The moment Wong Teng fainted, Li Jun felt the threat of death coiling around him like a venomous snake.
Wong Teng had only hurled a few insults at Xu Ke… and now his arms and legs were broken.
What about him? Wasn't he as good as dead?!
"How does it feel?" Xu Ke asked, looking at Li Jun after he was done.
Li Jun's lips trembled. In the darkness of the night, a wet patch was visibly spreading across the crotch of his pants.
That's right. In his state of utter collapse, a single sentence from Xu Ke had scared him into wetting himself.
Xu Ke frowned. "You scare too easily."
"Please, please spare me."
Li Jun was not as brainless as the members of the Siao family. Even when they saw Xu Ke's strength, they chose to mock and resist him stubbornly. As a result, Siao Fan was still in a police station cell, and Siao Jia had already met her demise.
As someone from a major family, Li Jun knew that if he didn't beg for mercy now, he might never get another chance.
"Why?" Xu Ke sneered. Just because Li Jun was begging for mercy didn't mean Xu Ke had to forgive him.
"I… I can give you money…" Li Jun's hands trembled as he held out a bank card to Xu Ke. "The PIN is six eights. There's three hundred thousand in it. It was from Young Master Fan… No, from that bastard Ye Fan. He gave it to me to harm you."
"But now I've seen the light, Xu Ke, Brother Xu. Please, I'm begging you, let me go."
Li Jun's face was a mask of misery as he pleaded repeatedly. But inside, he was seething with resentment. Xu Ke, next time… next time I'll bring someone even more powerful to destroy you.
Li Jun concealed his resentment perfectly, aided by the darkness. Xu Ke didn't see the look in his eyes.
Xu Ke hadn't intended to take the money. But then he remembered he needed to prepare a medicated bath, which would likely cost at least a hundred thousand for the herbs alone. He reached out and took the card.
Seeing Xu Ke take the card, Li Jun froze for a moment before being overcome with joy. Could it be… that Xu Ke planned to spare him after taking the money? Of course. The guy's just some pauper who can't resist the temptation of money. Li Jun mocked him inwardly but didn't dare let a hint of it show on his face, afraid Xu Ke would see through him.
"Good. Anything else you want to say?" Xu Ke asked.
Li Jun was startled. His momentary ecstasy vanished instantly, replaced by a chilling dread, as if he'd been plunged into an ice cellar. "W-what?"
"I should give you a parting gift, shouldn't I?" Xu Ke said with a grin.
"What kind of parting gift?" Li Jun's face stiffened.
Xu Ke lunged forward, grabbing Li Jun by the head and violently smashing it against the wall.
BANG!
Brick dust and debris scattered, glinting in the moonlight as they fell. There was a certain beauty to it. A cruel and violent beauty.
Li Jun's head was instantly split open, blood gushing from the wound. "Ah, ah…" he screamed in agony.
Blood gushed down from his forehead, blurring his vision. The intense pain seemed to paralyze his nerves, and for a moment, he couldn't even manage a proper scream.
"Li Jun, I've always been one to hold a grudge," Xu Ke said coolly.
As his words fell, a chill shot through Li Jun's heart, so potent that he momentarily forgot the pain in his forehead. The murderous intent radiating from Xu Ke was simply too thick.
Xu Ke continued, his voice sounding like a neighborhood kid reminiscing with a friend, yet his tone sent a chill down the spine.
"When you stole Siao Jia from me and backed me into a corner, I swore I'd pay you back."
"When you drove your car towards me intending to hit me, I decided I would make you suffer the same pain."
"But when you incited Siao Jia to forge photos to harass my parents, I changed my mind."
"I decided I'd send you to hell."
Xu Ke looked up, a frenzied killing intent gathering in his dark pupils.
"No, don't!" Li Jun's face contorted in terror.
He had a sickening premonition of what was about to happen. He pleaded. He wanted to flee. He even began to feel regret!
But a new wave of pain spread through Li Jun's body. This time, it came from his heart.
"Go to hell," Xu Ke said flatly.
He slowly released his grip, leaving the small knife permanently lodged inside Li Jun's body.
In that moment, Xu Ke had used nearly all his strength. As such, there was no chance for Li Jun to hang on; he died on the spot.
A look of bone-deep terror, despair, and regret was frozen in Li Jun's eyes.
THUD.
Li Jun's limp body hit the ground, splashing mud onto Xu Ke's pant leg.
"How much did you see?" Xu Ke asked coolly, without turning his head.
"I… I didn't see anything." The only bodyguard in black still sane enough to think was almost too scared to speak.
"Can you stand up?" Xu Ke asked coolly.
"I can, I can…" The bodyguard, who had just been wailing and crying, didn't dare make another sound. He scrambled to his feet and went over to Xu Ke.
"Bend over," Xu Ke commanded.
The bodyguard bent over.
"Stab Li Jun," Xu Ke ordered, taking out his phone.
The bodyguard's face went white. "Is that really necessary? I won't say anything." Was Xu Ke trying to frame him?
"Then I'll send you down to join him," Xu Ke said flatly.
The bodyguard obediently took out his utility knife and plunged it down. With each stab, his movements grew more ferocious. If it weren't for Li Jun, he wouldn't have been stabbed tonight, and he certainly wouldn't be forced to take the fall!
"That's enough," Xu Ke said coolly.
The bodyguard stopped.
"Now go and stab the other two," Xu Ke commanded coolly.
The bodyguard's face drained of color. "But those two aren't dead!"
"That's why I'm telling you to go," Xu Ke said flatly.
If recent events hadn't piled up and caused him to lose control and act personally, Xu Ke wouldn't have wanted to get blood on his hands. It was a good thing there was a bodyguard to take the blame.
"Wong Teng doesn't matter, but Uncle Ming is one of the Ye Family's men," the bodyguard hesitated.
"I've already crippled him," Xu Ke said. He looked at the bodyguard with a smirk. "Do you really think the Ye Family has any use for a cripple?"
"Fine…" The bodyguard gritted his teeth, stepped forward, and finished off the other men, one by one. Blood splattered.
After he had done everything, the bodyguard was trembling. "Is… is that enough?"
This was the first time he'd ever had to finish off his own companions, and his mental defenses were on the verge of collapse. But what truly broke him was what came next. Xu Ke held out his phone, displaying a message. "Call your young master and read him this."
"No, I can't!" the bodyguard trembled.
"Call." Xu Ke was expressionless.
The bodyguard had no choice but to call Ye Fan. "Young… Young Master Fan. We've done what you asked. We attacked Xu Ke. Uncle Ming and I are heading back now."
The call ended.
Xu Ke took back his phone, stopped the recording, and said coolly, "How did Ye Fan instruct you to attack me? Let me see your phone."
The bodyguard's face paled. "No, you can't."
But Xu Ke simply snatched it away without another word.
Ye Fan had been cautious. The chat history with the bodyguard contained little incriminating evidence; nearly everything had been deleted. But Xu Ke hadn't been expecting to topple Ye Fan in a single move with just a bodyguard's phone.
He simply photographed the few remaining chat records that the bodyguard hadn't had time to delete—the ones where Ye Fan instructed them to attack him—and recorded a video of the screen for good measure.
"Alright, take them back," Xu Ke said coolly, turning and walking out of the alley.
The bodyguard was left alone in the alley, facing three cold, limp bodies. He was terrified and desperate.
He didn't know how he was going to dispose of the three bodies, nor did he know how he would explain any of this to Ye Fan. The operation was a total, catastrophic failure.
