Bound sovereign: Reincarnated with the lust system

Chapter 53: SECOND LAW

Selene's lips curved faintly as she settled closer to him.

"Yes… but they've at least given some orientation to the new noble," she said, her tone light yet precise. "And the Dire has already concluded the seal. He passed the required tests, and his rank stands equal to the other Grade C nobles. He earned his place in this academy."

Eran's gaze lingered on her words for a breath longer than usual, the smirk on his face dimmed slightly.

Ragna…

He leaned back against the bedframe, his fingers tapping idly on the sheet as if in rhythm with the thoughts flashing through his mind.

Of course he'd pass. And no one would notice the mask he's wearing. That's just like him.

"How about the parchment from earlier?" he asked, his voice low, carrying an unreadable edge.

Selene glanced at him, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she settled a little straighter.

"It's been sealed," she replied softly. "The contents were sent to the Dire's council. They'll keep it under lock until the next assembly."

"But the second script hasn't been passed out to the Dire's council yet, it has to be done before MIARCH DAY. The parchment was only the first step. The second law still needs approval from the school authority itself."

Eran's brows rose faintly, but he stayed quiet, watching her.

"For that," she continued...

"the new noble, Daiven, will need to sign under the Nexus Association of the Grade C chamber. Each grade upward has its unique association. It proves their standing, their pride, their hierarchy. So yes, he signed the parchment earlier, but…"

She let out a small sigh..

"it still needs a second signature. The vice will have to confirm it before it's officially sent back to the Dire's council for full approval."

Eran let the words settle in, his expression unreadable, golden eyes fixed on her.

"So it isn't final yet," he said quietly, almost to himself.

Selene's eyes narrowed slightly, noticing the look in his expression, the one that meant his mind was already moving ahead of the conversation.

"I thought he was tested earlier today at the conference," Eran added, voice calm but edged with that quiet curiosity of his. "When the Dire intoned that the Nexus accepts him."

Selene's emarald gaze lingered on him for a moment longer, soft yet sharp, letting the faint curve her lips, Slowly, her hand brushed along his arm, light and deliberate.

"You're thinking too far again, Eran," she murmured, her lips curving faintly. "Tell me… is there something you want me to do?"

A quiet chuckle escaped Eran, low and smooth, almost a purr beneath his breath. "Maybe," he said, that smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth as he leaned back against the bedframe. "I guess I still need to learn more from my professor."

Selene let out a quiet laugh,

"You really do love teasing, Eran," she murmured, tilting her head slightly, "especially when you know how hard you ruined me in bed."

Eran's smirk deepened for the briefest moment, the memory pulling at the corner of his lips. They both let the moment hang, then laughed it off, her voice carrying that rare warmth only she gave him.

Her tone shifted as she leaned a little closer, settling the air between them.

"Earlier, when the Dire intoned his approval with the Nexus core," she said, her words slow and deliberate, "it was simply a mana test... to see if he truly belonged among the Grade C ranks. That's why it was done right then and there."

She paused, her gaze briefly lowering before meeting Eran's again.

"But Evelis is the Vice of the Association," she continued, her voice quieter now. "Until he arrives and places his signature, the parchment remains pending. Only then will it be passed to the Dire's council for final recognition. That's how the hierarchy keeps balance, every grade has its own chain of pride, its own weight."

Her words lingered as Eran leaned back against the frame of his bed, his gaze fixed on her, unreadable but sharp.

For a brief moment...

His smirk faded into something thoughtful as he leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees.

"But Evelis just left yesterday…"

Selene nodded once, calm but deliberate, her presence filling the room as always.

"We've already raised a call to him," she replied. "With MIARCH DAY drawing near, the parchment must be signed and approved before the event begins. Only then will Daiven stand recognized, not just by the Grade C chambers, but officially under the academy's hierarchy itself."

She held Eran's gaze for a moment longer, as if to weigh his silence.

"It's a matter of timing now. In three days, Evelis returns. The sooner this will be finalized. Until then, Daiven remains in limbo.

Eran tilted his head slightly, golden eyes narrowing just a fraction in thought.

"Hm," he murmured, the sound low, almost curious, as if weighing what she had just said.

Selene stood slowly, the faint swish of her robe brushing against her thighs as she moved across the room.

Her hips swayed with their natural grace, catching Eran's gaze and pulling that quiet smirk back to his face.

He leaned back lazily against the bedframe, his voice low and teasing.

"You know you're doing that on purpose."

Selene's soft chuckle escaped her as she reached for the cup of water on the stand. She took a slow sip, the sound of her swallow was quiet but clear, before turning back to face him with that calm, composed look only she carried.

"Tomorrow," she said, her voice smooth but firm, "we'll be going back to the Grade D chambers. When dawn breaks, I'll raise the announcement to all my students."

Eran's gaze lingered on her for a moment longer, then a faint smile tugged at his lips.

"Oh… I almost forgot we're still in the Grade C chambers," he said quietly, as if the thought just hit him.

His eyes flicked briefly to his wrist, where the golden banner Evelis had given them still hummed faintly... almost in answer to his words.

"I guess this little thing's been saving us from getting crushed under the mana pressure in here," he murmured with a faint chuckle.

Selene's emerald eyes softened, and the corner of her lips curved into a quiet smile as she watched him.
