The next morning, the team of adventurers packed their loads and got ready for another move. No one said too much to the other apart from the normal greeting.
Reith had woken up far earlier and he was under a tree doing his daily pushups.
His body ached but this was part of the growth. The pain only meant that the exercises were working and his muscles were being shaped. Sweat pooled underneath him and then he heaved.
"One hundred." Reith gasped, and collapsed on the floor. He rolled to his back and slowly regulated his breathing.
After he had relaxed, Reith walked into his tent and sat in a cross-legged position. He placed the old looking book in front of him and then he began to cultivate.
He was quick to know the difference of the hana purity in the outskirts compared to the atmosphere inside the region.
That was probably why the beasts here were a lot stronger compared to the ones in the forest outside the regional capital.
Most adventurers would want to stay here and cultivate but because of the strong beasts, they were unable to.
"Time to go everyone." Max's voice reverberated around the camp. According to the coordinates of the E-map, they would arrive at the other regional border very soon.
"In less than two days, we should arrive if we don't meet anything on the way." Cassia had told Max and he nodded.
Throughout the journey, there was only one casualty and the body had been preserved for proof that the person had been killed by a beast.
The move began and it was a lot sober than when they had first started. People talked but it was mainly in whispers. Reith held on to his backpack. He was left alone and Milly was walking closer by Tia's side. This time, Matchet and an eye patch old man were guarding the back of the group.
After hours, the group picked a spot for a short stop. Cultivators didn't easily get hungry but they definitely had to pass out some waste products. That was the main reason for the break.
"Isn't it strange that there is no sign on a beast?" Some people couldn't help but discuss troubling matters.
"I think it's because of that large blue light we saw last night. If I were beast, I'd have ran away myself." The other person said with a stiff smile.
"What if the clash of two strong beast caused it? And the strongest one owned that attack. What if it won and got this place as a territory, and we are overstepping its territory." The man sounded a bit paranoid that even his friend had to chuckle.
"I think if such a beast wanted to go on such a rampage, it could have killed everyone last night or what do you think?"
"You are right but it's still strange that we haven't come across any since."
Reith overheard the discussion from where he sat, and a smile formed on his lips. What would be the reaction of those two people when they realized the truth? Then he sighed. Last night was a mistake and he had to learn to control more.
Max walked to the middle of the group. "Everyone get back. It's time we move. Hopefully we can reach the city in time if we keep at the pace. So far, a member of my team who had gone ahead of us has reported no disturbance, which is quite great as there would be no more death."
His tone was cheerful and he was easily able to kick start the deflating morale of the people. Reith looked at him in awe. That man had the right charm for leadership.
"Let's go."
The march resumed again until it became night. The adventurers gathered around campfires and told stories.
Reith had been compelled to participate by Milly and even Ruach had supported it, saying that he could learn certain experiences. One of the adventurers cleared his throat and stroked his chin. It was his turn to tell a story. Reith listened attentively and he was even tempted to jot that the story.
It was about how corruption had entered into the world because a single person wasn't able to live above their desires. The corruption had raged parts of the world and some of those bad were already deemed inhabitable by certain organizations.
"Is this true?" Reith was the one to ask the first question after the stories.
"Who knows boy? One thing is that, the corruption plague still torments some part of humanity. Dark techniques and strange potions, style and rituals are all because of the corruption plague. So at least, I can tell you the plague is real."
There was sincerity in the man's voice and Reith couldn't doubt him.
"Okay." Reith nodded in response and continued listening.
He was silent for most of the stories and when it was time to be in bed, he set out his tent and continued cultivation. By the time he was done, the campfire had gone off and most people remained in their tent.
He peeped outside and realised that it was everyone who had gone to bed.
This was his cue so Reith stood up and walked into the forest. He was going to practice again and this time, he practiced till the breaking of the dawn.
The noise of the adventurers were heard the next day and Reith packed up and moved into his tent. He sat in the same cross legged position and this time he was playing with a tongue of fire.
This was the Crimson Flame that he had been trying to learn. The original technique was complex and he had only been able to form a little flame after such time. Reith sighed as he watched the fire dance around his fingers. The blood red color of the fire was extremely beautiful and it pulsated as if it were alive.
"Time to move." Max's voice came from outside and the adventurers got up for another day's journey.
The march was productive, and it seemed like they were at the fertile part of the outskirts. Fruits were even growing around and the highly efficient adventurers were able to spot good and medicinal herbs.
It was more beneficial for Reith because his Hana sight truly enabled him to see the worth of a herb.
It was funny that most of the herbs that were stronger didn't look good-looking so it didn't attract more people.
Naturally, humans would definitely think the most beautiful herbs were the attractive ones but it was different for Reith.
His Hana sight made him draw towards the bad looking weeds today and he was super good at plucking them without destroying their value.
