I watched as he went down the steps, his gaze was immediately fixed on me. None of the people behind him seemed to be moving so maybe he didn't plan to fight?
He gestured for me to come over, the girls were also within the manor grounds as well but they didn't seem to be attacking.
Briefly I looked over to see that they were watching me, waiting to see what I was about to do.
"Why don't we Talk!" Leo shouted as loud as he could.
I didn't really plan on talking with the guy who's trying to actively kill people for whatever reason that he has. Lucien wouldn't send me after someone if they weren't some shitty people.
At least that's what I could hope. Lucien doesn't really strike me as the person who would do that. He's seemed like a pretty caring guy when it comes to the people of his city.
The bleeding stopped, you can handle them either way. Talking won't be a big deal, maybe we can learn something.
I guess you're right. I still can't guarantee that I'll keep any of them alive after the talking is done though. These guys have no good intentions since they are assassins.
With that, I made my way over to the entrance where Leo awaited me. The smug look on his face was already pissing me off but I want to hear what he has to say.
The girls also made their way over here, time for a talk. Talking gets so damn tiring after awhile though, especially when you could just handle it like we were told.
"My men won't harm you or the girls any further. Not until we talk at least, I'd like to educate you a bit before you decide anything." Leo says with the same smug look on his face.
Saying it with a face like that is really annoying, it pisses me off a lot more than I expected it to.
"Yeah, whatever." I reply with irritation in my voice.
I followed him to some sort of meeting room with a nice big table and chairs for everyone to sit at. Some paintings were scattered across the room as well, they resembled a bunch of people with these strange hoods.
Kind of ornamental for some reason, not that it matters I guess.
But it didn't take long for everyone to take a seat that needed to. Leo and a few members of his gang sat down. Akina, Ghost, and Velia all sat near me so the important people are here.
I could just barely recognize that girl from before too, Luna. She seems to be sitting over to the right of him.
"I don't think we need to keep fighting." Leo says very bluntly.
"Why wouldn't we? You guys are just a bunch of mindless killers." I respond with a serious tone, slightly confused.
"It's become clear that the deaths aren't worth it. I don't want my men to die because of my decisions any longer, I'll tell you about what we were doing." Leo responds with a more serious look across his face.
All to avoid more death? I didn't expect him to actually give a damn about the people he lost in the previous fight. Maybe he took some time to think on it when they first retreated.
"Wouldn't you want to avenge your fallen?" Akina asks curiously.
"Killing any of you would be dumb. The world needs strong people like you. As much as I hate the hunters, you don't seem all that bad." Leo answers while looking towards her.
"Because we fought against you?" I question while watching him closely.
"Not a lot of hunters give a shit about what we are doing which proved that it didn't matter. That was the case, until you guys attacked." Leo responded.
Lucien gives a damn, otherwise we wouldn't be here right now. The main goal was to head back for the towers since there's a lot more mystery to them again.
Akina doesn't even know why they are back so I want to deal with this as quickly as possible.
The towers will also help me get even stronger than before and hopefully we'll be able to prevent any unnecessary death. A lot of hunters will not be able to make the climb through the floors.
"Alright. You said something about educating me, what did you mean by that exactly?" I ask with a curious tone.
"I'll happily explain it all now." Leo answers without hesitation.
I don't really know what to expect from him since they all seemed like a bunch of mindless killers. Killing for the sake of killing but now he's all about talking and educating me.
I'm not really sure what he could possibly educate me on.
The world is full of strange people, I'd consider him part of that strange side of people. A chance to learn something is never bad though.
What could I learn from a bunch of mindless killers?
Maybe it wasn't all mindless killing. They could've been killing specific people for reasons that we don't know about. We don't know how good those people were that died or if they were true scum.
Lucien is also still quite a mysterious guy to us, he doesn't seem like the type to play all his cards in one go.
I don't really know what to think of Lucien since he hasn't given me any reasons to be against trusting him. He's been pretty good with everything since we met.
He also seems to give a damn about what happens to the people of his city and even the hunters who serve their purpose at the guild.
Would someone who cares encourage the potential death of his hunters? Sending them to the tower with such a huge risk of death?
Everything is a risk when you become a hunter for any of the guilds. Every quest has a potential chance of dying, you don't know what hides in the shadows of the world.
