Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1076 Roland's Responsibility

The bizarre entity now seemed to be gradually learning the various offensive tactics of Sky Shadow. From the initial passivity and being crushed, it was slowly clawing its way back from the disadvantageous position. Though the pace of progress wasn't obvious, it had clearly begun guarding against some of Sky Shadow's lighter attacks.

"Damn it, it turns out this monster truly defies normal principles. What should I do next?" Sky Shadow's mind raced to formulate strategies while facing his opponent. A year ago, this bizarre entity hadn't grown to this current degree. Though Sky Shadow had become stronger over the past year, the entity's overwhelming progress was almost unfathomable.

Sky Shadow's strength was purely forged through relentless self-discipline during that year.

Back then, Zhang Xiaobo was searching for Feng Yi, Mengdie was eating melon seeds, Roland was staring at the sky, and Blade Warrior was messing around with computers. Only Sky Shadow had devoted every moment to tempering himself. Yet, this scene before him still made him acutely aware of the difference in power.

Even though, at the moment, he was still in a position of dominance, Sky Shadow was human and not a machine—his stamina would eventually deplete. On the other hand, the bizarre entity's growth rate was far beyond anything a human could achieve. Now, it was even mimicking the very same moves Sky Shadow had just used, alternating between offense and defense. Though still being beaten, it had already grasped enough to barely defend against one or two of his attacks.

In merely a few minutes, the entity's growth had become this astounding? Saying Sky Shadow wasn't surprised would be a lie! Damn it, he couldn't let it continue to grow.

Swoosh...

On this thought, Sky Shadow suddenly decided to leap backward, retreating from the central battle zone and coldly gazing at the entirely pitch-black bizarre entity.

"What's wrong? You're not fighting anymore?"

Sky Shadow sneered, "I don't understand what you're still holding on to. Clearly, all you're good for is taking hits."

"Oh? Have you not noticed that the roles we play are gradually shifting?"

"Don't joke around. A battle is just a battle—there's no miraculous turning of the tables in such a short time." Sky Shadow pretended not to understand, replying dismissively, "From what I see, your level is unimpressive—as I've been suppressing you the whole time. Fighting someone like you is so incredibly dull that even I'm losing interest."

"Then, what do you want?"

"Simple. If you truly have any strength, show it all. Why hide it? I'm not interested in the current version of you."

From afar, Feng Yi's brows furrowed slightly. He reckoned Sky Shadow had also noticed the entity's ability to rapidly learn in a short timeframe. However, what did he plan to do?

"You think you're worthy?" The bizarre entity, now calmly staring at Sky Shadow, suddenly spoke.

Sky Shadow's reply was equally composed. "What, are you afraid?"

"Fine, as you wish, I'll show you my true power. Just don't regret it later."

As soon as the entity finished speaking, time seemed to lose all meaning in the area around them. Even the wind ceased. All ambient sounds were extinguished.

No, it wasn't as if they truly disappeared. Rather, everyone was entirely enveloped within the strong magnetic field waves emanating from the entity. Anything they carried—equipment, defenses, even their physical forms—all lost their utility in that brief moment.

Suddenly, a beam of black light spread outward from the entity's body like a singularity, expanding rapidly… spreading out to engulf the surrounding skies and earth. Its physical form was concealed entirely within the black glow.

Though separated by hundreds of meters, everyone could distinctly feel the terrifying pressure emanating from around the entity. This overwhelming force was so immense, it felt like Mount Tai pressing down on their heads, making it difficult to breathe.

What… is this?

If Sky Shadow's battle power, increased three millionfold, could be described as formidable, then the bizarre entity's growth defied any known vocabulary. It felt like its very existence was the magnetic field surrounding them—a process of energy release and transformation.

From the moment the entity revealed its abilities, there was no physical presence to sense. Yet, the eeriness of the scene only heightened the group's unease, as though something utterly disastrous was about to occur—that the entity's existence itself embodied a collection of negative energy.

Naturally, the moment the entity unleashed its powerful energy, Roland immediately shielded everyone. Her gaze became particularly sharp in this instant. Among them now, only Feng Yi seemed unaffected by the magnetic field's interference. On the contrary, there appeared to be a certain resonance between the magnetic field itself and Feng Yi's existence. Unfortunately, Feng Yi couldn't absorb this magnetic field to replenish his own continuously diminishing energy.

Sky Shadow stared, somewhat lost in his thoughts. "What is happening here? Could… could something like this truly be possible?"

Indeed, while Sky Shadow could resist the magnetic field, his inner shock far outweighed everything else going on.

Earlier, his deliberate retreat from the entity stemmed from an unease—an instinctive fear of the opponent holding back some unknown trump card, deliberately suppressing its strength while fighting him to create more room to grow.

Yet, Sky Shadow hadn't anticipated that the entity's power-up would be so peculiar—peculiar in the sense that its depth couldn't be discerned. In other words, the entity's aura remained unchanging, whether from the outset until now. It didn't seem particularly strong. And yet, precisely because of this peculiarity, it evoked an unprecedented sense of crisis.

Sky Shadow's heart was roiling with waves of turmoil! Outwardly, however, he maintained a calm demeanor like that of Mount Tai, surpassing even the serenity of Buddha himself. He addressed the bizarre entity, "A year ago, even if you increased your power, this strange magnetic field wouldn't have appeared. I want to know—the reason behind your evolution."

"It wouldn't hurt to tell you guys these things. Hahahaha…" The entity glanced at Sky Shadow and then at the group around him, saying, "Back then, I didn't quite understand the existing cosmic rules governing physics. I didn't know how to employ universal gravitation to realize energy release and transformation. Your human saying goes, 'Time flies.' We've all grown. To achieve the power I have today, I have to thank Roland from back then."
