Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1630: 1106 Three years later_2

If memory serves correctly, the growth period of the Bizarre seems to be just about this lengthy. In other words, while the Bizarre hasn't yet achieved faster-than-light flight, it already possesses the capability to traverse star domains.

Perhaps in a few decades, or maybe in a century, it will eventually grow to the point of eroding this star system. By then, humanity's only option will be to flee from the Bizarre. Fortunately, under the constraints of universal laws, the speed of light is unbreakable, meaning that no matter how advanced the Bizarre grows, it will be hard-pressed to catch up with humanity's escape velocity.

Through microscopic projection technology, we can observe that there's still ample time. However, as of today, Blade Warrior continues to be deeply troubled by this matter. She has no idea what stage the Bizarre has currently reached—could it have grown so terrifying that it's now capable of instantly eliminating Sky Shadow or even Roland?

According to the information she has, Sky Shadow has persisted in his practice over the past two years. Even the increasingly popular Ancient Martial Arts tournament has seen no participation from him.

Why is that? Is Sky Shadow lacking in competitive spirit? Absolutely not. Blade Warrior knows Sky Shadow better than anyone. One could say that Sky Shadow's ambition surpassed that of anyone else; otherwise, he couldn't have risen to his current heights.

It is precisely because Sky Shadow's abilities have reached a level far beyond other warriors in the world that he dismisses participating in the annual Ancient Martial Arts tournament. As for the world-class tournament held once every four years, whether he will join remains uncertain. Still, Blade Warrior knows this isn't the primary reason. The true cause must still be the Bizarre. The reason Sky Shadow didn't participate is likely because he's devoting more time to training and becoming stronger, thus neglecting some battles he deems dispensable.

Ah! In the blink of an eye, Feng Yi has been gone for over two years. His two children have gradually grown up too. In all this time, Blade Warrior hasn't had the chance to meet the children herself, though her thunder table still holds a trove of their photos.

The boy, Feng Luo, and the girl, Feng Wu, embody the saying, "You can see the essence of a life from its surface." Although it's too early to discern much, Blade Warrior couldn't help but notice that these two children seemed to lack Feng Yi's resolute character.

Starting with their propensity for crying, there's already some indication of issues. Although Blade Warrior doesn't know what Feng Yi was like as a child, she could easily imagine, even without firsthand knowledge, that Feng Yi must have been an exceptionally strong-willed kid. Naturally, a person's character is deeply influenced by their environment. Comparing Feng Yi and his two children highlights stark differences.

Unlike Feng Yi, they seem more like flowers nurtured in a greenhouse—unscarred by adversity, untouched by the elements of wind and frost, sunlight and rain. Perhaps, this is why Blade Warrior feels somewhat disappointed...

As Feng Yi's descendants, Blade Warrior dearly hopes the children will, in the future, live up to their father's legacy. Nevertheless, this expectation might amount to pressure for them.

For these reasons, even now Blade Warrior hasn't heard of the children learning more about Feng Yi. All they know is that their father was a great man, and they hold dual citizenship—one from Zana and one from the Federation. Additionally, they have two grandfathers: Wu Tian and Greedy Wolf. Of course, this excludes Lasso's involvement.

Thinking of the children, Blade Warrior decided to visit Jade Clear Sect in the near future. As she was planning, her thunder table suddenly buzzed, alerting her to an incoming Heavenly Communication prompt... from someone long out of touch.

"Sky Shadow?"

Looking at the Heavenly Communication number, Blade Warrior felt somewhat stunned. This man hadn't proactively contacted her in over two years—why suddenly now? Hmm, maybe it was related to the Bizarre. After all, she had calculated before that in two years, the Bizarre would grow to a stage capable of interstellar traversal. She didn't hesitate and answered the call.

"Huh, it's been ages."

Sky Shadow's cold voice sounded on the other end, cutting straight to the chase. "Enough chit-chat. You once mentioned the Bizarre would gain interstellar traversal capabilities in two years—am I correct?"

"Yes. What's the matter?"

"Take me to test it. With your abilities, you should have prepared something within these two years."

Blade Warrior froze for a moment before responding, "Prepared, yes. Besides the long-range escape device, my magnetic field conversion technology has seen unprecedented breakthroughs. However, it's still unstable and requires further testing. Listen to your tone—are you overly confident in your current capabilities?"

"Somewhat." A confident smile emerged on Sky Shadow's face. "Get ready. We're departing in a few days."

Hearing this, Blade Warrior was left bewildered. "So urgent? Do you have any assurances?"

"None." Sky Shadow's blunt reply felt like a cold splash of water. "No matter how dangerous, we can't let it continue growing unchecked. Even a temporary containment is better than waiting idly."

"But... is your current strength at Roland's level?"

"No."

Blade Warrior was stunned again. If he couldn't match Roland's strength, what was giving him such confidence to confront the Bizarre alone? Granted, the escape device provided some security—but this was still extremely risky. Last time, if not for Feng Yi's miraculous intervention, they might not have survived.

Luck doesn't always strike twice, nor can they always count on Feng Yi's aid. After all, Feng Yi isn't around anymore; everything must be approached with utmost caution. Any mishap would spell disaster.

Analyzing the Bizarre's capabilities suggests one conclusion: two years ago, Sky Shadow managed to deal significant damage to the Bizarre by pushing himself to the absolute limit. This form of indiscriminate, all-encompassing strike was, in certain aspects, even more effective than Roland's pinpoint attacks.

After all, the impact area of wave energy is omnidirectional, while Roland's attacks only target a single point. However, such extreme efforts can only be sustained once, leaving one to wonder where Sky Shadow derives his confidence now to face the Bizarre again.

When Blade Warrior posed this question to him, Sky Shadow didn't deny it. However, he offered a different answer, explaining that as his personal capabilities grew, he was no longer the same as he had been.

For example, if he previously managed to deal eleven times his normal damage, his highest constant combat power now had reached 8.3 million. If he could again unleash an attack like Fate Starburst, the results might defy expectations. Even if it ultimately proves futile, at least they could retreat safely, which itself is a form of attritional strategy.

It must be noted that the Bizarre's growth resembles a gluttonous snake—the more it consumes, the longer and larger it becomes. Leaving it unchecked only guarantees a worsening future.

Blade Warrior lowered her head, pondering quietly for a moment. Sky Shadow's rationale wasn't illogical. After some consideration, she decided to temporarily cancel her plans to visit Jade Clear Sect. "Alright. Should we reach out to others—like Zhang Xiaobo? He's also on Earth."

"Up to you. Whether he joins or not doesn't matter. I'll come to Sky City tomorrow to find you."

"Huh? Wait!" Blade Warrior wanted to discuss assembling more allies, but before she could finish speaking, the call abruptly ended. This man was truly...

'Fine. I'll contact Zhang Xiaobo,' Blade Warrior thought to herself. 'And Mengdie, and Roland too.' The thought of Mengdie raised a concern: now that Mengdie was a mother, would asking her to join such a dangerous mission be reasonable? Even if it wasn't for her, she had to consider her children.

Setting aside the half-dialed Heavenly Communication, she turned to contact Roland instead... only to find Roland seemingly vanished into thin air—completely unreachable. In fact, Roland had mentioned two years ago her intent to travel—perhaps to mountain peaks, perhaps by the sea. Apart from a brief appearance at Zhang Xiaobo's wedding, Blade Warrior hadn't seen Roland since. Who knew where she had gone?

Ah, who would've thought that old teammates have dispersed one by one? With most gone or estranged, the only one she could reliably contact now was the fat guy.
