Even if we take a step back and assume the array that revitalizes the old with the new becomes accessible to all major immortal sects, it would amount to nothing more than a slight increase in combat power comparable to that of Taoist Monarchs.
The current state of affairs in the world is rapidly changing, with newly ascended Dao Lords aggressively pushing forward, forcing even established Dao Lords to leave the Diaoyu Island and personally enter the fray.
This means that the current conflict is no longer confined to the level of True Immortals; Dao Lords are being dragged into the waters, and clashes between them are no longer rare occurrences.
In such a scenario, even if these large immortal sects possess such arrays, apart from providing some assurance for themselves, they fundamentally cannot influence the situation between heaven and earth.
After all, the operation of these arrays is not something to be taken lightly, as they require the consumption of substantial resources. A few interventions may be manageable, but frequent interventions would likely deplete their foundational reserves.
The gap between top immortal sects and large immortal sects is not just in the strength of Taoist Monarchs but also in the accumulation of resource bases. If these large immortal sects can afford to sustain these arrays, then the top sects can too, and even more so.
"Your meaning seems to imply that you want all parties to lay their cards on the table?" Yu Zhenzi pondered, as if he had grasped a part of Pei Xuanjing's thoughts.
Pei Xuanjing nodded: "Resources are meant to be used. Only by bringing forth more powerful beings can we accelerate expansion and promote faster advancement of the Divine Land World. If we hoard all the resources we grab and fail to use them, like a miserly landlord, then keeping them would be meaningless."
The number of True Immortals in the world at this moment seems abundant, but in reality, it is not the limit. Various immortal sects claim their resources cannot support more True Immortals and need to expand to acquire more resources, but this should be taken with a grain of salt and never taken seriously.
Holding back a trump card is the instinctual practice of cultivators, or for any power.
The present time is not like the immediate aftermath of Enthroning Gods, when everyone was expending all resources to drive out the Demon Race and to become Tao-Certifying True Immortals, leaving nothing behind.
With the evolution over ten thousand years, they've had ample strength to accumulate foundational reserves, and because the world's pattern has stabilized, for top immortal sects and large immortal sects, unless another Daoist Monarch emerges, the elevation of ordinary True Immortals carries no significance.
Therefore, these sects, whether to conserve strength or to preserve their immortal lineages, have unanimously prepared a contingency and retained ample foundational reserves.
From their standpoint, there is no issue at all, but in Pei Xuanjing's view, this is no doubt a great waste of resources and affects the speed at which the world develops.
Resources can only be called such when they are genuinely put to use. If they cannot be employed, merely lying idle, then they hold no value whatsoever.
This is Pei Xuanjing's philosophy; his views have never been aligned with those of the strong in these immortal sects.
Pei Xuanjing understands their methods; the way of always keeping something in reserve, being prepared for unexpected events can indeed handle many surprises and buffer any crisis without being completely unresponsive.
But from the standpoint of Pei Xuanjing, what he wishes for is the continuous prosperity and ascension of the Divine Land World, as this aligns with his interests.
Pei Xuanjing has reached the Ultimate Realm in the paths of Heaven, Earth, Human, God, Ghost Five Immortals; he now stands at the pinnacle of the Immortal Dao, beginning to explore the levels of detachment he has deduced, the so-called Taiyi, the Great Luo Realm, and even has some clues toward it.
However, just like when the Divine Land World had not yet ascended, many Supreme Overlords were stuck before the threshold of the Immortal Dao, not for lack of effort or talent, but because of the constraints of heaven and earth, the upper limit was set, preventing them from advancing further.
So now, for Pei Xuanjing, he is in a similar situation, having reached the Extreme Realm of the Immortal Path, he too feels a kind of restraint, a binding by the universe—if it weren't for his control over the Heavenly Authority, or his own formidable power, the cosmos might have turned to suppress and expel him.
However, even so, at the level of Pei Xuanjing, his strength is continuously rising, the foundation of his power keeps soaring, and the cosmos's attitude toward him is also constantly transforming.
The universe is utmost fair, treating all beings without discrimination, all creatures are children of the cosmos, blessed by it, but this is under the condition that they pose no threat to the universe.
Even though the cosmos lacks sentience, its instinctual reactions are even more direct; when Pei Xuanjing once held no power that threatened the universe, his existence naturally obtained the cosmos's acknowledgment, appreciation, and support.
But as Pei Xuanjing became stronger and gradually on par with the universe, even if he expressed no malice towards it, to the universe, Pei Xuanjing was a significant threat.
Many strong beings are aware that after Pei Xuanjing consecutively manifested his Divine Immortal Path incarnation as the Emperor of the South Pole Eternal Life, and his Ghost Immortal Path incarnation as the Fengdu Emperor, as well as his Heavenly Immortal, Human Immortal, and Earth Immortal Path incarnations, leaving only his True Immortal self, he began to seek a new cultivation goal by attempting the path of Return to Purity and Simplicity.
But what they did not know is that Pei Xuanjing's actions were not truly voluntary; even if Pei Xuanjing had such thoughts previously, after manifesting his Divine Immortal and Ghost Immortal Path incarnations, he also considered manifesting his five True Immortal Paths, leaving only the True Body to seek out the future path in the purest form.
However, this was based on the premise that he had not found a new path at the beginning, acting as the last alternative.
But now that he has already started to explore how to progress further, and has deduced the existence of the Taiyi and Great Luo Realms, Pei Xuanjing's first consideration is how to break through.
Yet, due to the limitations of the universe, all his plans remain hypothetical and simply cannot be put into action; even the growth of his power compels him to settle for the next best thing - to manifest incarnations of the Immortal Path.
So this method and path, which seems quite excellent in the eyes of many Dao Lords, is actually just a fallback for Pei Xuanjing.
What Pei Xuanjing desires more is to elevate the Divine Land World once again, to wait for the shackles of this universe to disappear, and then to ascend further himself, attempting to enter the Detachment Realm, truly Immortal and Indestructible.
However, the elevation of a world is never something that can be achieved by the power of one person alone, even with Pei Xuanjing's current status as the strongest entity between heaven and earth, and with the substantial support of the Shenxiao Sect, it's completely unattainable.
His power can certainly roam unbridled within the Divine Land World and even across the Realms of Heavenly Seas, being the truly peak existence, but this power is just a drop in the ocean compared to the power required for the Divine Land World's elevation.
Considering the current status of the Divine Land World, which has merged with countless other worlds, it has long since ceased to be comparable to the ordinary world it once was.
Keep in mind that the Divine Land World had just ascended in the past, with a limited number of True Immortals it could accommodate, even the arrival of a single Taoist Lord might have been too much to bear.
In the current Divine Land World, there is an innumerable count of True Immortals, and countless Taoist Lords; it is indisputably the center of the Chaotic Void Heavens and Seas, just one step short of becoming a Great Thousand Worlds.
Of course, this one step is an enormous difference; though the Divine Land World's elevation seems near, it may well require an unknown amount of time.
And it is this moment that Pei Xuanjing is waiting for—the moment when the Divine Land World truly ascends, perhaps also the moment for his further advancement.
