Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 929: The Refracted Other Shore

The Federation had a total of 11 explorers, including the Dream Star Team, two Rank 3 hunters from the Bounty Tribe, and five soldiers from the military.

The officials had explained that the subsequent support was rushing at full speed to Satellite 8. During this crucial period, the vanguard only needed to hold on for 3 days before help arrived.

Of course, although it was said to be 3 days, the size of the battleship was no bigger than a district, and it was presumed that the main structure and important clues left behind could be largely discerned within a day.

Before entering the battleship on the eve, everyone agreed on one thing, to always keep the communicator open. You didn't know what awaited inside, and with the battleship's special magnetic field causing modern detection robots and related devices to fail, continuous communication became extremely important.

After all, theoretical knowledge was just that, theory. While having a grasp of the theory was one thing, dealing with any unforeseen situation on-site was up to the explorers themselves. You couldn't even guarantee if you could make contact with the outside world normally. Fortunately, aside from excluding the interruption of civilization, the experts couldn't imagine any other hidden dangers within the battleship.

So, after continuously breaking through the outer armor not long after, all 11 people quickly entered it.

The temperature inside the ship was still not low, and as soon as they entered, Xixi, who was relatively weak in constitution, felt the hot waves hitting her face... Thankfully, everyone was equipped with the most advanced circulatory oxygen breathing machines, cooling devices, and various kinds of equipment that you could or couldn't imagine, so their skin didn't feel any discomfort.

Under the glow of nuclear energy lights, the pitch-black hull finally revealed its original color. The straight corridors stretching across both sides brought a heavy, profound feeling, as though they were ancient relics that had slept for thousands of years, weathered and age-old...

From the ground up to the eaves and even in width, everything was more than double the size of typical aircraft carriers. Those inside felt as though they were in a colossal battleship.

These 11 explorers didn't know each other's names; they addressed each other by numerical code names, ranging from numbers 1 to 11.

Just after entering the hull, the leader of the first squad from the military halted suddenly, quickly seeking everyone's opinions. Although Xiu Yi's team was still very young, the squad leader knew well that to bear the task of exploration, their experience was anything but simple.

"I suggest we split up and move along both sides of the corridor, which can maximize our exploration efficiency. What do you all think?"

"No objections," said the second squad in unison, that is, the two from the Bounty Tribe. They were numbered 6 and 7 respectively.

Xiu Yi, however, spoke seriously, "We still haven't fully understood this bizarre place, so I think it's prudent to prioritize safety."

The military squad leader hesitated for a moment and then said, "I've considered this as well. Everyone should constantly maintain communications in case we need urgent support during an emergency."

The minority deferred to the majority. In fact, as soon as the second team had confirmed their separate actions, the plan was already in effect, unless Xiu Yi could present a convincing argument, which clearly, if he could think of it, so could everyone else.

As they spoke, both teams swiftly surged toward the end of the corridor...

'Pff, the efficiency of the military really is extraordinary—not to mention an unexpected disagreement has already arisen. Quite surprising indeed,' Red Ghost sneered in his mind.

Seeing this, Xiu Yi couldn't help but shake his head in resignation... Well, there was nothing to be done. Since the three teams would communicate every ten minutes, he reluctantly followed the other three towards the right-hand side...

At this moment, their walking pace wasn't fast. Their experiences of long-term adventure in the wilderness continuously cautioned them within their hearts. The less they understood, the more cautious and vigilant they needed to be. After all, 3 days were enough to familiarize oneself with this vast battleship; it was meticulous caution that everyone needed to be most aware of.

In the empty hall, the monotonous footsteps of a few people echoed. During this 10-minute exploration, the group had only made one public contact. Strangely enough, the corridors inside the battleship seemed to have no end. Or was the exterior of the battleship originally a circular design? Even at the pace of the explorers, they hadn't found any structure resembling even a door.

On the other end of the exploration team, after 20 minutes, the leader of Team 1 called out to the two teams again through the public channel, "Team 2, Team 3, is everything normal? Please respond."

"This is Team 2, all is normal."

"..."

"Team 3, please respond."

"Team 3, Team 3, if you hear us, please respond, Team 3...?"

Unfortunately, there was no response to the Team 1 leader's repeated calls through the communicator, which made both teams realize a situation as they had anticipated: communications might have been completely blocked by the peculiar magnetic field of the bizarre battleship.

——

Meanwhile, after 15 minutes of exploration, Team 3 finally discovered a bizarre room with a heavy black door that looked like it had been eroded by time standing by the corridor.

As a mechanic, Kevin was best at this kind of job, and he seemed eager to try, "Shall we open this big door?"

"Of course."

A series of loud bangs echoed down the vast corridor. The dim environment, along with the noise from Kevin's efforts, involuntarily made both Red Ghost and Xixi frown. Red Ghost said, "Can't you be a bit quieter?"

"Hey, stop complaining over there, will you? This isn't just any door—Xiu Yi, lend a hand."

It must be said that there was something odd about the interior of the battleship. It took a great deal of effort from Kevin and Xiu Yi, using a multipurpose wrench, to finally knock the door open—just enough to create a gap.

The four of them turned their bodies and carefully squeezed through the opening, the light from the torches allowing them to see everything inside clearly... The first thing that caught their eyes was a hexagram flickering with a silvery-white light, glowing softly like a magic circle from an anime or game.
