Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 75: [Sheepskin Book]

The next moment.

The originally savage ancient being suddenly froze in place.

It seemed as if Ethan's raised palm was filled with some kind of magic power, rendering him unable to move an inch.

Then, wisps of a turquoise aura, with a deep blue undertone, rushed towards Ethan's palm like flowing water.

As those currents surged continuously, the life force of the towering ancient being quickly withered away.

In the end, even the sticky, damp liquid on his body dried up.

Then, he finally turned into a genuine ancient corpse, collapsing on the ground almost soundlessly, like a piece of dust.

He truly turned into ashes, from flesh to bones, disappearing without a trace.

A moment ago, the roaring Huoyan stood there dumbfounded, as if temporarily losing the ability to think, you could almost imagine his gaping mouth behind the mask through his robe.

Even Shadow temporarily forgot to scream, his expression was likely very entertaining.

So much so, that when the hand that attacked him struggled to climb out of the ground to attack him again, he didn't even react.

It was Anya who remained calm, turned around, and shot the ancient being.

And thus, the dust settled.

No one could have imagined, that in just one second it would flip from a life-and-death situation to this outcome.

"Godfather, just who... are you?"

Huoyan finally recovered and asked with some difficulty.

He realized he had not understood this person known by the codename Godfather at all.

Initially, he only thought this was a somewhat capable Mafia member with a decent sense of style, as only figures from the underworld could acquire such a large batch of bootleg alcohol in a short time in this era.

When the battle started, he thought this person was calm and had some wits.

But now...

Now he truly didn't know.

The ability that turned the ancient being into ashes just moments ago was completely beyond his comprehension.

Even after racking his brain for information, he couldn't find which True God's Name this power belonged to.

It was beyond his scope of understanding already.

Indeed, it was beyond his understanding.

After all, the power Ethan wielded came from—

'True God's Name'.

In fact, since he came into contact with that family member who fled back, Ethan grasped onto that snowflake only he could see, and he felt that the 'True God's Name' might be able to decipher Saint Kuanti's memetic pollution.

Later, when he entered the historical layer, he quietly tried feeling it.

While everyone hid under the daylight of the sun, he reached out his hand.

He felt something being slowly digested by the 'True God's Name'.

Then, after being attacked.

He was completely sure that his 'True God's Name' had an almost suppressive power over everything here.

With the first few ancient beings he killed, he was actually secretly absorbing their strength.

When it was the big guy's turn, he had already prepared to fully take action.

No one expected Huoyan to have another trick, but the ambush on Shadow was unforeseen.

Otherwise, Ethan would have continued to hide and observe.

Now, he was completely exposed.

It wasn't without benefits.

He fully absorbed the power from that towering ancient being.

This caused the 'True God's Name' to stir directly.

It's a sign that a new true name was about to emerge.

But it's not there yet, still lacking a little something.

Perhaps he needs to absorb one or two more ancient beings.

The atmosphere hung in a stalemate for quite a while.

Only then did Ethan speak: "I am the Godfather."

This sentence startled Huoyan, who let out a dry laugh, seemingly trying to play it off, joking, "Yeah, you are the Godfather, who else could you be."

But then, Shadow straightforwardly pulled down his hood, removed his mask, and revealed his true face: "Thank you for saving me, Godfather."

Shadow was an excessively thin man, about thirty years old, with a face so pale, whether from excessive blood loss or naturally, that he truly had a shadowy aura.

"My name is Sean Macaulay, from Butan City, thirty-one years old, by profession a night watchman, sometimes a part-time assassin, residing at..."

He began to introduce himself in incredible detail, including his home address and marital status.

This made Huoyan cough repeatedly.

"Wait, wait, what's happening here?"

"I don't want to die, I want to live." Shadow, or rather Sean Macaulay, glanced at Huoyan, seemingly advising him, "The Godfather saved us, he exposed his secret, so I too must tell him my secret..."

"Godfather, we can sign a contract, a soul contract, I assure you everything I say is true, I also assure that I won't speak of anything that happened or happens hereafter. Please don't kill me."

"I didn't say I was going to kill you." Ethan said so, but looked towards Huoyan.

"Heh heh heh, Godfather, we're friends, aren't we?" Huoyan said, seeing Ethan remain motionless, he reluctantly took off his hood and removed his mask, revealing a face well over forty, ravaged by long-term alcohol abuse.

He even had a bit of a bulbous nose.

"Hello everyone, I am Rich Gat, as you can see, I'm a drunkard, forty-two years old, my profession is inventor..."

The self-introduction ended.

And so began the signing of the soul contract.

A contract is the cornerstone of the Kingdom, and a soul contract is the ultimate guarantee.

If violated, the power of the contract would directly strangle the soul.

Ethan had previously heard Klei talk about it but had never really been in contact.

It was Rich who provided the parchment to sign the contract.

Ethan signed the contract with them in turn.

The moment the contract was signed, Ethan could feel that something was being accomplished in the unseen world.

"Alright, there's nothing more, is there? Let's continue on the road." Huoyan muttered, putting on his mask again.

But Shadow raised his hand and said, "Gentlemen, since you've decided not to kill me, please save me, I'm bleeding to death."

Ethan nodded, and Anya immediately began to administer first aid to him.

With Anya's excellent first aid skills, and the tools provided by Huoyan, Shadow's wounds were quickly treated.

Huoyan even crafted him a temporary prosthetic limb.

Ethan curiously looked at him: "Where did you pull all these things from?"

Huoyan patted a small pouch on him with some pride and said, "I told you, I'm an inventor."

With everything ready, the group prepared to set off again.

Before leaving, Ethan saw the parchment book that had fallen to the ground from before, which he felt an urge to retrieve.

This book seemed to hold great significance for him.

He walked over, picked it up, and upon opening the first page, saw a sentence:

"Saint Kuanti, the heretic, stole the Lord's glory!"
