Aurora rubbed her forehead with an exaggerated pout. "That hurt, hubby."
Damon laughed. "I doubt it." He already started walking away before she could start round two of seduction disguised as cuteness. "Get the quests done, troublemaker."
"Okay. I need some attention after that, hubby~" Aurora giggled and took out a teleportation scroll from her spatial ring and activated it.
"Hubby… one more thing, can't you get rid of that egg, somehow? I hate it. It's so awkward and uncomfortable!" Aurora huffed, puffing out her cheeks like a spoiled princess before she disappeared.
Damon could only laugh at her antics. He was glad that everything had turned out well in the end, even though it was touch-and-go for a while there. His eyes turned cold as he thought about the people responsible for everything.
They didn't just fuck with him once, but they chose to do it two times. Even after the lesson he had taught them with the abyssal zone.
But he couldn't blame them. The mistake had always been on his part. He was the one who had misjudged the true depth of their power.
He wouldn't be careless and overconfident this time around. His next blow would be one they would never recover from. This time, he would first understand more about his enemies before he moved to erase them completely from the game and from the real world.
There was no need to leave any loose ends.
First, he needed to solve the issue of the soul attacks. He had to build up his soul strength one way or the other. Before approaching the vampire main families about this topic, there was one more person whom he wanted to meet. His fiance, the elven princess Lirae.
He had already asked the elven girl about soul strengthening and he had not gotten any response from her. But now that he had evolved again, he wanted to try one more time. In his last life, Damon had heard many rumors about elves being strong in several aspects. Surely, they had their version of soul techniques?
He opened his system interface and called for Kaelthorn. "Can you bring her over here?"
He hadn't seen green eyes in a while and wondered how the elven girl was doing. There was also another reason. He wanted her to meet his Lirae. Maybe the girl would be more at ease with someone of her same race.
He needed to talk to Lirae about many things, and while he did that, he might as well try finding out more about the elven girl. "Are you sure you don't know anything about her, Blood Reign?" Damon asked the weapon spirit again.
Blood Reign decisively said no. "I only know that she has a remarkable fate, my liege. It's just a feeling I got after I saw her in the slave auction."
"Okay." Damon nodded and took out Lirae's token. He activated the token and waited. Surprisingly, unlike usual, there was no activity around the token, and Lirae did not appear immediately.
"Hmmmm…" Damon frowned. Did someone target her too? He had kept everything about her a complete secret, but then again, she did help get his family released. Maybe the main families took a swing at her while he was busy in the war?
"Fuck." Damon knew he needed to find out what happened immediately. He didn't wait another second.
He remembered the Cerulean city very well and immediately opened up a portal for it using Blood Gate. Kaelthorn appeared with the elven girl, and Damon brought the two of them with him as they all vanished from the Blood Hall through the portal.
They emerged on the outskirts of Cerulean City the next moment. The city hadn't changed much. Tall spires carved from enchanted sapphire stone gleamed faintly in the waning sunlight, and canals of sparkling water still flowed beneath the bridges. Nothing seemed out of place at all.
"There are absolutely no signs of disturbance." Damon narrowed his eyes as he observed everything and walked through the city gates. His amulet was still working, his aura was contained, and no one suspected a thing as he casually strolled into the city.
"Everything inside the city seems to be normal so there should be something going on in the royal kingdom." Damon frowned as he started walking in the direction of the royal palace. Kaelthorn and the green-eyed elven girl followed closely behind.
The palace soon came into view, perched upon a rise and flanked by ancient trees whose branches shimmered with colorful foliage. At a glance, it looked like a scene from a painting.
There were elegant towers woven with gold-threaded ivy, crystal bridges arched over clear blue pools, and banners fluttering with the sigil of the Crown.
More notably, guards with the royal uniform patrolled everywhere. This was a Kingdom capital city, a little different than normal cities. There were lot more guards and security everywhere.
Not just that but the city itself was a bigger place with more amenities and a first class market and auction house. Damon had directly walked over to the palace using a shortcut he knew. Otherwise, he would have been drowned in the crowd of the public square.
However, this was the easy part. Now to get into the palace… especially if there was something going on… He needed some sort of leverage. He knew exactly what item to use.
Damon walked over to one of the guards and spoke. "I am here to meet Princess Lirae. I have come back with an item she ordered me to bring."
However, the guard only shook his head. "We were given orders not to disturb the Princess." He bluntly replied. "No visitors are to be allowed without explicit royal summons."
Damon smiled and took out Lirae's personal token. "The princess asked me to come meet her no matter what. This is something of extreme importance."
Normally, the token should have granted him entry but the guard's face only became more hostile. "Didn't I already ask you to get lost?"
