Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 268: My Territory My Rules _1

It was certainly not permitted to come and rob Feng Yi's territory. The auctioneer, slippery as he was, grasped that the men in black meant trouble and understood the real reason the Four-Pointed Star didn't continue to bid. To wrap things up early was the best choice, so he accelerated the auction process. The unveiling of each item was almost immediately after the bidding for the previous one closed.

After waiting a moment, Feng Yi became somewhat annoyed. Who ever heard of an auction where no one bids? Now they were up to some dilapidated factory that no one wanted to buy. Just as the major forces were feeling relieved, Feng Yi was the first to speak: "The One-Pointed Star bids 500,000 Federal Coins."

Samantha was suddenly flustered, she initially intended to flare up in response but stopped herself. This man was not one to be trifled with. She said, "I...we don't bid."

"This is my turf, I decide. Don't worry, that area is quite good, suitable for farming. It won't rip you off."

"We don't have the money."

"No problem if you don't have money, just leave a person." While speaking, Feng Yi signaled the auctioneer to continue. However, the auctioneer, stuttering and stammering, was unsure if he was supposed to go on.

A man in black beside Samantha abruptly drew a gun; this was their default reaction after years of conditioning. The crowd in the square retreated back a distance...

"Don't!" Samantha's heart skipped a beat. Of all people to pull a gun on, not this harbinger of doom. But it was too late.

Roar...A cry of battle sounded across the square as the bodies of the dozens of men in black were struck by an intense wave of force. They were flung back and slammed against the wall, their states unclear.

Feng Yi was terrifying, his aura ferocious. As a representative of the federal special mission, he wouldn't tolerate provocation easily. He loudly ordered Mary: "What are you waiting for, take them away!"

"Yes..." Influenced by the intense aura, Mary's words slipped out unconsciously. A snap of her fingers and a group of men in black demonstrated their executional power.

Samantha and her bodyguards dared not even move an inch. The fate of those who had defied Feng Yi was laid bare. Anyone who dared to resist would meet an even worse end.

Even Shirley, the strongest among the crowd, felt a chill. She shuddered to think what would happen if she were to take the full force of that attack. Just who was this harbinger?

Feng Yi snorted, "The Federation has really fallen." He sneered at the direction of the Federation. As he walked, his gaze landed on the representatives of the four powers, "Let's see who doesn't have the money - Auctioneer, continue."

The representatives of the four heads were dripping cold sweat. As they expected, this man was not only unyielding but also fearless and potent once he made his move. They regretted coming today. To bid or not to bid? And how to bid? And how to report back after this? However, they also knew that provoking the Four Heads without considering the consequences was not a wise move.

The auction continued, it didn't matter what the next item was. The last items were always best, and this was no ordinary auction. As the items got poorer towards the end, Feng Yi hiked the price of a large shop with a starting bid of 200 Federal Coins to 20,000, this time going to the Two-Pointed Star representative, Sel.

His face darkening, Sel grudgingly paid up. The rent for two years came up to an average of 10 million a year. Even a loan shark wouldn't charge this much.

The representatives of the One-Pointed Star were furious. Why did Sel pay only 20,000 while they had to pay 500,000 for a derelict factory?

Ordinarily, it should be Four-Pointed Star's turn next. At this moment, the physically imposing Four-Pointed Star was sweating and his heartbeat unconsciously sped up... hoping that he wouldn't be made to pay an astronomical price like before. The sought-after auction items had now thoroughly become hot potatoes.

The result appeared! 10,000 Federal Coins! God, a starting bid of 10,000 Federal Coins! Even the auctioneer opened his mouth wide. If Feng Yi magnified that price hundred-fold, wouldn't that come to 1 million Federal Coins! Everyone present was stunned!

The Four-Pointed Star was bitter at heart. He hadn't come here to cause trouble or instigate a break-in. But what could he do?

This auction item was a mercenary guild with a thriving business. They usually protected the Federation's businesses in the Freedom Port of Maraca. However, even in such a glorious state, the Mercenary Guild couldn't stir up any waves, especially with the heads taking most of the profit. If anything were to happen to the Three-Pointed Star, who knows what would become of their remaining businesses.

Feng Yi gestured for a halt and asked the guild leader directly whether he wanted to auction off the guild. The guild leader, a man in his fifties, said he was ambivalent about it but wasn't willing to accept the price of 10,000 Federal Coins.

The price can be settled. Feng Yi asked him directly what price he had in mind.

The man thought for a moment and decisively said 50,000 Federal Coins, considering the current state of the Mercenary Guild.

Feng Yi decided to take the guild and said that he could pay 100,000 Federal Coins for it, of course, he didn't have the money now but assured that he soon would. Feng Yi was, in fact, operating on empty promises. Hearing this, the guild leader was delighted. The Mercenary Guild had inside information about the assessment conducted on the men in black and knew that they were more reasonable than the heads.

As for the 100,000 Federal Coins, Feng Yi could not produce it even if his life depended on it. He didn't have a penny to his name.

The next auction item was the land use rights of Baroque Square. Usually, the use rights, which meant renting to merchants to sell their goods and make a living, weren't desirable. The starting bid was 100 Federal Coins.

Feng Yi directly bid 110,000, causing the Four-Pointed Star to almost choke on his own blood. But then, stunned, he heard Feng Yi's next sentence. The usage rights of the square were to be purchased by Five-Pointed Star's Shirley.

Turns out he was taking into account the Mercenary Guild incident. This was way too capricious!

Shirley's face turned pale. How did she get roped in while staying out of the fray? After a moment of shocked silence, she smiled oddly, "Since the gentleman has requested it, I will comply. I'll pay 200,000 Federal Coins for the use rights of Baroque Square."

Shirley understood that this farce was a sort of power play, a reversal of roles of who held dominance. If she couldn't resist, she might as well try to enjoy it. The wind in Maraca had fully changed its direction, and having the men in black on her side might not be a bad decision after all.

There were two advantages to this. First, it stabilised the situation, really, how long could the other heads continue to ignore it? Second, it steadied the escalating situation. When Shirley was asked to shell out 10 million Federal Coins, she didn't care anymore; she actually felt a sort of relief.
