Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 87: The Metamorphosis of the True God's Name

The phone rang after half an hour.

The caller could only be Sandro.

"Ethan, welcome back, it's great to know you're still alive. I've heard everything went smoothly?"

"It went very smoothly. Now our business will be unimpeded again."

"That's good. By the way, George is with me. Since everything went well, we should have a meeting. Tomorrow there's a banquet at the City Hall, let's meet there. John and the others will be there, and oh, Klei will attend too. How about it?"

"See you then."

"See you then. You've been working hard for so long, take a good rest and enjoy today."

"Thank you."

The call ended.

Ethan rubbed his chin.

Sandro is indeed an old fox.

His arrangements are impeccable.

Choosing City Hall as the meeting place is because it belongs to no one, ensuring Ethan's safety.

He also mentioned that Klei would be coming.

Klei is someone Ethan can trust, which adds to his safety.

He also said John Hott and the others would be there, meaning he still wants to talk business.

But, George is still alive...

"Go tell Virel to temporarily halt the offensive and come back for lunch."

After pondering for a while, Ethan said to Anya.

Anya received the order and left. Vincent was eating an apple nearby, even swallowing the core before he spoke: "I'll go tomorrow too."

Ethan nodded. For the time being, everything seemed normal.

But caution was still necessary.

After a while, Anya returned.

Ethan thought for a moment and said, "Is Haska still in the basement? Bring him to see me."

Five minutes later, Haska performed another heart-wrenching scene.

He hugged Ethan, wailing loudly, "Ethan, my friend, you must help me avenge. I've lost everything. Damn Old Santi and Danny, they've ruined everything..."

"Don't worry, Haska, my friend, I'll definitely help you. There's a meeting tomorrow, I'll talk about this with Sandro."

"Great! But...don't I need to go?" Haska asked, seeming puzzled, or perhaps pretending to be puzzled.

"Of course, if you want to go. But George is still alive, are you sure you want to?" Ethan asked with a smile.

"Oh...well...I'll just wait at home for your news." Haska smiled awkwardly.

"Don't worry, Haska, my friend, I understand your intentions. I'll help you fight for your family's territory."

Ethan patted him on the shoulder.

"I really don't know what to say, Ethan. You've been like a brother to me." Haska hugged Ethan again tightly.

"You're too tired, take this rare holiday to relax."

"Thank you."

Haska was sent away.

Ethan pondered deeply.

Originally, Haska was a good card he had prepared.

It was for the situation where two tigers cannot share one mountain.

But now that George was still alive, this card couldn't be played.

Still, he was useful.

For the rest of the time, Ethan started returning calls.

Though before leaving for Saint Kuanti, he had told everyone that he was going on a long trip.

But he had been gone for too long.

Starting with Winster University. Virel said Dean El had called several times while he was away.

He wanted to invite Ethan to give a lecture at the university.

Another call was from Gustav, urging Ethan to get to the university soon, with nothing much else.

Clearly, he had finished decoding all the True Names and was in urgent need of more.

There were also invitations to various banquets and events.

Unexpectedly, Sofia had called several times.

Ethan returned a call to El first.

"Thank heavens you're finally back, Ethan, that's wonderful."

"Dean El, I heard you wanted me to..."

"That's right. Actually, it's not what I want, it's the school's wish. The school wants to officially hire you as a guest lecturer in Imaginative Faction arts."

"I'm flattered by the offer..."

This was what Ethan wanted. His original goal in attending school was to elevate his status, and now going directly from student to lecturer saved him a lot of effort.

They chatted a bit about the terms, and El also invited Ethan to the university to discuss matters like the upcoming anniversary.

Ethan asked him to inform Gustav that he would visit in a couple of days.

He then gradually returned more invitation and event calls.

The last call was to Sofia.

"Ethan, where have you been these days?"

"Oh, I went on a long trip for business. Why?"

"Oh..." Sofia seemed slightly disappointed. "It's like this, Ethan. Recently something unfortunate happened in Saint Kuanti. Many people are displaced. I think we should help them. I've contacted many artists, and friends of my parents. I want to host a charity gala, and I wonder if you could attend?"

"Of course, no problem. When is it, and what do you need me to do?"

"Actually, there's nothing specific you need to do. I'd just like you to attend, that's all. I'll contact you later."

After Sofia hung up, Ethan began to think that he could actually paint a picture.

After dealing with some trivial matters that arose during his absence, Ethan finally had some time for himself.

He summoned the 'True God's Name' once again.

By now, the 'True God's Name' had changed form.

It had undergone a transformation from its deeply profound, almost dark purple hue.

It was like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis.

Its color had turned pale pink, as if a flower had bloomed from the black mud.

Its content had changed too, from 'Instigator and Protector of Violence' to 'Controller and Protector of Violence'.

This was a fundamental upgrade.

This was also the source of Ethan's ability to send Old Santi and Danny down the road to death with just a few words today.

His understanding and mastery of violence had grown deeper.

But correspondingly, the vine inscribed with the True Name of the 'King of the Beihai' had wilted.

It had continuously provided nutrients for Ethan's 'True God's Name' to be reborn, but in doing so, its colors had dulled, and even the True Name itself had grown indistinct.

It was believed it would wither soon enough.

But Ethan did not feel any pangs of regret, for it was never his to begin with.

The only thing that interested him was the True Name of the 'King of the Beihai' itself.

What exactly was the 'King of the Beihai', why was it hidden in that frozen land, and how did Saint Kuanti acquire it, leading to this chain of events?

Actually, looking back at this pollution incident in Saint Kuanti...

"Someone orchestrated this pollution," Vincent said, sipping tea as if he could guess what Ethan was thinking.
