"King Solomon" I nodded slowly, my brows furrowing in thought of where I heard that name before.
"I think I've heard of that name somewhere" I said with an unsure look.
Claire gave a enigmatic smile in response to my words her eyes gleamed with a hint of amusement as she said softly "Ah yes, King Solomon is a figure of great significance in both the religious and mages faction, He was said to possess immense wisdom and power being capable of commanding even the most powerful of demons".
My eyes widened in surprise at Claire's clarification "Demons you mean like Like Liliana, Demons from Hell?".
That was a surprise to me...
Does that mean someone can summon me aswell.
If so then how should I react to that.
Fortunately to my relief Claire shook her head in denial "No" she said seriously "When we refer to Demons in the context of magecraft we're not talking about the demons who fell from the heaven but spiritual manifestations of their concepts". She paused thought of an example.
"The term demon here is more akin to to a spiritual entity who shares the same demonic name as demons of hell...in essence these demoic spirits are the real origin of how the fallen angels got their demonic names".
Claire nodded to herself as it felt a like apt explanation for the differences between demonic spirits and Demons and continued after remembering something.
"Ah yeah Some groups of mages also refer to these entities as Djins to distinguish between Demons and them, They are powerful spiritual beings that can only be summoned by extremely powerful mages".
I listened intently already understanding the difference as the new information poured into my head.
"So," I asked slowly.
"These demons... Or Djinns... they're not evil by nature?".
I was curious whether they pose a threat to us but thinking that Mages aren't really targeted by the world or something it should be fine.
And thankfully Claire shook her head in denial and explained.
"No they are not a threat as they can't interact with the world without a contract with a mage even then it depends on the mage whether the demonic spirit pose a threat" Claire explained clearly then added "Also Most djins aren't Evil by nature but they certainly mischievous enough to cause plenty of troubles".
"I see" I nodded and glanced towards Aisha who wasn't showing any ounce of reaction towards the topic of demonic spirits or rather she doesn't look to like the subject at all.
After all she was doing off with a quiet expression of sleep.
"Aisha what do you think of these Djins?" I Asked her to know what was on her mind.
Hearing my question Aisha stirred up from her light slumber and gave a annoyed side glance.
"You want to know my thoughts? Fine I hate those types of Spirit".
She said and looked away in annoyance...
It seems she doesn't like Djins.
'Maybe They might not be evil by nature but for Aisha to hate them so much like this, they must be quite troublesome for the church' I mused and brought my attention back to Claire as she coughed and continued.
"Most Djins are indeed mischievous by nature, but some are simply too bored and become prone to causing trouble out of sheer ennui and it becomes worse if the contractor is the same" she began pacing slowly her hands clasped behind her back.
"In that kind situation Its usually the mage association who captures such troublemakers and imprison them or worse execute the Mage and seal the demonic spirit".
"But still their actions aren't necessarily driven by malice or a desire to do harm,"she explained "It's more about their innate curiosity and the thrill of stirring things up."
'They sound like trouble alright' I thought with a wry smile as I nodded slowly, "So," I said cautiously. "If a mage forms a contract with one of these Djinns...what kind of powers might they gain?".
It was the most important thing I wanted to know first.
After all I might need to face such an opponent if things went south.
Claire's lips curved into a small, enigmatic smile as she answered "That depends entirely on the specific Djinn and the terms of the contract,"she said softly. Then she continued solemnly, her gaze piercing as she looked at me. "Anyways,"she said, her tone serious.
"What you need to know is that demonic spirits are extremely rare to be summoned by a mage. Usually, they don't bother answering the call of the mage unless it's someone with a strong bloodline who can call them."
She then paused, her expression thoughtful. As she added "Mages typically form contracts with other kinds of spirits elemental spirits, nature spirits, or even ancestral spirits,"
She further explained. "These spirits are more willing and able to form bonds with humans."
I gave a nod of understanding, "Hmm, I understand," I said slowly. "This information will definitely help if things go south during the meeting."
'Though I think I should have a countermeasure against mages hmm... maybe I should resume my research on magic and mana ' I momentarily thought about contacting Merlin but immediately shook the idea aside.
'She will only bring more trouble to me' I sighed as my head started hurting at the mere thought of her.
Then I turned to Aisha, a hint of concern in my eyes. "Do you think you'll be able to handle yourself if things get heated?" I asked softly.
Aisha's expression hardened at my words as a fierce glow of determination flashed from her blindfolded eyes.
"I'm a Saintess" She reminded me with a proud look.
"I've faced worse than a group of annoying stick weilders, I can hold my own".
Claire smiled approvingly at Aisha's confidence before turning back to me. "Remember," she warned "The mages Association is not to be underestimated They are powerful and cunning trust your instincts and stay extremely vigilant".
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the challenges that lay ahead. "I will," I promised solemnly.
Claire nodded, her expression turning serious. "Fine then," she said, her tone laced with a hint of resignation.
"I'll take my leave now. I can't keep bending these stupid rules or risk my dear old mother finding out."
She glanced at me and Aisha one last time, her gaze lingering on our faces.
"Stay safe," she murmured softly. "And remember what I've told you."
With a wave of her hand, Claire formed a shimmering portal behind her. She stepped back, preparing to depart, when she paused suddenly.
"Oh, and My lord?" she called out, her voice barely audible over the hum of the portal. "Don't forget to lock the door when you leave."
And with that final instruction, Claire stepped through the portal and vanished, leaving me and Aisha alone in the mansion once more.
.....
..
The atmosphere in the mansion remained quiet for a moment after Claire's departure, the sudden silence palpable.
Valerian, attempting to break the ice, turned to Aisha with a playful smirk.
"Hmm, wanna flirt a little before we prepare to leave for England?"he suggested lightly.
"...."
However, his attempt at humor fell flat as Aisha stared at him blankly, clearly not understanding his meaning. Her brow furrowed in confusion, and she tilted her head slightly.
"What do you mean by 'flirt'?" she asked innocently.
"Is that some kind of human custom I'm not familiar with?"
Valerian blinked, momentarily taken aback by her genuine ignorance.
Valerian's face flushed slightly as he realized the implications of his suggestion. 'Ahh, she's a
nun,' he thought to himself sheepishly. 'I totally forgot that one.'
He quickly recovered, flashing Aisha a wry smile. "Nevermind,"he said dismissively, waving his hand as if to brush off the entire conversation.
Aisha nodded, accepting his explanation without further question. She turned her attention back to the task at hand, her expression serious once more.
"We should start preparing for our journey to England,"she suggested practicality."There's much to do and little time to waste."
Valerian agreed, pushing aside his momentary lapse in judgment. He knew Aisha was right they had a crucial meeting to attend and precious little time to prepare.
Valerian stood up from the couch, his mind already preoccupied with finding his room in the unfamiliar mansion. He left Aisha alone in the living room, unaware of the internal turmoil she was experiencing.
As soon as he was out of sight, Aisha let out a heavy sigh, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. She covered her face with her palms, trying to calm her racing thoughts.
"How could I think of those dirty things when he said that?"she muttered to herself, her voice muffled behind her hands."Ahh!"
She took a deep breath, attempting to compose herself.
It wasn't like her to have such impure thoughts especially not about Valerian. She was a saintess, after all. But there was something about him that made her feel...different.
Shaking her head vigorously, Aisha tried to banish the lingering images from her mind. She had a mission to focus on and she couldn't let herself get distracted by foolish fantasies.
