Food God System: Wasteland

Chapter 111: 99 All-Army Martial Combat_3

They all held weapons in their hands, and the tips of the bullets had been replaced with color-coded blanks.

"Guess what kind of a mess they'll make?"

"What else can a gang's alley skirmish look like? Too afraid to stick their heads out, firing randomly with a gun, and running once the bullets are gone," Xia Na said.

Real combat isn't like filming a movie, where you'd dare to stick your whole body out, coolly hold the gun, pull the trigger, and effectively kill the enemy.

The reality of an alley skirmish is holding the gun with one hand, extending the barrel out, and pulling the trigger, causing the entire gun to shake wildly from recoil, making bullets fly everywhere.

You're too scared to even peek outside, not knowing if you've hit anyone, just knowing you should run after emptying a magazine.

Even in the apocalypse, it's the same.

Even if humans' bodies have been purified and strengthened to an incredible degree compared to pre-apocalypse, they still feel helpless when faced with bullets roaring out of the flames.

What Xia Na described is the scene of most gang alley fights.

After all, they're just trying to get by; who would foolishly try to play the heroic grenade prince?

But after Chen Che picked up the radio and gave the start order, Xia Na clearly saw these gangsters move one by one in an orderly manner along the alley.

The ones in front were responsible for scouting ahead, while those in the back covered the rear, and whether they were at the front or back, they all trusted their backs to their companions.

Throughout the process, no one spoke; they communicated using hand signals.

It was nothing like the alley skirmish she remembered.

When the second and third lines collided, both sides decisively opened fire. After the gunfire, nobody acted as Xia Na imagined, like startled birds or beasts, aimlessly looking for cover and firing randomly.

Instead, they quickly and calmly dispersed, each finding cover and constantly peeking out, observing the other side and reporting back to their teammates.

Some were responsible for flanking, seeking to attack from behind, with others providing supporting fire, even creating crossfire to help teammates reload.

This tactic left Xia Na stunned.

How did these guys become so professional?

She hadn't even seen such a professional formation, or style of alley fighting, in the Military Department's troops.

"How is it, doesn't it look like a piece of art?"

Chen Che cracked a smile, his eyes burning with intensity.

This is what he wanted! Not useless bums! Not idiotic gangsters, but real soldiers who can fight and kill!

The gunfire kept sounding, and those eliminated, even with some reluctance, still followed the rules and dropped their weapons.

The brutal alley skirmish, although a drill, though a written exam, still revealed the harsh reality of war.

When gunfire erupted, other teams rushed in to intervene, and the whole battlefield became chaotic at once.

The continuous gunfire and chaotic battlefield also exposed the weaknesses of those below.

They started panicking again, those in the center of the battlefield began to lose their way in the chaos.

In their panic escape, they cried out in agony from bullets fired from who knows where.

Even though they were blanks, getting hit left a bruised mark on the body; not lethal, but genuinely painful.

"It's still not enough, they need more training. Only through relentless training can they become a truly strong company."

"How about it, Nana, are these still the gangsters you remember? It must have broadened your horizons, right?"

Facing Chen Che's smile, Xia Na pouted and said, "It's just an exercise. If it were a real battlefield, they'd have long lost their way."

Despite Xia Na's refusal to concede, Chen Che simply smiled faintly: "But how long have they been training? If it were a real battle between gangs, you tell me, what would happen if they faced the Lower City District gangsters?"

Even though Xia Na was annoyed with Chen Che's smug face, she had to admit, it would be a one-sided battle.

The contest finally came to an end.

The team still standing on the battlefield was unexpectedly the sixth squad led by Chana.

Chana leaned against the wall, panting heavily, with only three members of the sixth squad left standing.

The only three.

Chen Che came over to the dark-skinned girl, gave her a thumbs up, then turned to the panting crowd and declared, "Sixth Squad, Centurion Chana, first place!"

"Chana, come and receive the victor's honor with your teammates."

Chen Che clapped his hands, and Bobby immediately pushed over a cart. When the warming cover on the cart was lifted, a rich aroma spread, making the warriors of the sixth squad gulp and causing envy in the others.

Dozens of lobsters, hundreds of abalone, and other sea delicacies were piled into a small mountain.

Seafood.

In the entire Ninth Special Zone, or even the whole Wasteland, it could only be considered a delicacy for the top-tier affluent individuals to enjoy.

The ocean, being a severely polluted area from the nuclear disaster, saw a multitude of mutated creatures arise, making the threats in the sea several times scarier than those on land.

Within are enormous monsters stretching thousands of meters.

This kind of seafood is something ordinary people living in the Wasteland might never taste in their lifetimes.

And now it was laid before everyone.

"You're in first place, this seafood is yours, what are you waiting for? Enjoy it!"

"Dig in!"

Chana was the first to dash forward, eyes red with excitement, grabbing a lobster, breaking its neck, biting into the plump shrimp meat, feeling the fresh, sweet seafood juice make her whole body tremble.

This seafood was top-notch and uncontaminated, something Chen Che had exchanged for with points.

It's no exaggeration to say this batch of seafood could fetch at least a million if sold for cash.

It cost Chen Che over 100 points.

Chen Che didn't care; he wanted his subordinates to see the rewards for doing well under his command.

As for the others, he didn't shortchange them either.

Food and beer were provided in plenty!

But the seafood was a special honor belonging to the first-place winners!

The sound of gulping echoed.

The others found their meat not so enticing while savoring it.

That first-place seafood was too tempting!

"Each member of the first-place lineup, after finishing the seafood go to Bobby for a reward of ten thousand Beta! It's what you deserve!"

For those ranked lower, everyone present will wash their clothes yourselves.

Not convinced, go and surpass them in the competition next month!"

A multitude of eyes filled with determination.

Chen Che laughed contentedly, laughing wildly.

This, is his leverage!
