Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 220: Mirror Corridor

Just like the Rubins family, Ethan was the focus of journalists' attention.

Ethan was even more of a focus for journalists.

Yesterday, because Ethan had just settled in the Royal Capital, many people couldn't find Ethan's new home address.

But after a day, the ever-resourceful city informants had already obtained the information through various connections.

So when Ethan was having breakfast with Sofia in the restaurant, there were already faint voices overlapping outside.

"It's the journalists; they want to interview you, young master."

Anya returned from outside at this time.

"You've turned them all down, right?"

Ethan asked while reading the newspaper.

"Yes."

Anya nodded.

Sofia, who heard this, raised her head somewhat oddly and said, "Why turn them down? They must have heard about your personal exhibit, right? Isn't it good publicity?"

This young lady really hadn't figured out the situation.

She hadn't yet gone to the Royal Capital Art Academy these past two days, so she hadn't heard about Ethan's interview.

"Always gotta keep some mystery, right?"

"Hmm, that's true."

After breakfast, Ethan had no plans for the day.

But then the phone rang, and he originally thought his teacher had read today's newspaper and was about to flip out.

It turned out to be Pupol's voice when he picked up the call.

"Hey, Ethan, I'm back in the Royal Capital. You, man, have made quite a stir recently."

Evidently, Pupol had also read the newspaper and was teasing him at that moment.

"You're not going to debate with me too, are you?"

Ethan joked.

"Nah, I don't want to be cursed at by you in the papers." Pupol teased back, then said, "It's like this—I happen to be free today. How about a meet-up? I have some new works I'd like to share with you."

"That sounds great."

Ethan did not refuse.

Pupol had saved his life once, so it wouldn't do not to go when invited.

They arranged to meet at an artist's club in the afternoon.

In the morning, Ethan had to take Sofia to school.

"Can I not go?"

Sofia looked pitiful, not wanting to go to school.

"Don't forget why you came to the Royal Capital."

It was Anya who spoke, her face expressionless.

Primarily, with Sofia at school, she wouldn't see her for the whole day.

Spare herself from getting dragged to afternoon tea and shopping all day.

"Anya... haven't we already become good sisters?"

Sofia looked betrayed and heartbroken.

Anya couldn't be bothered with her.

Everything was ready, and under the pressure of being watched by a large group of journalists, Anya swiftly left them behind with her agile driving skills and joined the spiderweb-like dense roads of the Royal Capital.

One had to admit, Anya was indeed something of an absolute genius on some level.

She learned everything quickly and remembered everything swiftly.

Like that sniper rifle, Black Rose, Anya hadn't practiced much, yet she achieved an astonishing performance during the Wenster's heavy rain event.

An ordinary person would find it tough to accomplish.

Similarly, with her familiarity with the roads, she had been in the Royal Capital only a short time, had visited the Royal Capital Art Academy once, yet had already memorized the complete road network.

This time, evading the journalists, speeding up to merge into traffic and reaching the planned route, it was done seamlessly.

Sofia in the back seat applauded excitedly.

"Miss Driver, you're amazing! Can you teach me how to drive?"

Anya: "..."

After dropping Sofia at the Kingdom Art Academy, Ethan didn't go in to see Hughes, mainly because he was a bit afraid of the old man.

For the time being, it was better not to meet.

Once Sofia reluctantly left, Ethan first took Anya out for lunch.

When it was almost one o'clock in the afternoon, he headed towards the artist club named Mirror Corridor as per the arrangement.

Mirror Corridor was a very famous painting in this world, created by the now-deceased great artist Sedmon. It's said that the original piece of this painting allowed viewers to immediately get immersed as if entering an endless mirrored world.

It was an almost legendary painting.

Unfortunately, after being bought, the painting has been in a state of collection and hasn't been exhibited, so people don't know if the original has that kind of magic power.

However, Ethan was certain that this club in front of him might indeed have some kind of magic power.

Looking at a sign seemingly made up of countless mirrors, he felt an illusion of his soul being drawn in while observing.

This place raises alarm.

"Hey, Ethan, what are you dawdling at? Come on, let's go in together."

Pupol appeared by Ethan's side at some point, greeting him cheerfully like before and moved to hug Ethan.

Ethan snapped out of his slight daze, didn't refuse his hug, put on a smile, and embraced him.

"Long time no see, Pupol. How have you been recently?"

"Great, of course. I'd be even better if I hear your praise for my new work."

Pupol was as passionate and exuberant as ever.

"Of course, I can hardly wait."

The two of them looked again at the fantastically colored club in front of them.

"So, did you feel it?"

Pupol chuckled.

"Could the original piece be hidden here?"

Ethan, as if joking, yet also seriously exploring, asked.

"What do you think?"

Pupol feigned mystery.

Then, before Ethan could speak, he spoke first.

"Haha, just kidding. How could that be? That thing is not something ordinary people can get their hands on. There are just some small illusion techniques here. Don't worry, come on, let me introduce you, instantly, to see my masterpiece."

Seeing that Ethan was apprehensive about something, Pupol directly explained.

Ethan nodded, and the two of them entered the club together.

And it was at the very moment they stepped through the entrance.

It truly felt as if stepping into a mirror, suddenly as if they left the original world.

The entire space shattered open; in that shattering moment, there was a strong sense of descent.

However, due to Ethan's strong mental fortitude, he did not experience much emotional change.

Primarily, his perception did not alert him of any danger.

When that shattering sensation disappeared, they had arrived in a completely different world.

Here, everything seemed like a mirror, with every mirror reflecting them.

"Welcome to the Mirror Corridor!"

Pupol looked at Ethan and bowed slowly.

"Does everyone who comes in experience this?"

"Of course not, otherwise how could we explain it to the Sheriff and the Kingdom Defense Bureau's officers?"

The previously solemn Pupol lost his composure in a moment, waved his hand, signaling Ethan to follow him.
