"Interesting," Arthur murmured, multiple level 24 monster at the superior rank would prvoide him decent experience that would push him closer to the level up threshold.
The heritage of these horses were also interesting. For somebody, to have owner them as his own mounts, that person must've been really powerful. At least a second order being and depending on his talent he could've been really strong.
"Master, the horse-things look really angry!" Aether observed, completely unbothered by the attention focused on them.
The lead Gullfaxi pawed the ground with supernatural force, each impact creating small craters in the earth. Steam rose from its nostrils as energy coursed through its muscular frame, preparing for the kind of hunt that had made its species legendary among the creatures of this realm.
Arthur's smile widened as he counted ten Gullfaxi in total.
"Yes, Aether," Arthur replied softly, his hand moving to rest on his katana's hilt. "We're definitely going to play with them."
The hunt was about to begin, but these horses were about to discover that they had chosen the wrong prey.
Arthur drew his Chaos Katana in one fluid motion, the pseudo-legendary blade singing as it cleared its sheath. The weapon's dark metal gleamed with power as he pointed it directly at the leading Gullfaxi, his stance relaxed yet ready.
"Let's begin," he said quietly.
The Gullfaxi neighed at my words as a response before striking the floor with his hooves.
In the blink of an eye and before the Gullfaxi could react, Arthur vanished from his position using spatial manipulation. Reality folded around him as he teleported directly in front of the nearest Gullfaxi, appearing so close that the creature's eyes barely had time to register the threat before Arthur's katana was already in motion.
The blade cut through the air in a lethal arc, slicing cleanly through the Gullfaxi's neck before the creature could even attempt to dodge. Blood sprayed in a crimson arc as the superior-rank beast collapsed, its powerful form hitting the ground with a thunderous impact that shook the clearing.

The remaining nine Gullfaxi reacted with lightning speed, their pack instincts screaming warnings as they witnessed their comrade's instant death. They spread out in a coordinated formation, attempting to surround Arthur and prevent him from isolating individual targets.
But Arthur was already moving.
He flickered out of existence again, reappearing behind a Gullfaxi that was still turning to face his previous position. His katana swept horizontally.
The Gullfaxi's powerful hindquarters separated from its torso in a spray of blood and viscera, the creature's final whinny cut short as death claimed it instantly.

"Eight left," Arthur noted with cold calculation, his eyes already tracking the movement of his remaining opponents.
The surviving Gullfaxi attempted to use their supernatural speed, their hooves striking the ground with enough force to create shockwaves as they charged from multiple directions simultaneously. Their coordination was flawless, generations of pack hunting experience guiding their assault as they tried to overwhelm Arthur through sheer numbers and synchronized attacks.
Arthur smiled before demonstrating why it wouldn't matter.
Space bent around him as he activated his spatial compression ability, creating a localized gravity well that disrupted the charging Gullfaxi's momentum. Three of the creatures stumbled as the ground beneath them warped, their precise coordination shattered by the unexpected environmental manipulation.
Arthur teleported directly above the confused cluster of beasts, his katana carved through the skull of one Gullfaxi before continuing its arc to sever the spine of another.

Six remaining.
The surviving Gullfaxi backed away, their confidence replaced by growing desperation. These creatures had never encountered an opponent who could match their speed while possessing such overwhelming lethality. Their supernatural mobility meant nothing when their enemy could simply appear wherever he chose.
One of the larger Gullfaxi attempted to use its phasing ability, its form becoming translucent as it prepared to strike from an unexpected angle. But Arthur's senses tracked the creature's movement, predicting its emergence point.
As the Gullfaxi materialized behind Arthur with its hooves aimed at his skull, it found only empty air. Arthur had already teleported away, appearing beside the creature's flank with his katana positioned for a perfect thrust.
The blade punched through the Gullfaxi's ribcage, piercing its heart before the creature even realized its ambush had failed. Arthur withdrew the weapon in a spray of blood, letting the superior-rank beast collapse beside its fallen packmates.

The remaining five Gullfaxi tried a different approach, spreading out across the entire clearing to make simultaneous targeting impossible. They began circling Arthur at maximum speed, their forms blurring as they attempted to create a whirlwind of movement that would confuse his spatial perception.
Arthur stood calmly in the center of their desperate attempt, his eyes following each creature's position despite their insane velocity. When they finally committed to their coordinated strike—all five charging from different angles in perfect synchronization—Arthur's response was devastatingly simple.
He activated mana shield in a wide radius around himself, creating multiple gravity wells that yanked the charging Gullfaxi off their intended paths. As the creatures struggled to maintain their footing in the chaotic gravitational fields, Arthur began eliminating them one by one.
Each strike found vital points with deadly accuracy. The Gullfaxi's superior-rank durability meant nothing when Arthur's attacks could kill Legendary-rank beasts.

The final two Gullfaxi, witnessing the complete annihilation of their pack, abandoned all pretense of hunting. They turned to flee, their survival instincts flaring danger as they realized they faced something beyond their power to hunt.
But Arthur's speed made escape impossible. He folded space around the fleeing creatures, creating dimensional barriers that trapped them within the clearing regardless of which direction they ran.
