Food God System: Wasteland

Chapter 98: 95 Farming_2

Chen Che merely pondered for a moment, then began using the power of the Food God to collect sweetness.

Indeed, he gathered a small cluster of sweetness.

It seems that even at the end of days, sweetness exists.

As the saying goes, no time like the present.

The feast wasn't over yet when Johnny led Chen Che to the Wildfire Gang camp, situated not far in a warehouse district.

"This warehouse district once belonged to an organization called the Scavengers, a bunch of guys who specialized in extracting organs and doing dirty work. Who knows what they extracted before—inside that thing was a small nuclear reactor, it exploded, contaminating a large piece of land behind the warehouse.

After being rebuilt, it became cheap, and nobody wanted to rent that warehouse anymore, probably because it's a bit close to that contaminated land."

Hearing this, Chen Che raised an eyebrow: "What the heck? Even nuclear reactors were extracted?"

Johnny shrugged: "Who knows what kind of stuff these lunatics have in their heads."

"There's strong radiation here, and you're still living here?"

"It's Wasteland, where doesn't have radiation? There are a lot of us, and the cost here is similar to Ant Street, plus it's in the Upper City District, with safety guarantees. Eating some radiation is better than taking a bullet."

"You guys really have the radiation courage."

Chen Che joked playfully; the people of the Wasteland, including the body he occupied, had genes resistant to radiation.

Luckily, he had crossed by soul, not by body.

If it were the body, it would have turned into a heap of sludge by now.

However, staying in high radiation areas for long, even though humans in this world have radiation-resistant genes, it will still lead to physical deterioration over time.

Probably because it's cheap, that's why Johnny rented it here.

In other parts of the Upper City District, the Wildfire Gang couldn't afford to rent.

Johnny is a competent leader.

"Renting this warehouse is very cheap, plus it's close to where we live. It can serve as a training base, with all the training measures set up. It can all be done in five days at most."

Chen Che nodded, suddenly thinking of something, and said, "You mentioned there's a piece of land behind here?"

"Yeah, the explosion center is too radioactive, building houses is impossible, so it's abandoned, and there's nearly nobody around."

Chen Che's mouth curled, and he patted Johnny on the shoulder, saying, "Quick, get someone to acquire that piece of land for me."

Johnny, baffled by Chen Che's sudden excitement: "That would be quick..."

He casually dialed a number, jabbered a bit, hung up the phone, and said to Chen Che: "Boss, how long are we renting? This place is highly radioactive, so it's cheap, annual rent is a little over ten thousand Beta."

"So cheap? Ask them if they are selling it."

Being in the Upper City District, and yet the rent is so cheap, indeed surprising for Chen Che.

Special Zone Nine does have some real estate...

Johnny wanted to say buying this place wasn't worth it, but seeing Chen Che's expression, he held back and said after a bit of communication: "It's a hundred thousand Beta for that piece of land..."

"Buy it! Bobby, make a trip to use the connections at the Special Operations Department to buy that piece of land for me." A smile formed at the corner of Chen Che's mouth.

"Master Chen, that land is highly radioactive... As far as I know, nothing goes to crap there, it's the most rundown place in the entire Ninth Special Zone Upper City... What's the use of buying it?"

Bobby knew Chen Che was wealthy, but money shouldn't be squandered like this.

"Don't worry about it, just buy it."

Alright, as the boss said so, Bobby did not persuade any further and personally made the trip.

The identity from the Special Operations Department comes in handy, as Bobby returned in a little over an hour.

He held a document in hand.

"The acquisition is registered at the Comprehensive Office; this plot now belongs to Master Chen, and is protected by the Ninth Special Administrative Region Government. But an additional annual security fee of ten thousand is required for the Upper City District to shelter you in this place."

Property fee, right? Chen Che internally scoffed; buying a piece of land for a hundred thousand and paying an annual fee of ten thousand is quite...tsk tsk tsk.

But at least the Upper City Government's property management is a hundred times better than that of typical neighborhoods.

At the very least, he now has jurisdiction over this place.

The Wasteland's land laws are even stricter than the world-renowned Lighthouse Kingdom's castle laws.

Chen Che nodded and said, "Follow me."

Chen Che, accompanied by Johnny and Bobby, passed through the warehouse and reached the wasteland behind it.

It truly is a massive piece of land.

After being there for a while, Chen Che began feeling uncomfortable, his vision becoming blurry.

Johnny said, "Boss, it's best not to stay here too long, the radiation is too intense."

Chen Che found the radiation there glaring; good grief, an ordinary person walking through here would end up worse than Oouchi Kiyoshi.

Instead of leaving, Chen Che, under the puzzled glances of Johnny and Bobby, slowly took out a glass bottle from his bosom, which contained thick white fish soup.

Johnny and Bobby looked at the bottle of thick white liquid, unsure of what it was.

Chen Che slowly opened the bottle and poured the fish soup onto the ground, letting it gradually seep in.

Chen Che looked at Bobby and asked, "Do you have any radiation measuring instruments?"

Radiation detectors are the most abundant mechanical equipment in the Wasteland, almost achieving a per capita basis.

For as long as one leaves the safe zone walls, everywhere outside in the Wasteland is radioactive; some areas are so intensely radioactive that even genetically evolved wasteland people can't withstand it.
