Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1056: Analysis

Sky Shadow clearly values Feng Yi more, even more than his contemporary, Mu Tou.

As for the relationship between the two, they actually have little to no contact. Even within the Federal Army, they barely interact, each busy with their own duties.

After all, they belong to different factions, are led by different leaders, and their team branches are intricately complex, resembling the phrase "wells do not interfere with rivers".

Take Feng Yi for example; he himself forms an independent faction, being a front-line combat leader not bound by anyone, not swayed by trends, nor following anyone's pace or engaging in deceitful flattery. As a national hero, his support comes from himself, his autocratic authority, the Blazing Legion and the people, and numerous distinguished honors branded with his name.

Moving on to the Academy faction, this category holds significant weight in the Federation, such as Ophelia from the Yingland Military Academy, Apophis from the Solar System's Golden Sword, Amelia from Wind Thunder Academy, Weirbo the Dean of Wind Thunder Academy, and Dr. Rhine—all belong to the Academy faction.

Apophis, aware of the complex undercurrents within, including the overt and covert struggles, acknowledges this fact as a truthful reflection of factional relationships, an inevitable issue, hence he chose to leave the Military Department after graduation.

Indeed, regardless of how capable you are, even if you are a genius, without the support of the Academy faction, you simply cannot become a super soldier.

Sky Shadow is fully aware of these subtleties, and because he knows about the tricks within, he generally looks down on super soldiers.

Mu Tou is an exception. In fact, with Mu Tou's capabilities, he is indeed suited for the sniper role. However, from a personal ability perspective, he does not meet the criteria to join the circle of super soldiers, whether in handling interpersonal relationships or solving complex problems, Mu Tou is clearly not as outstanding as that group.

So who is that group? Looking at the Federation's super soldiers, every one of them is top-notch. Only Mu Tou and Hugo come from ordinary backgrounds; logically, based on their abilities, it's impossible for them to become super soldiers.

But you also have to see who stands behind Hugo—it's Greedy Wolf. As a direct leader from the Military Department faction, with his backing, it's unlikely anyone would be foolish enough to risk offending Greedy Wolf by pushing Hugo out.

The same applies to Mu Tou. As a commoner, Mu Tou's qualifications are mediocre, with shooting talent being his only standout quality. Yet, how could such a person become a super soldier?

Because it was Feng Yi who recommended him. And who is Feng Yi? Even though he never gets involved in any political disputes, he is a special envoy, the disciple of the great mentor Lasso. His insights are even more thorough than anyone else.

If no one in the Military Department wants to offend Greedy Wolf, Feng Yi's approach is even more iron-fisted and direct than Greedy Wolf's.

He even dares to detain a senior leader's family members, not just once, and the same applies to an Academy faction.

While Feng Yi protects his own, it's not without reason. On the contrary, Feng Yi values reason highly. If he knows the person he recommended didn't become a super soldier, Feng Yi would surely ask, why can't Mu Tou be a super soldier, and why let a worthless person replace him?

Feng Yi will not let the matter rest; he is who he is, a clean, just, wise, and widely-loved iron-blooded commander. He could even fight with high-level commanders over an unfair incident involving a retired soldier, and treat ordinary soldiers like brothers without regard for his image.

It can be said that although Sky Shadow is arrogant, Mu Tou is the only super soldier he acknowledges, believing Mu Tou reached his position solely through his personal strength.

Note that the other super soldiers might also be excellent, but the role of a sniper on the battlefield holds significant meaning, especially in a one-on-one context against super soldiers from the opposing side.

A regular soldier stands no chance against Kexiao, and neither would two soldiers, but replacing the second soldier with Mu Tou would clearly easily constrain Kexiao. With the added factor of a sniper's stealth shots, Kexiao would be cautious about any move, always observing his surroundings and the hidden snipers.

Comparing to the Haier Brothers, their cooperation is so powerful because it entirely relies on their unique abilities, truly exhibiting a property where one plus one is greater than two.

Perhaps, it would take three or even four super soldiers working together to match a foe that the Haier Brothers alone can handle—Kexiao, an enemy commander. This further proves the distinctive features of our super soldiers.

However, even as formidable as the Haier Brothers are when cooperating, they would still face a tough battle in a 2-on-2 against the enemy, because there's a long-range sniper on the opposing side, Revenant No.3, that is, Mu Tou. In this sense, Feng Yi's recommendation of Mu Tou as a super soldier holds not only significant meaning but even restrict the capabilities of someone of Kexiao's caliber, clearly highlighting the gap.

A different aspect is that, although the Haier Brothers excel within the Academy and possess outstanding personal abilities and performance, setting them apart from their peers in the soldier class, their position is almost the strongest.

But it's important to know the strengths and weaknesses of the Haier Brothers.

Everyone has strengths and flaws, even such geniuses, having strengths means having weaknesses.
