Daniel watched Milla disappear through the portal and then focused his attention on the ancient and desolate battlefield before him.
This truly was the Godfall Battlefield.
Everywhere he looked, there were enormous skeletal remains!
Despite the countless years that had passed, Daniel could still feel traces of divine power emanating from these bones.
Just how powerful were these beings in life?
Daniel pondered for a moment before frowning.
From what he could sense, these mighty beings shouldn't have died here!
They each had their own brilliance, but they had all fallen in this Godfall Battlefield.
In particular, some of the bones were from beings Daniel had fought in the Temple of the Infinite Gods not long ago.
Yet, in the blink of an eye, these powerful entities had become nothing but skeletons!
For a brief moment, Daniel felt a pang of melancholy. But soon after, he realized something else.
Who had killed them?
From his previous encounters, Daniel had discovered that these god-ranked beings were not as foolish as they appeared on the surface.
On the contrary, those who had reached this level were nearly always exceptional in many ways.
So, the fact that they all perished in the Godfall Battlefield could only mean one thing: there had to be an incredibly powerful entity in this battlefield.
With that thought, Daniel raised his hand and used the Ancient Scroll he had recently acquired.
In the next moment, a scroll appeared before him, not too large, but perfectly sized for what he needed.
As Daniel unfurled the scroll, a series of paintings emerged before his eyes.
Daniel could immediately tell that these paintings depicted the Godfall lands, though it was clear that the depiction showed a much earlier era than the one they were in now.
The images on the scroll revealed that since the beginning of Backworld's existence, it had been in a state of perpetual warfare.
No one knew the reason for the fighting. No one knew what their future would hold.
For most awakeners, once they entered Backworld, obtaining extraordinary power was enough.
However, the reality was that they had become expendable in these endless wars. More and more warriors entered the Godfall Battlefield only to lose their lives soon after.
This battlefield was filled with corpses and souls, and the fighting had never ceased.
Many young lives were lost in this place, and they had no idea why they had to die here.
Years later, more and more awakeners grew weary of the endless battle.
They began to search for new paths, whether to increase their strength or prepare for the crises that were sure to come.
Unknowingly guided by someone or something, these awakeners began hunting the Primordial Plane.
The once endless stars became the arena for these powerful competitors.
Before these top-tier beings, the stars of the Primordial Plane had no chance of resistance.
Thus, the sun, Apollo, began to appear like a puppet in the Land of Origin, cycling endlessly.
Yet even then, the war showed no signs of stopping!
The brutality of the Godfall Battlefield far exceeded what ordinary people could imagine.
Every grain of sand in the Godfall Battlefield had once been part of a powerful being's body.
What few knew was that the Godfall Battlefield had once been a beautiful place, full of lush plants and thriving life.
But after endless wars, it was left barren, an eternal wasteland of chaos.
For the powerful beings of the Ancient God Pantheon, the fiercest competition had always been with each other.
Because the power of faith was inherently limited, the more of it one could accumulate, the stronger they became.
In the past, the Godfall lands didn't have a true god emerge from the Ancient God Pantheon.
Thus, the desire to become a god caused these awakeners of the Ancient God Pantheon to fight fiercely among themselves.
As the world's rules weakened, ordinary awakeners gradually lost their chance to participate in this battle.
The strongest among them stepped first into the demigod realm.
After a long period of violent fighting, they reached the demigod level, then progressed to Fake God and even demigod...
The existence of the Godfall Battlefield had witnessed the birth and rise of the Ancient God Pantheon.
Many years later, when the modern divine system emerged, the intelligent beings began to gradually abandon the path of the Ancient God Pantheon.
After all, no one wanted to make sacrifices for the benefit of others.
Daniel slowly closed the scroll, his face reflecting a deep sense of melancholy.
This world was far more brutal than he had imagined!
So many intelligent beings, like ants, had been ground into dust in the Godfall Battlefield, a relentless meat grinder of blood and flesh.
All these intelligent creatures had gone mad.
Perhaps they never wanted this, but the system of the Ancient God Pantheon had doomed this war to exist.
This damn world... was truly cruel!
Daniel couldn't help but sigh as he realized that the rise of the modern divine system was likely linked to these eternal wars.
Of course, for Daniel, these matters couldn't be definitively judged right now.
But he did feel that if he had lived during the time of the Ancient God Pantheon, he might never have truly grown.
Even if he had somehow survived, he likely would have become a bloodthirsty, murderous maniac!
Daniel took a deep breath, his gaze shifting toward the distant City of Luck.
Perhaps the cities created by the gods were the last havens in this cruel world.
For these beings, receiving the protection of a god might be the closest thing to happiness.
Daniel reflected on this and was about to store away the Ancient Scroll.
But just then, something caught his eye. A familiar face appeared on the scroll.
Wait... wasn't that Daryl?
Why was she in this era?
Instinctively, Daniel activated the Eye of Insight, focusing on the details of the Ancient Scroll.
As he looked closer, he realized that this era seemed... different.
The feeling... as though everything had been frozen in ice!
Wait... frozen, different era...
Suddenly, Daniel's eyes lit up as he made a connection.
If he wasn't mistaken,
this was exactly the location he needed to find—the place where the Ice of Possibility existed!
But... why was Daryl sealed here?
Daniel scratched his head, then used his mind power to cover the entire Godfall Battlefield.
He needed to find the place where Daryl had disappeared.
