money.

"This is..."

As Jin Yuanying moved closer to examine the coin closely, a flower-patterned snake with a woman's head suddenly crawled out from the tomb and fiercely attacked Gao Yinhao's ankle.

Fortunately, both of them, having done plenty of work for employers in the mountains, reacted and were highly alert.

At the moment the serpent attacked, Gao Yinhao instinctively raised his engineer shovel and slashed it towards the snake's body.

Crack!

The sharp military shovel cleaved into the ground, cutting the snake in two.

"Screech!!!!!!"

A sharp cry echoed from the snake's mouth, reverberating through the forest.

Gao Yinhao and Jin Yuanying felt a sharp pain in their ears and quickly covered them; in just a moment, blood was already flowing from their ears.

"What was that?" Gao Yinhao asked in fear, looking at the snake on the ground now split in two.

"A Wet Woman, this matter is not simple."

Jin Yuanying calmly took a tissue from her pocket and wiped the blood from her ears.

"Someone did something to Park Guochang's ancestral tomb, and this is what caused his child to be possessed at birth."

Jin Yuanying took the elliptical coin from Gao Yinhao's hand, weighing it thoughtfully, "We should go back and investigate the origin of this coin, perhaps we can trace the culprit."

After refilling the gap in the Park family's ancestral tomb with soil, the two quickly departed.

...

Late at night, in the mansion of Park Guochang.

Holding a glass of wine, Park Guochang stood in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window listening to the vinyl music playing from the phonograph, swaying his body in enjoyment.

After solving the problem of his child's possession, a weight was lifted off his heart, and he felt much more at ease.

But as he suddenly recalled Sun Yan's words from earlier in the day, his face darkened in an instant.

Clenching the wine glass tightly, Park Guochang downed it in one go and spoke to his own reflection in the glass, viciously muttering, "Ikegawa Hideyuki, it's most likely you are behind this in the shadows, isn't it? Although your Ikegawa Family discovered that place first,

without my grandfather's wisdom, you couldn't have uncovered the real secret underneath there. Our Park family has managed that place for decades, and now there's no reason to just hand it back to your Ikegawa Family, so get that idea out of your head, damn dog of Japan."

"Hehehe, hahaha! My Park family will only become richer, while your Ikegawa Family is destined to decline into remnants of history."

The study echoed with Park Guochang's laughter, as though he remembered something that pleased him greatly.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Just then, the door suddenly sounded with a knock.

Park Guochang immediately curbed his smile and solemnly asked, "What is it?"

"Sir, Mr. Jackson called saying he's made a new discovery and wants to talk to you now."

"Jackson? Alright, I'll be over soon." Park Guochang responded nonchalantly, heading towards the door.

But at this moment, the phone on his desk suddenly rang, and Park Guochang, about to open the door, returned first to answer the phone.

"Hello, what's the matter?"

Surprisingly, it was Sun Yan's voice on the other end.

"Don't open the door, what's outside is not human."

Over the phone, Sun Yan coldly reminded him, causing Park Guochang's face to change drastically, a chill running down his spine as he looked towards the door which was still being knocked.

Knock! Knock! Knock!
