[Kaiser, The Spirit Devourer (Level 50)]
[Rank: Mythical (Bloodline Boss)]
[HP: 8,000,000]
[Reward: "Spirit Devourer" Bloodline]
---
That thing had double the HP of the [Guardian of Mist], and it wasn't surprising, bloodline bosses were simply far stronger than any normal ones.
And as one might notice, it wasn't just marked as a "Bloodline Boss."
The reward for killing it was also shown right there on the panel, clear and direct.
Kaiser, in addition to his monstrous frame, carried a massive crimson staff in his hands.
After all, he was the SPIRIT Devourer.
That alone made it obvious he was a mage-type opponent, someone who needed Spirit to attack, and thus used magic to crush enemies.
Basically, this was going to be a real duel between mages.
"Yes..." Kaiser's crimson eyes glowed from behind his skull-like mask.
His deep voice echoed through the red mist.
"Good..."
The bloodline boss slowly raised his staff, and the air began to twist around him.
Boom!
In an instant, the blood mist swirling around Stark was blown away, forming a large empty circle of stone and lifeless dust beneath their feet.
That was their battlefield now. The "arena" had been drawn.
"A feast is only enjoyed," Kaiser said, his tone rising, "when it is proven that I am far superior..."
His bony mask stretched in what looked like a grin.
-300! -300! -300!
Meanwhile, Stark's health continued to drain away from the [Strong Bleeding] effect.
[HP: 96,200/102,500]
Even while Kaiser spoke, the whispers of the ancient gods filled the area again, echoing in Stark's head like faint chanting.
He tried to ignore them, but the constant droning was still there, crawling under his skin.
'This is a battle against time,' Stark thought.
There were too many debuffs in this place, [Strong Bleeding], the faint whispers that could trigger [Insanity], and whatever else this monster could unleash.
And that's exactly what made [Eternal Soul] so twisted.
As said before, every single zone in this world was technically possible, but many were barely so.
If someone could barely make it through, that still counted as "possible."
It was just that nobody actually could.
'They really made this world sadistic,' Stark thought, his gaze steady.
Whatever gods designed this wanted players to break at the edge of the possible.
After all, how could any player defeat this thing while bleeding to death, with a chance of losing their mind to whispers, and against an overwhelming enemy, all while only being Level 50?
It was technically possible, sure.
But practically? No one could do it.
And yet, here he was.
'Still,' Stark thought, 'I can't help but wonder, if other civilizations faced the same thing, how strong did they become?'
The Calamities had hit all civilizations, wiping most out.
If there were billions and billions of people across countless worlds, then surely some produced monsters like him.
Players who refused to die.
'Well, I won't know that right now,' he thought, shaking his head, 'Better focus.'
Every second spent thinking was 300 HP gone.
He needed to finish this fight in under five minutes, or he'd bleed out.
At least now, he had proof that Kaiser didn't wait for players to clear the monsters.
The boss simply came to them once they were hit with [Strong Bleeding].
That explained how other players "found" him before dying.
Blood Meteor!
Kaiser raised his staff high.
Blood energy gathered in the air above, forming into a dense, pulsating orb that began to fall toward Stark.
'Can't afford to get hit by anything,' Stark thought sharply.
'Barrier stays up.
Always.'
He immediately cast his protective skill.
[Unbreakable Magic Barrier]!
It shimmered around him, barely visible, but enough to block catastrophic spells.
Since [Strong Bleeding] targeted the body directly, the barrier couldn't stop that one, but it would protect him from everything else.
Blazing Meteor!
Boom!
Stark's own fiery meteor shot up into the air, colliding mid-way with Kaiser's attack.
The two explosions met in the center of the red mist and detonated violently.
BOOOOOOM!
A wave of heat and pressure burst outward, pushing both back slightly.
"Yes..." Kaiser's voice came through the fading shockwave.
"Your Spirit is powerful... I shall enjoy feasting on it..."
Then, slowly, Kaiser lifted a hand to his face and pulled his bone mask upward—just enough to reveal what lay beneath.
There were no teeth. No tongue.
Just a black pit of swirling energy, twisting and alive.
And then, that pit moved as though it were breathing in.
Spirit Devourer!
Seeing it, Stark's eyes narrowed.
He knew instantly that this was one of the Bloodline's main skills.
Bind of Silk!
He didn't wait.
White threads shot out from his hand, aiming to bind Kaiser in place before the effect could reach him.
But Kaiser responded almost instantly.
Blood Claws!
His staff pulsed with crimson light, and his other arm twisted, bones stretching into massive blood-forged claws.
He slashed once—
Snap!
—and the silk threads were torn apart as if they were paper.
Then, the air pulsed again.
Ding!
[Spirit Devour: 1%... 4%... 9%...]
Another [Status Meter] appeared in front of Stark's eyes—and it was filling up fast.
Within a single second, it jumped past ten percent.
A faint crimson thread extended from Stark's chest, pulled toward Kaiser's open mouth.
'Spirit Devour...' Stark thought, 'Of course.'
He realized what was happening.
Kaiser was literally feeding on his [Spirit] stat—his magical strength.
The longer this continued, the weaker Stark would get.
"Now that the feast has begun..." Kaiser's voice trembled with delight, the whispers of the gods growing louder in the background.
"Let us... end this..."
Blood Ray!
A surge of blood energy condensed at the end of Kaiser's staff before firing in a straight line.
Boom!
The crimson beam slammed against Stark's barrier, searing through the red mist.
-10,000!
'Damn.'
That hit was heavy, ten thousand damage in an instant.
This boss wasn't just strong. His spells were fast.
If Stark had reacted even a little slower, it would've pierced through him directly.
But it would take much more to break his barrier though.
He moved again, circling Kaiser, focusing his energy.
Torrent of Lightning!
Blue arcs of electricity burst out of his hands, spreading through the mist.
He aimed three precise bolts at Kaiser.
Zap! Zap! Zap!
-1,184,040! -1,184,040! -1,184,040!
All three shots struck cleanly.
Kaiser staggered slightly, momentarily stunned by the impact, lightning crawling across his black armor.
"The feast fights back," Kaiser growled, but his tone was almost amused, "Yes... it is proof that this is quality..."
Stark didn't hesitate.
He was already preparing his next spell.
He knew he couldn't drag this fight.
The longer it lasted, the more [Spirit Devour] would drain from him.
Just a few more hits and he could finish this—
Ding!
[Spirit Devour: 93%... 97%... 100%]
The bar filled completely.
The crimson thread connecting them pulsed once, then Kaiser suddenly inhaled sharply.
Fwshhhh!
Stark felt a painful pull from deep within his chest, like something vital was ripped out.
It wasn't physical, it was his power.
Ding!
[You have permanently lost 5 Spirit.]
'Hah... I see...' Stark exhaled sharply, his expression hardening.
Just as he expected, the meter reset instantly.
[Spirit Devour: 0%... 2%... 5%...]
It wasn't a one-time thing. It was a cycle.
Kaiser could keep doing it as long as he was alive, draining Spirit permanently with every full cast.
That explained everything about the Bloodline's name, and its terrifying power.
But that also meant one thing for Stark.
If he could somehow win this... If he could claim that Bloodline for himself...
Then he would gain this same power. The ability to steal the Spirit of his enemies.
To grow infinitely stronger the longer he fought.
And in a world like [Eternal Soul], that kind of ability could mean absolute dominance.
The red mist around them pulsed, swirling faster, almost as if the zone itself reacted to the intensity of their magic.
Both of them, Stark and Kaiser, stood facing one another in the clearing, magic surging between them.
