Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields

Chapter 108: Boss is Awesome

Paris streets.

Lin Yi had never thought about this question before: does life substance exist in metal waste?

The answer is: both yes and no, very abstract.

[The pit has processed this item]

[Shelter has acquired 377 units of substance*]

"Shelter, what does the asterisk mean after the substance, and what's the use of this substance?"

["Substance" refers to non-biological things, and the asterisk indicates you can check the extended list]

[Do you think iron, stone, or glass are all the same kind of substance? Lower life forms?]

Seeing the shelter's response, Lin Yi's right brow bone unconsciously twitched.

Is it taunting me with words?

Are you dizzy from hunger!

Lin Yi waved his hand and modified the transmission permissions rules for all soldiers.

Previously, warriors could only transport corpses to the pit and items to the warehouse, but now they can also send items into the bottomless pit.

After changing the permission parameters, he raised his arm and yelled.

"Listen up! On the way, send everything that can be transmitted back into the pit! Even if it's just a streetlamp, as long as it can be sent, send it in!"

A soldier heard the command, received the permission, and quickly put his hand on a car.

In an instant, the car disappeared, leaving behind shards of glass and some junk.

"Success!" the soldier shouted excitedly.

[The pit has processed this item]

[Shelter has acquired 299 units of substance*]

"Nicely done." Lin Yi nodded approvingly.

However, to be on the safe side, he set a restriction on the types of items the warriors could transmit.

It must be recognized by the shelter as junk, otherwise some idiot might send an entire tank into the pit.

At this moment, Melanie's voice suddenly came through the headset: "Boss, there's a large group of zombies up ahead."

"How many?"

"Three hundred."

"Hmm… I have a plan."

Lin Yi returned to the shelter, did some authorization-related operations, and then returned to real-world Paris.

"Retreat, transfer thirty cars to location J." Boss ordered loudly.

Solomon looked bewildered: "J point?"

But he quickly understood.

In the transmission permissions, there was a newly named area "J" by the boss—

The World of Space-Time Fragments!

"J", junk, the meaning of rubbish.

Lin Yi clearly regarded the World of Space-Time Fragments as a backup junkyard for the shelter.

Solomon didn't yet know why the boss wanted to transfer thirty cars to point J.

But without hesitation, he executed immediately.

As zombies slowly but steadily approached, soldiers started running around.

They nervously transmitted one car after another onto the occupied Fragment World.

At this moment, a large pile of scrap cars was assembled there.

"Retreat!"

With Lin Yi's quiet shout, all the warriors lined up behind the boss, ready and waiting.

Lin Yi raised an arm and crooked a finger.

Boom boom boom!

Scrap cars came falling from the sky.

In an instant, the street assembled a genuine barrier made of cars.

"Awesome!"

The soldiers shouted out in shock, this was a new word they learned from the boss.

Lin Yi waved his hand: "Everyone, get in position, start earning Experience Points!"

"Yes, Boss!" the soldiers shouted in unison.

"Don't shout so loud! Or else all the zombies will rush at us!" Lin Yi shouted at the soldiers, who were high on adrenaline.

The battle officially began.

Zombies were like black tides, smashing against the car barricade, unable to shake it at all.

All car doors were open to the zombies, so they could only try to pass through the barrier.

Some crawled from under the hoods, while others went through the car doors.

But no matter where they walked, cold shining blades and axes awaited them.

The archers were efficiently racking up Experience Points; their arrows were so numerous, they almost couldn't be counted! They would pull arrows out from the zombie bodies, reusing them.

"If only there was a Long Spear…"

A soldier said while stabbing a zombie crawling from under an open hood.

Lin Yi touched his chin: "That's a good idea, a Long Spear might be better in certain scenarios."

"Boss, you're getting flanked!" Melanie's panicked voice came through the headset.

She hadn't expected the zombies would use tactics, so she didn't notice the mutant zombies flanking from behind.

Lin Yi turned around, only to see an agile-type mutated zombie sneaking up from behind.

Lin Yi remained steady and hadn't acted yet.

Solomon stepped forward and swept the agile-type zombie with a Submachine Gun.

He first hit its left leg, then immediately activated his skill.

The mutant zombie stumbled but stood back up quickly, however, a giant stone fist was already smashing straight at its face.

The zombie tried to dodge, but it was too late.

The stone fist hit its target, smashing the ugly face of the mutant zombie into pulp.

Solomon followed up relentlessly, landing another strike, and the agile-type zombie was completely dead.

"Well… done, Solomon."

Lin Yi intended to say—"That's my Experience Points!", but ended up not.

Now, killing ordinary zombies didn't provide much improvement for him; only mutant zombies did.

But he wouldn't slack off on leveling up and enhancing his combat powers, just because he was a farmer.

"Any other situations, Melanie?" Lin Yi asked while surveying the battlefield.

Currently, everything was progressing smoothly, mainly due to the incredibly effective barricade! It worked wonders!

Although zombies had to slowly trudge toward the soldiers, slowing down the combat pace, no one was injured, and the soldiers wouldn't get too tired.

They only need to stand there, chop away, occasionally toss corpses into the pit.

Which is why every camp in Paris had barricade defenses set.

"... Everything looks normal right now." Melanie reported.

Upon hearing this, Lin Yi nodded.

More than half of the warriors here were equipped with System Armor, and all warriors' Vaccine Bracelets were filled with lifesaving vaccines.

So they fought confidently, even fiercely.

Each one tried to rake in as much Experience Points as possible and perform before the boss.

After all, they knew the shelter's warrior teams would grow stronger.

As long as these veterans kept steady and worked hard, promotion and rank advancement were within reach.

"I leveled up to Level 5!" Da Chuan shouted.

His half-man-half-bear body began to change, muscles bulged, skin thickened, arms and legs grew robust.

Due to overly thick fingers, he could no longer use firearms but could wield melee weapons.

His big claws could easily tear zombie guts; fangs could pierce thin metal.

His body data significantly improved, and his immunity made him immune to Level 2 viruses.

"Fantastic, pretty amazing!"

Lin Yi smiled.

His meat shield had gotten stronger...
