Chapter 1476: Fate - Soul Question and Answer_2

"It seems you still retain high levels of vigilance from before your death; I mean you no harm," the voice uttered a deep sigh, "The reason I asked you the question is because I cannot see the thread of your destiny."

"Destiny thread..." Feng Yi murmured, looking down.

"Yes, every living being has a thread of destiny, whether rich or poor, beast or grass, as long as one exists in the present world, they are closely bound to their thread of destiny, inseparably, much like the bond between parent and child, a bond that's a line of destiny. In the concept of your group, besides these, there are career lines, karma lines, and many other terms, but I don't agree with them."

"Why not?"

"That's your second question."

Feng Yi nodded, "Please, ask your next question."

Mo Ying said, "Do you think death is truly the end?"

"Death should not signify a true conclusion; bonds remain, as do memories and longings from life."

"I see," Mo Ying sighed again; the reply from Feng Yi didn't seem to satisfy him or perhaps Feng Yi didn't fully grasp Mo Ying's meaning, "It's your turn to ask."

"I want to understand what a Change-maker is."

"Someone born with a mission to this world, whose existence is often limited to hearsay. The destiny thread of a Change-maker might differ from ordinary people; you can think of him as someone who can bring about a scientific revolution for humanity, or his theory could drastically impact the entire field of physics, or it could be revolutionary and innovative political thoughts, propelling human civilization or ideology and morality to unprecedented heights. The fields they influence might be very extensive, such as technology, politics, economy, healthcare, culture, and the environment—this is the Change-maker you want to understand. Of course, it's also possible for them to remain obscure throughout their lives, crushed by reality, but I can't see the knot in your life thread. If you believe in destiny, this thread could undergo a butterfly effect due to various actions you take, thereby changing it. If you don't believe in it and try to upend it, your destiny might develop in different directions—while humans can't prevent the connection of destiny threads, they can change their fate through effort and seize control of their future."

Feng Yi nodded seriously; Mo Ying had already asked two questions, two seemingly simple questions that in the eyes of countless people have countless answers: one about life, and one about death. He could not fathom why such a mysterious being would ask questions that seemed philosophically profound but lacked a unified explanation.

Feng Yi said, "Please ask your third question."

"I want to know your understanding of life. What do you think dreams are, what is life, what are emotions, and what are the pursuits of those living in this world?" Mo Ying threw out four questions in succession.

Sometimes, these are precisely what he contemplates himself. Feng Yi hesitated for a moment before replying to Mo Ying's questions: "I believe that life is an extension of dreams, and dreams are the vessel for life. It's precisely because of dreams that life becomes more colorful, allowing people to have more to pursue—money, fame, status, greed, ambition are all reasons to drive the success of dreams. However, to beautify their own vile faces, humans cannot but use dreams as an excuse, to dignify themselves with lofty reasons. As for emotions, they exist in many forms, love, friendship, and kinship can be interdependent but also extremely volatile. Generally speaking, emotions are undoubtedly a balance established over time, there are no completely selfless acts nor absolute true love; when a person's efforts are not reciprocated, when their true love fails to echo, emotions will disappear like the receding tide. What I see, emotions are but a somewhat whimsical joke. Concerning the meaning of life, firstly, I think that it's based on the questions themselves, secondly, because they lack the courage to die. If death had no pain, if people didn't have to live for others out of so-called emotional debts, there wouldn't be so many people in the world."

"Humans truly are a contradictory creature." To Feng Yi's answer, Mo Ying finally didn't sound as flavorless as before, "Now you can ask your question."

Feng Yi also had four questions: "What kind of being are you, why can you directly converse with me, why can you foresee the future, and lastly, I want to know why you speculate that I might be a Change-maker."

"I belong to a life form you don't understand, originating from a five-dimensional space two levels higher than humanity, able to see the intersection lines of destinies of different people. You are already dead now, turned into a powerful energy, but in other dimensional spaces, you continue to live. Everyone's destiny dimension will have certain deviations; the environment you grow in may change your life's trajectory, but your character's essence doesn't change too much. You still maintain your current elegance in another dimension; there, you could be an office worker, but in most dimensions you are still a soldier or a mercenary. In a place you cannot forget, you have even been killed by a man, and the grass on your grave has grown two meters tall."

Feng Yi listened with both astonishment and inexplicable interest.

Mo Ying continued, "In my eyes, your destiny has infinite possibilities, and because I foresaw that you would interfere with me, I brought you here. Of course, curiosity about your life thread is also a main reason." He clearly had no intention of disclosing more information about the life thread to Feng Yi.

"The ability to communicate directly with you is a form of mind transfer." On the topic of changers, Mo Ying did not directly answer Feng Yi. Instead, he asked, "Do you still remember Sheng Qiangwei?"

"Of course, Sheng Qiangwei is already married."

"What about Zi Mou, Amelia, Francis, Angelina, John, Hans, Blade Warrior, Kexiao, Jiu Ling, Sky Shadow, and even Lasso, do you remember them? These are individuals who just happened to briefly enter the cycle of your life."

"Of course!" Feng Yi said, not understanding the meaning of the lifecycle mentioned by Mo Ying. However, he was already shaken. After all, how could Mo Ying, who had no chance to interact with these friends, know so much about them? He even knew more details than Feng Yi himself, mentioning soldiers who had fought alongside Feng Yi years ago but whose names Feng Yi had forgotten, Mo Ying could recall all the specifics.

"How, how could you possibly know about these..."

"To me, they are no secret at all. That's your life thread, and by reversing your time, observing you becomes like watching a story of your growth, with everything that happens around you reenacted before my eyes."

"What! WHAT!?"

Even as an ethereal being, Feng Yi couldn't help but be shocked by this revelation!

"You need not be surprised; I come from a higher dimension." Sensing that Feng Yi needed time to digest this, Mo Ying continued, "When you watch a 2D animation, do you feel surprised?"

This remark set off another explosion in Feng Yi's thoughts! Mo Ying's analogy was not flawed at all. It is well known that humans exist in the three-dimensional space, while 2D animation undoubtedly exists in a two-dimensional space. Characters within the animation could not possibly know they are animated characters, yet we can pause, reverse, and replay the world of the animation indefinitely, even creating merchandise and many derivatives from it.

The difference is that our third dimension is merely one dimension away, while the span between Mo Ying's dimension and ours is more than one. It is entirely possible for him to observe and even change certain aspects of the timeline and dimensions that we don't understand. This explains why Mo Ying says he finds himself in a confined space—does a high-dimensional being not feel constricted in a tedious world of animation to us humans?

In the midst of these swirling thoughts, Feng Yi experienced a moment of clarity.

As he pondered this, Mo Ying's voice echoed in his mind again, "What should surprise me is that your thread of destiny had disappeared even before Lasso found you, and this is what truly intrigues me."

"Intrigues you..."

"Yes, your very existence defies logic, including the cosmic rules as I understand them..."
