Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields

Chapter 225: You Are Truly a Genius!

Eastern wall of the Shelter.

After the appetizer battle ended.

Lin Yi instructed the soldiers to collect their rewards.

The current situation is quite interesting.

The Shelter is to the east, the enemy's Ark is to the west, with fragments of the Wandering Island filled with zombie creatures in between, pulled over by Lin Yi.

This gives him enough time and opportunity to observe the enemy's situation and establish a strategy.

As expected, Solomon communicated via radio, "Boss! The drone has already sent back some images."

"I'm heading over now."

Lin Yi arrived at the equipment, eager to see what was happening on the invaders' Ark.

~~~~~~
The army of the Child of the Sun was slowly advancing on the fragments of the Wandering Island.
They weren't accustomed to the night, finding it unsettling.
A warrior holding a metal spear complained,
"How can intelligent beings live in such darkness? That cave in the mountain is simply too eerie... that sound is driving me crazy..."
"They're insects. They're often found on the fragments of the world and human Arks."
A laughing officer replied, an experienced junior commander fortunate enough to witness the occupation process of many world fragments.
But his words were rebutted by another officer.
"Fool! The insects among humans are tiny, usually only as big as your fingernail... Everyone, stop! The beetles have discovered something!"
This officer shouted, already noticing his beetle partner seemed agitated.
This squad, consisting of thirty soldiers and hundreds of beetles, was the main army's scouting team,
confident in their strength, but still cautiously wary of any ambushes.
"Raise the torches, illuminate the surrounding area!"
The officer ordered, and three warriors holding torches poured the orange liquid from their containers onto the flames.
With a loud roar, the flames shot into the sky, expanding to four times their original size.
The heat scorched the soldiers' faces, the crackling tongues of fire illuminating the space ahead of them.
"In the name of the Sun... this is..."
"Quick! Attack!"
The officer shouted furiously, ignoring the surrounding panic.
Lightning flickered on his sword, and he and his subordinates were surrounded by a shimmering yellow light shield.
But this light wasn't merely for illumination; if it touched enemy flesh, it had a burning effect.
When those holding the torches illuminated the entire area, the warriors saw hundreds of pairs of eyes staring at them.
The squad was completely surrounded...
A roar echoed in the dim environment, and zombies lunged at the fresh flesh.
Huge ants were the first to fall.
Despite their large size, they were utterly powerless against such a massive group of Third Level zombies.
The officer fiercely swung a strike at a terrifying monster, accompanied by a sizzle, hacking it into two charred chunks.
But new monsters immediately replaced the fallen ones.
The squad had difficulty holding their ground.
His soldiers were in worse condition, completely suppressed, without even room to wield their weapons.
Blood gushed forth.
As these greedy monsters devoured them alive, the soldiers let out agonizing screams.
Even their much-touted armor couldn't protect them...
"Hold your ground! Fight to the last drop of blood in the name of the Child of the Sun! We need to reduce their numbers..."
Before the officer could finish this sentence,
he discovered a massive spike had effortlessly pierced his metal armor like paper, emerging from his chest.
The last thing he saw was the pained expressions of his companions and the blood-soaked maw of a monster...
Not far away,
a soldier in silver armor ran nervously towards a man riding a large beetle.
"General, we haven't received a light signal from the scouts for five minutes."
"You're only telling me this now?! You fool! Stop the army immediately! Prepare for battle! Broadcast my orders at once!"
The General roared at his adjutant.
The adjutant obeyed, immediately blowing a short, deep melody on something resembling a large horn.
But then, a soldier ran over, shouting.
"General! We're having issues; our beetles are attacking each other!"
"Is there an evolved zombie here as well?! Murat, broadcast the battle readiness signal!"
The General shouted, suddenly hearing cries from the rear of the army, and he was appalled.
"What's happening at the back?! No... it mustn't be that!"
"General! The royal beetle has gone mad; it's attacking everyone!"
"What about its immunity to the Third Level virus?!"
...
A wave of death, composed of evolved zombies and freshly infected beetles, surged towards the beetle army and the army of the Child of the Sun from all directions.
A three-meter-long spike shot from the darkness, effortlessly piercing the giant beetle's shell, infecting it with the zombie virus.
Sun Warrior Su Alme was well protected, guarded by many warriors.
After the first wave of attacks, the Sun Army was assaulted by a massive group of Second and Third Level mutant zombies.
The zombies didn't form the usual wall of flesh; instead, they formed a series of arrowhead formations.
Armored mutants ran in front, followed by others, six powerful arrowhead formations breaking through the Sun Warrior's defenses.
Seeing the breakthrough, the zombies behind rushed in and launched an attack.
There were mages in the army of the Children of the Sun, but not many, and their role in the dark was limited...
The mutated zombies first attacked the torchbearers.
The general ordered a low melody to be played, signaling a full retreat of the army.
The Child of the Sun, Sua Alme, ordered his men to find a way to break through the enemies surrounding them, but he had to sacrifice all remaining beetles and half of his army...
~~~~~~

Inside the Shelter.

Lin Yi watched on the screen as the Sun Army retreated, downing his grape juice in one go.

He did not think the Sun Army was weak in capability.

In an open field, surrounded by tens of thousands of Third Level mutated zombies, even the Shelter would find it hard to win.

At this moment, Solomon looked at Lin Yi and sincerely exclaimed, "Boss, you are truly a genius!"

"Oh? Why the sudden praise?"

"How did you think of dragging a Wandering Island to change the course of the battle? The enemy initially came in full force to invade us, but now they've suffered heavy losses even before meeting us."

"Haha, I also think it's brilliant! Maybe in the end, we can turn from the invaded side to the side that profits from the fight, haha."

Hubert also burst out laughing but then looked at the screen in confusion.

"Why did those beetles turn into zombies?"

"The zombie virus only infects creatures with wisdom, so those beetles must be wise."

Lin Yi shrugged.

At this moment, all the officers, the commander of the Black army in the underground Shelter, and the elf and beastman representatives were with him in front of the base screen.

They were all watching on the screen as the enormous army of the enemy's Ark was annihilated in a gruesome manner.

Everyone was exhilarated.

Many who had never seen Lin Yi lead a battle were now deeply impressed by their boss.

On the screen.

A third of the Ark's army managed to escape, but in the process, they lost half of their soldiers again.

The Sun Warriors returned to their city, but the zombies followed closely, quickly laying siege.

The zombie beetles effortlessly climbed the city walls, and the evolved zombies launched several attacks.

But the Sun Ark's warriors came to their senses and successfully fought off several defensive battles.

However, more and more zombie hordes surged from the debris, including newly infected zombies and their evolved counterparts.

Lin Yi stroked his chin and looked at everyone.

"What do you think?"

"I think they're done for."

Hubert snorted, and everyone else nodded in agreement with his view.

Lin Yi grinned cunningly.

"They have a huge Ark, so there must be all sorts of valuable things inside... Can our vehicles travel in the desert, Hubert?"

"Yes, they can..."

"Then wake all the mechanicians, no matter what it takes, we need vehicles capable of moving through the desert. Preferably trucks."

The boss said as he pondered for a moment.

"Turn the intensity of the bait to maximum. I want to head to the battlefield by morning and gather all the equipment and spoils of war. There's still four hours before sunrise. They couldn't possibly launch another attack so soon."

"Okay, boss. Should we break camp and let the soldiers get some rest?"

"Go arrange it."

Lin Yi yawned and then went to sleep.

Tomorrow morning will surely be busy...

Hubert and Solomon proceeded to execute the orders without delay.

All mechanicians and engineers in the Shelter were awakened, even those from the underground Shelter.

They only had four hours to upgrade several large trucks.

Except for the soldiers stationed on the city walls and borders, all other soldiers went to sleep.

...

Early the next morning, Lin Yi woke up.

Evidently earlier than usual.

He had just had a bizarre dream where he was a great leader in the desert.

He ruled over tens of millions of people; the whole world was under his dominion, and he even had an enormous harem!

The harem included beauties of all races and species, including those living in the Sea of Space-Time.

The lustful ruler Lin Yi went to visit his concubines, intending to satisfy his desires once more.

At this time, hundreds of young women in thin white robes were happily chatting.

Some were swimming in the pool, while a few were enjoying mutual massages.

This harem only allowed the entry of women.

Of course, except for Lin Yi.

When the girls saw their husband, they immediately jumped up enthusiastically.

At this moment, Chen Youyou, wearing a Greek-style robe with a laurel wreath and holding a folder filled with documents, stepped forward.

He summoned two girls whose turn it was to serve in the bedchamber.

Lin Yi entered a room and then the girls came in after him... They were covered in white cloth from head to toe, even their faces were concealed.

The girls took off their voluminous robes, revealing—

A half-human, half-ant creature and a tall, completely transparent-skinned woman...

Damn!?

Lin Yi awoke from the dream, soaked in cold sweat...
