"Un, this will do. Now, tie this." Finished with her dress, she passed him her anklets made of exquisite shells.
As the knight bent down to help her tie her anklets, a small smile bloomed on the Queen's face. Although she could do this by herself, she didn't know why, but having Reinhardt do it for her made her happy.
Having finished putting her anklets on her, he tactfully stepped back and stood there as her knight.
"Say, Sir Reinhardt. While you were gazing at my body, did you… accidentally noticed something?"
The Queen suddenly raised the embarrassing matter from before. She was aware that when she was in that state, the knight's gaze roamed all around her body. She did not blame him; no, instead, she asked him a peculiar question.
Reinhardt was tongue tied. What was she referring to? If he had to say, he had seen so much that the scene was carved in his memory, unable to be forgotten, and still as vivid as ever.
"I see."
Seeing the knight's clueless face, she blushed even more but also felt a little regret. Would it have been better if he had seen it? Even she did not know. All she knew was that it was the burden she must carry alone.
At that moment, there were hurried footsteps, and in the blink of an eye, knights from his order rushed to the scene. As everything that happened didn't take more than a couple of minutes, it couldn't be said that they were late.
The knights responded the moment the maids rushed to them for help. If anything, the couple of minutes delay arrived due to the maid's abnormally low physical stats and inability to sprint.
"Commander, is everything alright? We heard that the queen was in danger and rushed here as fast as we could." Marcus and Grey stepped forward.
By now, the Queen had already donned her veil, hiding that peerless appearance away.
Reinhardt nodded and explained the situation. Of course, he left out those parts that would sully her dignity and only spoke enough to give them a vague gist of what actually occurred.
After the maids climbed back to the top, they returned back to the campsite. Just to make sure nothing, not even the slightest mistake, happened this time, he walked by her side, escorting her back to the campsite.
Back at the camp, when the King heard what happened, his first reaction was to check on his wife, if she was alright or not. Then he started blaming the inability of the knights and the servants for being unable to protect her.
Especially the maids, he was extremely angry at them. They only had one job, to look after the queen, yet they cannot even do that.
The girls stood there with their heads held down and bodies shaking intensely.
At this moment, Reinhardt stepped forward and bowed his head in apology.
"Your Majesty, please direct your anger at me. If there is anyone who is at fault here, then it's not them, but me". At those words, the king, who was flaring at the maids, directed his rage towards him.
"Sir Reinhardt, aren't you a level 10 hero? The one who stands at the pinnacle of strength among knights? How could this happen with you being there?"
The man was the one who saved his wife; however, instead of thanking him first, his first words were questioning the strength and integrity of the knight. Reinhardt stood there sponging all of the anger and blame that everyone should receive equally on himself.
The third rule of the knight's code of conduct, more commonly known as the rules of steel. Serve the Kingdom- Loyal to the crown and country, even in silence, even in exile.
The code of conduct was something that every knight order drilled into their knights and future knights.
At the moment when a squire completes the trial of the gods and steps into level 6, they are dubbed by the crown as an official knight. During the ceremony, they have to recite the Rules of Steel that the first knight in history drew up.
It was not only the kingdom of Solaris, but all the other kingdoms with their knight orders use the Code of Conduct as a guide for the actions of their knights.
All the members of the Temple of Light who saw their Commander bow his glorious head did not feel shame at his action. No, they felt proud. The man they called the Commander was the very epitome of knights, a knight among knights.
They all stepped forward and bowed their heads, sharing the blame with their commander. Rules of Steel: No Excuses, Ever- A knight does not make excuses. Excuses are for those who never mattered.
"Husband, please stop. No one could be blamed for the events today. It was an unforeseeable accident. If you are still hell bent on blaming someone, then you should also blame me for going to the waterfall to bathe".
At this moment, unable to take this any longer, the Queen spoke up, defending the knight who came for her rescue.
The King, who was in a spree to take out all of his frustration, finally shut his mouth at those words. As a man who was infatuated by her beauty, he did not want to do anything that would upset her.
"If you say so, my Queen." Though he hadn't had enough, he still retired to his quarters for the day.
"I apologise for his behaviour," the latter apologised.
Although Reinhardt couldn't see her face, he knew that she was making an apologetic expression right now.
"That's alright, we are knights after all. This much is nothing".
They had faced opponents far scarier and powerful like the demons. Compared to that, the king's ranting was nothing. In fact, he was sure that many of his knights did not even understand or remember what he said.
'"Haha, Sir Reinhardt, you really are a knight among knights." The Queen laughed, her voice enchanting.
