SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God

Chapter 549: Those cute little munchkins?

Damon immediately activated Shadow Clone, followed by Blood Lance. His clone charged first, deliberately drawing aggro, but the sylphid spun mid-air and shimmered away with a blink. Just as expected. High agility, insane evasion. A normal player would've whiffed every strike.

However, Damon was not done yet.

He focused one hundred percent with his primordial senses. In the next instant, he caught a subtle mana pulse behind him and whirled. His hand blurred as a dozen blood tendrils appeared. Each one shot forward in many different directions. Then, more blood tendrils appeared, this time covering more locations.

The fairy's face twisted. The cute girl's face morphed into something devious and wild, sharp teeth flashing behind a too-wide smile, her eyes glowing with an unholy violet gleam. No longer playful, no longer harmless. This was the true face of the Jewelwing Sylphid.

The fairy screamed in anger and rage as she tried to escape the net of blood tendrils, but it was impossible. Damon used a sheer brute force method to completely lock down the area. No matter where she moved, he was there.

Her wings beat rapidly, leaving shimmering afterimages behind as she darted left, then right, only to find herself hemmed in at every turn.

Three of Damon's blood tendrils struck home, piercing through her shoulder, hip, and wing. She shrieked, spinning in place, trying to phase out again, but the venomous tendrils made a quick work of the fairy.

She thrashed. She shrieked. She spat mana bolts in every direction. But it was useless. A snare of blood locked around her torso mid-cast, dragging her toward the forest floor like a hooked fish reeled in from the skies.

Her form shimmered wildly. Wings shattered into motes of radiant light. Her cries became louder and frenzied as her health bottomed out. Damon immediately started absorbing all of the rich blood essence spilled all over.

Fairy blood had a silver component to it, which made the blood gleam like molten moonlight as it pooled on the mossy forest floor. Damon absorbed all of it.

After a second, the fairy's body crumbled into particles of light, her final scream echoing like a fading wind chime through the strange inverted trees above. A mana core remained behind.

As the shadow clone picked up the mana core, Damon had a satisfied smile on his face.

[Ding! Blood Extraction successful]

[Ding! You have extracted the ability 'Sylphid Blink']

Sylphid Blink: Instantly teleport a short distance and leave behind a false mana aura that lures enemy attacks for 2 seconds.

[Ding! You have gained +1 luck]

[Ding! You have killed Jewelwing Sylphid]

[Ding! You have gained experience points]

Damon closed the system interface and started the search for more fairies. Just one point of luck was not nearly enough to tip anything in his favor. He was going to need more. A lot more of the stat.

His fingers curled slightly, the blood tendrils retreating into his skin as he looked around the glade. Jewelwing Sylphids were the lowest tier among the outer guardians of the oasis. There would be stronger fairies deeper in, each more beautiful, more twisted, and exponentially more dangerous.

He stepped forward, deeper into the fairy woods. This dungeon wasn't like others. The deeper one went, the more reality bent. Time looped. Directions reversed. Spells misfired.

Some of the outer fairies had gravity-defying tricks, others wielded illusion, dream magic, or emotion-based attacks. Damon was counting on it. If one outer sylphid gave him a point in Luck and a sweet teleportation skill… how much would an inner guardian give?

His smirk deepened, crimson eyes flashing. "Let's see how many I can break before this place kicks me out." This place was a treasure trove for him, and he was going to take everything he could. His luck has been shitty for a while now. It was time to get out of the slump by stacking more luck points.

Damon quickly scoured through the forests, and soon he came across two more fairies, a cute boy and girl, both playing with each other, tossing around a ball of leaves and flowers. When Damon arrived, their expression changed.

The boy's purple eyes narrowed while the girl's iridescent wings flared open, showering the clearing with glittering pollen. The ball they had been tossing stopped midair, held in place by invisible threads of mana.

Both fairies slowly floated down until their bare feet touched the mossy ground, their gazes fixed on Damon. The next moment, the two exploded with violent killing intent as they unleashed a barrage of attacks.

[Flutterleaf Dryad - Lv. 134]

[Bloomveil Pixie - Lv. 136]

Both were elite, and both were stronger than the last one. Perfect.

The ball of leaves exploded outward, transforming into dozens of razor-sharp petals. Damon activated [Sylphid Blink] and vanished an instant before the wave hit, reappearing behind a tree trunk with a quiet flicker.

The dryad struck next, roots bursting from the forest floor like vipers, each aiming for his legs. Damon also unleashed his blood tendrils as poison seeped into the lush forest. Even though luck was on their side, the two fairies could not escape the overpowered slaughter that ensued.

Damon used mana like water and went all out. Sharp snaps echoed as corrupted tendrils clashed against enchanted flora. The two fairies struggled a lot, but against Damon's overpowered stats and mana resource, they simply could not hold on.

Soon, the two fell just like the outer Sylphid. The dryad collapsed first, her limbs crumbling into decayed bark and dying leaves as Damon's blood tendrils choked the life from her mana-rooted body after sucking all of the blood essence.

The bloomveil pixie followed shortly after, her illusions failing one by one until Damon's Shadow Clone caught her mid-flight. A final blood spike punched through her chest, pinning her to the curved trunk of a levitating tree, draining her blood essence. Her form dissolved into luminous dust, caught in the lazy spin of the glade's mana winds.
