The life of a Governor was not boring and had its own fun and thrills. However, as he expected, nothing beats going on an expedition. He is and will always be a knight first.
With their leader riding with such excitement, it naturally rubbed off on others, and soon, the entire order was marching high spiritedly.
Three days later, Capital Solaris, Royal Palace.
Reinhardt and his knight stopped in front of the palace. The former got down from his horse and after instructing his order to stand by, he and his holy knights entered the place.
Inside, the servants of the King and Queen were busy packing their stuff and things they would need for the trip. At a glance, there was so much baggage that it would not even fit in a couple of carriages.
It was no wonder there was such a large lineup of royal carriages parked and waiting outside. It was not only the King and Queen who were going, but their entourage of servants too. As such, it made sense that they would need so many carriages.
While the Temple of Light's members were on the low side when compared to the other Seven Great Knight Orders, there were still more than a hundred of them. As such, escorting these many carriages was no problem.
In fact, it gave their mission all the more meaning. Reinhardt and his holy knights stood by the side, their gait straight and unmoving.
After a while, as the packing and loading were almost complete, the King and Queen walked out. The king was dressed immaculately and exuded authority and power from the garb he wore, probably a little too much.
As for the Queen, she was the showstopper. With long wavy crimson hair that was styled in loose curls and fell behind her back, a Grecian style off white gown that elegantly wraps around her voluptuous bosom and curvy body, accentuating her figure, she was simply the definition of perfection.
Thanks to the high slit of the gown she wore, her long sun kissed skin and thighs came into view every time she walked.
If one looked carefully at her seemingly perfect legs, they would notice that she wore a beautiful carved thigh chain accessory underneath her clothes and an anklet made of seashells below. They made a calming noise every time she moved.
"My knight. My husband and I will be relying on your protection for this entire journey."
The Queen stood before Reinhardt and spoke in a voice that just melted into you. Just like usual, her face was covered by a veil. That said, her body alone held enough seductiveness to make one go crazy.
The latter bent on one knee and kissed the outstretched hand. "Please leave it to me, Your Majesty. I, Reinhardt Arcknight, swear on my Divine Paladin class that no matter what happens, I and the Temple of Light will protect your majesties and bring you back safe and sound".
He gave a knightly oath. The former was quite happy with his conduct and waltzed towards the carriage with grace and allure that hardly any woman in this world could match.
Horses neighed as the coachmen whipped them. Soon, the journey began, their destination the Kingdom of Aetherion.
As he rode with his knight order while protecting the entourage of the King and Queen, Reinhardt had no idea at that time that his actions later would create a series of storms that would shake the world to its core.
.
The place was a serene white hall decorated with golden drapes and large pedestals placed at intervals around the room to honor the statues of the seven old gods that were standing on those pedestals.
There were sanctified murals and devotees currently kneeling in front of a single being. If someone looked at the scene, they would no doubt think that this was a religious and hallowed place.
And in fact, they would be right to think so, given the ambience and atmosphere of the hall. However, if one looked at the being they were praying to, they would snap out of that belief of theirs.
After all, there was something very, very wrong and disturbing about this place. The statues of the seven old gods that should be giving off an awe inspiring and divine feeling were at this moment, dripping with blood.
All of the seven gods had their heads missing, and the believers, they too were dripping with blood from their seven orifices. Nevertheless, they did not stop praying.
The place that should be hallowed and filled with sanctity looked very disturbing at this moment. And then there was that man they were praying to.
Sitting on the broken heads of the seven old gods was a being of utmost handsomeness. He had pale white skin, a slim body with defined muscles, and white hair that highlighted the contour of his face, which was extremely handsome.
That's right, in terms of handsomeness, he would be among the top humans. Yes, that is if he were a human. The six horns on his head, decorating it like a crown, suggested that he was anything but human.
Numerous eyeballs were floating around him, and the man's own eyes were hollow. However, the most creepy thing about the man was not his hollow eye sockets or the eyeballs but the fact that his own head was not attached to his neck. Instead, the man was holding his own head in his arms.
"Hahaha" the man; no, the demon laughed, marvelling at his own artwork. That's right, this hallowed domain where the believers prayed to the seven gods was in this condition due to him.
"Master, I have sent the saints and priests back to their bases. They are ready and waiting for your command. All the preparations are ready for your descent."
At this moment, a high ranking demon general appeared in the hall using a demon exclusive skill and knelt on the ground.
"Good, very good, all the pawns are set in place. Then let's start this holy war that will destroy the Kingdom of Aetherion from the inside."
