Chapter 922: The Approach of Winter_2

Dr. Rhine from the Alpha Wind Thunder Military Academy had rushed over on a special plane as a biologist, it was necessary to conduct detailed observations on cell mutations.

As Rhine had just stepped off the spaceport, Special Operations Team Leader Lola had greeted him from a distance. She dared not treat this dignitary with the same playfulness she might have shown to Anthony.

"Dr. Rhine, welcome," Lola said, gesturing for him to follow. This was the magnetic levitation route leading directly to the Black Science Base.

Rhine nodded with a faint smile and quickly got into the official vehicle. On the road, he started asking about Lola's progress in the investigation and instructed her to pay attention not only to Anthony but also to the changes in the body of the deceased.

One could say that the incident had, to a certain extent, already exceeded human understanding. Rhine even considered whether to announce the matter to the world, although he lacked the authority to do so. Any negligence in related issues could indeed have a profound impact on the future of humanity. Such unknowns related to the human pattern could not tolerate the slightest bit of carelessness.

In response to Rhine's detailed questions, Lola simply smiled and reported what she knew. When it came to biology and cosmology, she did not know much, but she could also foresee some personal fantasies. Could this be closely related to that cosmic war between General Feng and Kexiao?

In fact, even as a rationalist, Lola was not devoid of girlish fantasies, nor was she devoid of a thirst for truth. Otherwise, how could she, not yet 30 years old, become the leader of the Special Operations Team based on sheer passion?

Feng Yi and Kexiao were some of the most outstanding generals in the world, and they had experienced intense collisions on that starry battlefield. For such great individuals capable of changing the world's pattern, the universe might not change because of them, but the world would become more exciting because of them.

---

Under a sky full of dazzling blue stars that intoxicated the senses, that starry sky seemed like a dream cradle filled with endless fantasies, incredibly gorgeous.

Regrettably, at this moment, Feng Yi was far from happy. His body's constant degradation put him in constant agony. Although his strong willpower meant he had never actively given up, it was not a pleasant feeling.

Upon discovering the top-secret intelligence of the appearance of the Federal Supreme Overlord, Feng Yi let out another light sigh. "It seems the so-called era of winter days is about to unfold."

"Are you sure?" Eggy asked doubtfully beside him.

"Not quite sure, but I somewhat agree," Feng Yi replied.

"Heh, then do you think human destruction comes from themselves, extraterrestrials, or something else? Keep in mind that the laws of the dark forest and the colossal beings are not absolute. When we touch upon the truth and understand what's real, we'll find that all external factors aren't frightening; it's humanity itself that is the key to our demise."

"I used to think very much like you, but unfortunately, it has changed recently," Feng Yi said nonchalantly, spreading his hands.

"Recently?"

"Yes, I can sense the disorder in time and space, the disorder in order... Hmm, it's the same scene I saw in my dreams at first, only now it's much more real right before my eyes."

Eggy immediately latched onto the crucial words in Feng Yi's statement. "Time-space disorder, what do you mean by that?"

"It's a bit complicated to explain, but let me give you a rough analogy. Bug—you can think about that."

"Bug, as in the gaming terminology bug?"

"Exactly, it seems our space has also experienced the same bizarre occurrence."

"Bizarre..." Eggy repeated the eerie word from Feng Yi's mouth, somewhat at a loss.

Feng Yi nodded and said, "To put it in simple terms, you know my power. The Third Rhythm is limited by spatial constraints, but in sleep, there are no barriers. It's the most relaxed state of the human body. To use an old saying as a metaphor, it's like having one's soul leave the body." Feng Yi smiled slyly at Eggy and asked, "Guess what I saw?"

Eggy was somewhat puzzled. "Is this what you mean by 'bug'?"

"Exactly!" Feng Yi nodded slightly. "Apart from 'bug,' I can't find a better term to describe it. It's somewhat like a time-space disorder, like when you're walking and suddenly find there's no more road ahead, a void where no space exists. Even my abilities can't penetrate this bizarre phenomenon. And there are even weirder things happening, beyond that."

Eggy hastily asked, "What phenomenon?"

Feng Yi said, "A bug-like infinite loop. On the other side of the V583 asteroid belt's space wormhole lies a world that our current scientific theories cannot explain. The physical laws of that world have fallen into a dead loop. You've seen that warship from some unknown civilization, haven't you?"

"Yes, based on my analysis, that warship has likely been abandoned for about ten thousand years."

"That's what I'm talking about. The other side of the wormhole belongs to an alien battlefield relic, which has now fallen into a loop similar to a bug."

Eggy seemed to be frightened by Feng Yi's words, his voice trembling a bit, "What, what kind of loop?"

Feng Yi explained, "It's somewhat similar to you walking from point A to point B, and the next second, you repeat the same process. The appearance of that warship in the V583 asteroid belt, I guess, is a part of an ongoing repetitive cycle getting close to the wormhole and being directly transferred to our known universe."

"Since it's an infinite loop, how could the warship fall into V583?" Eggy immediately raised his doubt.

"That's the terrifying part."

Feng Yi explained to Eggy that through the Third Rhythm, his consciousness could travel freely through the wormholes in his sleep—he described it as a bug, as if in a straightforward side-scrolling platform game; you could think of the warship as the character we control. When the game screen freezes, hangs, or crashes, all can be considered bugs.

The warship itself is normal, but the spacetime it occupies has twisted, forcing it to endlessly repeat the past processes within the confines of the game screen.

As the collapse of space continued to spread and distances grew, the range in which the warship could move also silently changed. Eventually, as the collapsing space approached the wormhole, the warship itself was drawn into the wormhole and into our universe—that was the most terrifying aspect.

In other words, wormholes are at best just a medium of terms. If we assume that the collapsing space could spread through the wormholes into the universe we inhabit, it could potentially become an insurmountable problem for mankind.

With the current level of human civilization, there's no strategy to counter it.

After hearing Feng Yi's narrative, Eggy hesitated for quite a while without making a sound.

Feng Yi said leisurely, "I have some understanding of the true meaning of Wu Tian's prophecy, why Mardis and Earth may become the class M planets that the Federation could flee to in times of disaster."

"Why?"

"Because of mass," Feng Yi briefly replied. "Of course, this is just a hypothesis. If the collapsing space spreads through wormholes to our part of the universe, this part of the starry sky might cease to exist."

"Then what?"

"As for what happens next, as you know, Earth and Mardis are similar in mass, not too large, nor too small. They are just right to hold onto their atmosphere, preventing heat from escaping, and are internally active enough to provide heat. Planets like Mars, these cremated planets, once out of the star's light, will not be able to retain heat, and their mass is insufficient to hold onto an atmosphere. Larger super-Earths, on the other hand, are too massive to move. With current human technology, I think we could barely push a planet like Earth out of its orbit, of course, this is all just personal speculation."

"It's undeniable that what you've said makes sense. I'd bet this is far more valuable information than any intelligence—I suppose you plan to keep it?"

"We can't confirm any of this, the other side of the wormhole is beyond our current understanding of physics. Even if we do tell others, we need someone to believe it, right?" Feng Yi shrugged helplessly, then suddenly changed the subject, "But how can we know without trying?"

"So, what are we going to do now?"

"Heh, of course, we're going back to the Capital Planet. I'm also very curious about that bizarre warship."

"Didn't you feel anything about that alien warship in your Third Rhythm state?"

"Please, dreams are involuntary. I can't control my consciousness well."
