[Mage of Oblivion (Unique Hidden Class)]
[Tier: 1 → 2]
[Class Passive #1: All your magic damage is multiplied by 15 → 20.]
[Class Passive #2: Your MP recovery is multiplied by 15 → 20.]
[Class Passive #3: All your spells' cooldowns are reduced by half.]
---
'Perfect.'
It didn't look like much.
In fact, compared to some other classes, it might even seem bland.
But to Stark, this was more than enough.
His damage multiplier increased again and his mana recovery grew even stronger as he would need it in the future.
He didn't gain a new passive just yet, that would come further down the line, but that didn't matter.
His strength had risen tremendously from this one tier increase.
Every spell he had would now hit harder.
With that, Stark was done checking everything.
He had survived the [First Calamity], completed his [Advancement Task], and evolved his class to Tier 2.
Now there was only one goal left. Kill monsters.
He would grind until he hit level 30, because that would allow him to finally step into the [Demonic Ruins] and complete Olikar's quest.
Afterward, at level 40, he would be able to enter the [Land of Mist].
That place… it would be the most dangerous global zone so far.
Even more dangerous than the [First Calamity].
But Stark wanted it.
He wanted to reach the [Land of Mist] because that was when he could finally unlock his first bloodline.
Bloodlines were special.
They could physically enhance someone, grant new skills, unlock abilities, and push a player far beyond normal limits.
Weak players became strong. Strong players became monsters.
And the bloodline Stark was aiming for was one of the strongest early-game bloodlines in existence: the [Spirit Devourer].
Of course, it wasn't free.
To get it, he would need to kill the strongest monster in the [Land of Mist].
The problem was, Stark didn't know the exact method to reach it yet.
'Hm.'
He pushed that thought aside for now.
There would be time to figure it out.
Stark turned around after glancing one last time at the spot where Olikar's body had been.
'I guess I'll complete your quest now.'
Stark wished Olikar could have told him more about the other civilizations, but it was fine.
He pushed open the cathedral doors and stepped back into the main square of [Shell City].
The difference was clear. The number of players had dropped heavily.
Much less than even in his past life.
A ninety-eight percent death rate. Humanity had been butchered.
Even many of the level 25 players who made it to this point had died in the calamity, unable to survive its chaos.
And it was mainly because of the [Calamity Buff].
Still… Stark didn't care.
As long as he could keep moving forward, it didn't matter.
'I wonder if the other gods will intervene again at some point.'
That was his only worry now.
He didn't know if they could actually do something directly to kill him, but the possibility was always there.1
He stepped further into the square.
"This was insane…"
"Oh well, the world was overpopulated anyway."
"What the fuck are you talking about? This entire thing was a calamity!"
"Nice pun."
Other players nearby spoke about what they had seen and their experiences.
Of course, none of them could compare to Stark.
Then the whispers began.
"Oh, look. It's Oblivion."
"Really?!"
"It is, holy shit!"
To most players, the strongest survivors were like gods at this point.
They were the ones who stood firm when everything else crumbled.
The ones who endured what others couldn't.
Stark ignored them. He didn't care about fame.
As long as his reputation was solid, he was satisfied.
He grabbed himself a small meal before leaving [Shell City].
Then he shook the [Mount Bell (Ghost Wolf)], summoning the mount once again.
The wolf appeared, tilting its head.
Stark tossed it another piece of meat.
The wolf ate it happily.
'No increase in loyalty,' Stark noted, 'Oh well.'
He climbed onto the ghost wolf's back and gave the order.
"We'll head to the level 25–30 area. I need to reach level 30 as fast as possible."
The wolf howled and charged forward at full speed.
Stark remembered several zones that matched his target level range.
If he cleared them all, his level would rise quickly.
He also needed to sell equipment eventually, but not now.
Most players didn't have enough [Lives] to afford his gear.
Too many had died too many times during the calamity.
If it hadn't been for the [Calamity Buff], Stark might have done it.
He opened his inventory.
[Inventory: 128/152]
He still had space. The equipment could wait.
The [Lives] he would gain later were far more valuable for the future.
So he pressed forward.
After a few minutes, the land shifted.
A massive pit opened before him, the entrance to the [Demonic Ruins].
A glowing barrier blocked the way.
Ding!
[You cannot enter the level 30–40 zone "Demonic Ruins" as you do not have the required level.]
'Wasn't planning to anyway.'
He smiled faintly. Soon, though.
Soon he would be able to walk into that place.
It felt good to finally push forward.
He had been stuck at level 25 for too long.
Now, with [Tier 2] secured, he could grow again.
Other level 25 players who survived the [First Calamity] must have also completed their advancement tasks.
That meant Ghost and Grace had too.
Sometimes a class that evolved further would receive a new passive.
At the beginning, meaning [Tier 0], most classes only had one passive.
The stronger ones gained two.
For example, Ghost and Grace both had two passives.1
But Stark… he had three!
And he would surely unlock even more as his class evolved.
For now, he was satisfied.
A few minutes later, he encountered the first monsters.
"Oh, it's some of those things again."
Ahead, a group of [Ground Spiders] crawled across the terrain, ripping apart another monster and feasting on it.
---
[Ground Spider (Level 26)]
[Rank: Rare]
[HP: 350,000]
---
They had abnormally high HP for their level, but Stark didn't care.
He had killed one before. He would kill them again.
Among them, a larger spider moved forward, armored and more menacing.
---
[General Ground Spider (Level 27)]
[Rank: Epic (Boss)]
[HP: 500,000]
---
The group noticed Stark and rushed forward, their long dark legs tearing into the dirt.
The [General Ground Spider] hissed.
A crimson glow erupted around it, buffing its allies. A terrifying sight to most.
To normal players, death would be certain.
But Stark only grinned.
'I already know all about you.'
He remembered his fight before.
[Ground Spiders] were immune to lightning.
And their exoskeletons were thick, able to block most attacks.
Unless the head was struck directly, or unless the attack was too powerful.
And in this case…
Blazing Meteor! Piercing Bone Spikes!
Fwish!
-384,480! -384,480! -384,480!1
Stark's [Blazing Meteor] exploded across the area, fire tearing through everything.
The spiders shrieked, burning instantly.
All of them died in one strike. All but the [General Ground Spider].
It rushed forward, crimson glow burning.
Fwish! Fwish!
The ground erupted.
Bone spikes shot up in an instant, piercing into its armored body, driving through its head.
-48,000! -48,000! -48,000!1
The spider screeched once, then collapsed.
Its HP hit zero. It was dead.
'Looks like I'll manage just fine.'
Stark smirked to himself.
By that I mean that they can directly kill him, like for example the [God of Calamity] couldn't kill Stark so instead made the monsters stronger in hope of achieving that indirectly.
The only passive you know right now is one of Ghost's, AKA the one that allows her to 10x damage when attacking when out of a monster's view. She had another one and Grace also has two that haven't been revealed.
203 (Current Spirit) + 598 (From Equipment) = 801 x 20 (Because Blazing Meteor deals 2,000% of Spirit) x 20 (Mage of Oblivion damage multiplier = 320400 + 20% of damage because of the [Divine Staff] = 384,480!
2,000 (Damage from Each Bone Spike) x 20 (Mage of Oblivion Multiplier) = 40,000 + 20% from divine staff = 48,000 per bone spike.
