When Milly heard his words, a small smile appeared on her face.
This would be the best way to go against her father.
"You'd thank me, Reith. Let's go now as we are about to leave." With that, Milly turned around and left, but not without dragging Tia along with her.
Reith wanted to go, but he felt like he really needed to practice what Milly had just shown him.
It was progression.
At first, he would blare out the energy from his body and channel it into a single direction.
Later on, he had learned to streamline the force of his energy and yet still retain enough hana to be used.
Now she was telling him that he simply needed to release the hana first, and then he would be able to channel his spell without pointing toward his target.
"You can coat yourself with hana just like when you first created your hana core," Ruach's voice echoed in Reith's ears while he was contemplating his movements into the city.
"But it wasn't me who created it." Reith ran his fingers through his hair.
Just as the statement came from his mouth, an image appeared in his head. Ruach was showing him the best way to coat hana around his body. Reith watched the memory intently and it looked like the hana energy had just seeped out of the pores in his skin and nothing else.
"You can try it."
Reith nodded. He was definitely going to do just that.
He stood and faced the tree again, allowing the hana energy in his core to seep out of his body. It was something very easy to do.
This was because, before Reith had formed his hana core, he had always practiced taking in hana through his meridians, so things were not too hard for him to bring it back out.
The hana escaped from his body and thickened into what looked like a glowing body armor.
"So what next?" Reith pondered again.
With the control of his mind, some of the hana energy formed a ball in front of him.
"This is how it is, right?" Reith scratched his head. He did not know if what he was doing was right, but he followed the nudge that came with the process.
As soon as the image of the lightning whip strike appeared in his head, the ball of hana in front of him transformed and shot forward with a blast.
It curved endlessly in the air, sending shockwaves in its path. The lightning whip strike landed on the tree, causing pieces of wood to break as a hole appeared in the middle of the trunk.
If the usually stoic Milly was here, she would have gasped in surprise at the intensity and accuracy of that shot.
Maybe even given this dude a round of applause.
Reith frowned. "That was not the amount of energy I wanted to use." He grumbled.
He was about to try again when Tia instantly appeared in front of him.
She did not look pleased, and it was just because Milly had sent her to get this person.
"It's pretty mannerless for a peasant to keep a royal waiting." Tia uttered with an expressionless face.
Reith sighed. "I was just testing something. I didn't think you are this much of a chatter." He smiled.
This was actually right because anyone who had seen Tia from the start would believe she was a very quiet human.
But lately, she had been talking more often than not.
"Tch." With an eye roll, Tia vanished from the spot.
If not for the princess' order, she would not be facing such disrespect from such a nobody.
Giving a light chuckle, Reith walked out of his practicing spot and joined the group where they all gathered.
Max, Cassia, Milly, Tia, and a small group of adults stood, wondering why the princess was keeping them waiting.
It was when Reith stepped out from the forest that Milly walked to him.
"Big guts you have there for keeping me waiting. I almost rethought my offer." She said with a frown.
"I apologize. I was planning on trying another move based on what you told me." Reith awkwardly coughed.
Milly narrowed her eyes but she did not say another word and then she turned away.
"Let's go." At her command, the group walked down the hill. At the far bottom of the hill, the great city stood tall.
Matchet and Minx were told to stay behind and watch the other group.
But as Reith inched forward, there were members of the group who wondered why a stranger would follow them.
Max was not too bothered as he was more concerned about his pay and then the increase in his rank.
He would finally be an S-rank.
He had climbed his way to the top brutally and even though he had cheated, lied, and curved his way into the top spot, none of it mattered as long as no one found out.
With his charm and popularity, it would be very impossible unless some sort of unplanned force got in his way.
Reith walked leisurely down the hill with them.
He could not wait to test the skills he had just practiced.
"Walk fast, peasant. You are slowing us down." Tia instantly appeared by his side and then vanished without him knowing what had just happened.
Soon enough, they arrived at the city gate.
"Take this, Princess Millicent. We can't have people knowing that their princess was missing." Tia said as she handed a cloak to Milly.
The princess, who had no choice, merely scoffed but she wore the clothes.
"I think we should wear disguises so we can appear as refugees instead. We can't afford getting into a squabble with plunderers who think we have some exquisite goods." A man wearing a gauntlet suggested.
When the rest thought about it, they realized that it was quite reasonable.
"Why can't I just walk in?" Milly scoffed at the idea.
The old man instantly donned a troubled look. "Your Highness, you know your father hasn't fully taken over the region. We don't want people getting hold of you and using it against your father." The man said with a calm voice.
Milly rolled her eyes. "It's his fault for being a weak man."
"Princess Millicent." Tia cut her short and quickly placed the cloak around her.
Seeing the way Milly succumbed to Tia made the gauntlet man a bit green, so he frowned.
By the side, Reith merely watched.
It was easy to tell that Milly had some major daddy issues.
The group placed on their disguised and they walked through the gates.
Max was the one who handled the guards on the gate and he showed them his adventurer's card.
The thing was that the Alliance wasn't only found in the Azure Region.
It was under a very large adventurer's guild that was spread in different regions.
So it was very easy for Max to use his card to get in.
It was in the region that he would get his rewards for completing his missions and then he would bring it back to the men waiting for him.
The process took a few minutes.
Meanwhile, Reith was playing around with the tongue of fire in his palm.
This technique he was practicing was an original technique and the only thing he could do right now was to generate a small tongue of fire.
And it showed how hard it was to practice an Original technique, especially one of the main elementals.
"You can come in!" They heard Max beckon to them so every one moved forward.
The goal was to shield Milly and not let the guard get a hint of who was within the cloak.
It was a successful mission and they finally stepped into the city.
The city looked alive on the surface, but the gauntlet man's uneasy glance told another story. The flags waving on the towers weren't Milly's father's colors.
"To think a city would be this divided."This was Cassia's first time of speaking out loud during the journey.
"Yes, this quarter is under a rival noble's influence, and that makes every moment we spend here a ticking time bomb." It was not the gauntlet man who had spoken this time.
It was another one of the nobles chosen to bring back the princess.
"We can't take the main roads," the gauntlet man muttered. "At least not here."
Milly raised an eyebrow. "Then where?"
"The Arcway," he replied. His gauntlet clinked as he pointed to a stone building with faded merchant markings. "It's an old service passage. Merchants use it to move goods past checkpoints. It'll take us under the rival banners and spit us out closer to your father's ward." He explained.
"That place is disgusting and I'm sure it's way more dangerous than the streets." Milly visibly scowled.
"If the House of Vhal realise that you are here, there'd be more disgusting things to come."
