Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 176: Consecutive Breakthroughs_1

Whizz whizz whizz whizz...

Fast, bullet-like images streaked across the hill and plain, extending far into the distance. The operation staff of the Wind Thunder Line II watched with wide eyes, dumbstruck by the stunning scene. Everyone wanted to scream and yell, but nobody wanted to break the tranquility of the moment. They found it simply too incredible.

Angelina had seen Feng Yi in action before, but she never expected the him who abandoned everything to accomplish his mission to be so fearsome. When he had sneak attacked her previously, he had likely not even utilized the full extent of his strength.

In just a moment, the figure moving through the fluorescent jungle was already approaching the second line of defense. "Requesting ground strike, coordinates 3302-7. Requesting ground strike, repeat..."

The pilot of the stealth fighter was stunned. In just a few moments, the laser-guided program had already locked onto the Red Army's second defense line at coordinates 3302-7 again. This was an extremely aggressive pace of attack. They hadn't experienced such a rapid-fire thrill for a long time. "Buddy, you're doing a great job."

The missile boomed downwards as the control system locked onto the target area. The fighter continued its impressive performance, disappearing into thick smoke with a 180-degree turn.

Dammit! The young strategists in the Kingdom of Yingland were left speechless...

Sitting at the command table of Yingland, Amelia's eyebrows grew increasingly furrowed. Zi Mou's strategic objective had revealed her urgency to attack. The laser guidance originally had a strictly limited amount of uses. Sending Feng Yi to attack known outposts in advance was akin to revealing two trump cards early on, which would inevitably lead to a lack of force in the latter stages of the offensive. It seemed her real goal was to gain an early advantage and wait for the intervention of the Blue and Yellow Armies - following which, Yingland would no longer have the strength to turn the tide in the face of the ensuing chaos.

Since the enemy wanted it, they were going to get it. To try to cause significant damage to Feng Yi with a large scale attack would be more trouble than it's worth. Unable to effectively take down the target on the first attempt, continuing to attack would likely be a waste of ammunition. Amelia was a girl with an understanding of the overall situation and a master of adaptation, renowned for her non-conventional strategies. She would not repeat her mistakes, and she had to admit, she had underestimated that boy's strength.

"Commander, I think we should put extra emphasis on him." a lieutenant suggested.

Amelia raised a hand to silence him, observing for a while longer. Only after Feng Yi broke through the third outpost did she finally access the command control of the Sky Network, and personally issued a series of orders: "Abandon outpost 2917, abandon outpost 2703, abandon concealed point 2525, abandon sniper point 2169, abandon high ground 1987, all combat personnel retreat to the 491 outer defensive line, develop according to the rail sequence, hold position at coordinates 493."

The strategists in the room were dumbfounded. Unilaterally deciding to abandon vital strategic facilities without consultation was a serious military taboo. One of the newly appointed strategists was about to object when a veteran with plenty of experience pulled him back: "Commander, I hope you can give everyone an explanation."

"Wait." Amelia's slender fingers were quickly typing on the computer. With her nimble hands on the keyboard, there was a rhythmic tap-tap-tap sound...

She succinctly laid out her strategy for the room: Holding onto positions would only result in squandering of both manpower and resources. The enemy was clearly trying to sacrifice a single soldier to take out the entire battalion. On this fast-paced micro battlefield, to lose territory is to lose the advantage, and to lose resources is to lose everything. Manpower and resources are the bedrock of any battle. One might be able to snatch an overcoat after losing a jacket, but to willingly dismember oneself is the act of a fool. With ample military strength, why fear a resurgence? She had no desire to pick up an empty shell of a watermelon.

The command tent fell silent. Amelia's unconventional thinking often clashed with others' views, but her words hammered home the heart of the issue. Although everyone had their own strategic plans, hers was superior. The old saying held true: everyone had their own version of what's right and wrong. At least after she explained her strategic intent, no strategist in the room disputed her viewpoint.

In less than ten minutes, the Royal Military Academy of Yingland had lost two military strongholds at outpost 2917 and 2703.

Staring at the slowly rising morning sun, Feng Yi's figure suddenly froze. He was not a commander, nor had he ever learned professional theoretical knowledge. However, his seamless advance without encountering any Red Army resistance gave rise to a sense of unease. There was no way the enemy would use strategic facilities as bait to lure him deeper. He was just a soldier, an insignificant soldier. From a strategic standpoint, it was not worth it.

The only possible explanation was that Yingland might have completely abandoned all the strategic facilities of the defense line. If he continued to move forward, he would successfully complete his mission, but he would not be able to inflict effective damage on the enemy's stronghold. Yingland, on the other hand, might seize the advantage and wait for the opportune moment to lash back at Wind Thunder. The difference was that every strike from Yingland could potentially pierce Wind Thunder's heart, while Wind Thunder would only inflict minor injuries. Once Wind Thunder lost its powerful weapons, it would face being hunted by the three hungry 'wolves'.

Of course, Feng Yi was not certain if his assumptions were correct, but he could not shake off these thoughts. He was unable to change anything or communicate with Zi Mou; the only thing he could do was to tell the pilot about his thoughts, and leave everything else to fate.

With this in mind, Feng Yi continued to move forward quickly. All known outposts had been destroyed, and now he needed to find hidden bases as quickly as possible and relay the information to the pilot, to secure more time and space for the army.

For Zi Mou, her strategic objective was not as simple as it seemed. God? Demon? It didn't matter. Achieving victory over enemies step-by-step with dual strategy was not what she had hoped for. Instead, her long-held principle was to ensure that every bite could tear a piece from the enemy. Perhaps she didn't really see Amelia as the key to victory.

This girl, both serene and proud, always strategized in a calm and collected manner. She rarely showed her dominant side, and her modest tactics of feigning weakness were always her winning cards. If every male commander was a jungle hunter, then Zi Mou could be compared to an enticing trap. And don't forget, she also had a trump card that was unknown to the other three military academies - the 400 logistic soldiers who had long surpassed the standards of cadets and became the mainstays of this battle.

Zi Mou, like a muddy slope that lures enemies, slowly engulfs them before they realize they are completely stuck.

In this confrontation, the only commander that might be able to counteract Zi Mou's tactics was Amelia.
