The space, a battlefield of gods and demons, was now a swirling storm of dark energy.
Edgar had unleashed his trump card. The trillions of pores on his massive body had become gateways, vomiting forth a torrent of Demonic Miasma from the Seven Realms.
This was not his own power. It was a boon, a gift from the seven Demon Lords themselves, a concentrated, SSS-Grade poison forged from their seven fundamental laws: Discord, Gluttony, Curses, Fear, Lies, Despair, and Corrosion.
The miasma, a multi-colored fog of malice, surged forward, its sole purpose to annihilate the two clones of Sunny that stood in its path.
It was an attack designed to kill not just the body, but the soul, the mind, and the very hope of Sunny and all the others.
But Sunny's clone simply let go, a calm, almost casual, gesture.
He and his twin brother, clone number one, stood side-by-side, they both formed a wall of mana, with a tinge of faith to tackle this demonic energy.
Within the safety of the this shield, Sunny used his God's Eye, but not on the hulking Edgar, instead he was using it on the energy that was attacking on the barrier he created.
[Item Name: Demonic Miasma from the Seven Realms]
[Grade: SSS]
[Description: A boon given to Edgar by the seven Demon Lords themselves... a diluted, combined attack... made from the seven laws... Discord, Gluttony, Curses, Fear, Lies, Despair, and Corrosion. It affects anyone it touches except Edgar.]
Sunny's blood ran cold. This was the essence of his enemies. A single touch of this... it could infect his clones, his soul.
But as he read the description, the fear was replaced by a hungry thought.
He let go of the Talent Resonance talent of Mammon.
His gaze, his omniscient consciousness, shot across his territory, past the cosmic battles, past the standing Gods, and into the heart of Veridia.
He found an orc village, the last village that Light had ever visited in Veridia. He found a small hut. And inside, he found her.
She sat in a meditative posture, a young orc woman whose power was a swirling vortex of emotion.
It was Tiya, the child of the village chief, now grown into a powerful S-Grade warrior. But her strength was not in her muscles. It was in her soul.
She was tirelessly absorbing the fear, the anger, the sorrow, and the grief of the people around her, a silent guardian protecting the lifeforms of Veridia from their own inner demons.
Through this endless, selfless act, her Emotion Eater talent had already evolved to the SS-Grade.
A ethereal hand, a gentle manifestation of Sunny's will, appeared in the hut. It softly patted Tiya's head, a gesture of paternal pride.
[Congratulations, Tiya,]
Thea's voice chimed in the orc woman's mind.
[You have gained a blessing from God Cosmos. A chance to be the first lifeform to enter the Eternity Castle.]
Sunny didn't have time to explain the 'Eternity Castle' to her; his new 10,000x accelerated training ground in Veridia, which was also managed by his Timepiece artifact.
He focused his will. 'Tiya,' he thought, his God's Authority talent working without the knowledge of a single God, 'Lend me your power.'
In the void of space, as the SSS-Grade demonic miasma was about to slam into his two colossal clones, by breaking his barrier, Sunny's will descended.
He activated Tiya's Emotion Eater talent. But he did not fuel it with his own mana. Mana, an SS-Grade energy, would be useless, instantly corrupted by the SSS-Grade poison.
He fueled it with the purest energy he possessed. He fueled it with his Faith, and since the amount of miasma wasn't too much, the faith consumption was just a few trillions.
The two clones raised their hands. Their palms, which had been increased in size to block, to parry, now became something else.
They became a mouth. A vast starving mouth.
The miasma hit them.
And the clones began to feast.
They began to devour this miasma. The chaotic, terrifying energies of the seven Demon Lords, the very concepts that had destroyed the old Gods, were consumed.
Sunny's mind, now connected to the talent, was a whirlwind of sensation. He tasted the chaotic energy of Discord, the Hunger of Gluttony, the dread of Fear, and the soul-crushing weight of Despair.
He ate it all, the bodies of both the clones started swelling with this dark power.
But three of the laws, he could not eat. The Emotion Eater talent, as its name implied, could only consume emotions.
The Law of Lies, an intellectual poison; the Law of Corrosion, an acid; and the Law of Curses, a spiritual hex.
These were not emotions. They were attacks. They bypassed his Emotion Eater talent and began to assault his clones.
Their cosmic robes sizzling, their bodies crackling under the assault.
"Not good enough," Sunny snarled. He switched tactics in an instant. Emotion Eater was dismissed. A new talent was borrowed.
Thea's Convertor talent flared to life.
If he couldn't eat the remaining energy, he would convert it.
The torrent of Lies, Curses, and Corrosion slammed into his clones. And instead of harming them, it was simply... converted.
Deconstructed. Turned into an immensely profitable surge of faith points that flowed directly back into his reserves.
In a matter of seconds, the SSS-Grade miasma, Edgar's terrifying attack, a boon from the seven Demon Lords themselves, was gone.
The two clones of Sunny stood in the void, unharmed.
Edgar, his crooked smile frozen in a mask of horror. He had just witnessed a God eat the combined power of the seven Demon Lords.
And then, he noticed something else. He noticed the size of the two clones. He was no longer at their eye level.
They were taller. He, Edgar, the Legion-Born, now barely reached their shoulders.
A dawning realization hit the Gods in the stands. 'His Majesty… he hasn't grown larger, has he?'
They looked at their system panels, their own weaker versions of the God's Eye activating. They saw the truth. Sunny's clones were the same size. It was Edgar who had shrunk.
Adam, smiled. The Emperor, Sunny, smiled. As they had both known it from the beginning.
"Do you have anything else left to attack?" the two clones asked, their voices a perfect chorus that seemed to mock Edgar's very existence. "Or are you just a brute with a few borrowed tricks?"
"Don't… don't become so cocky…" Edgar stammered, his voice losing its thunderous boom.
He looked at his own, small hands. He looked at the two colossal, terrifying figures before him. "Even if I can't hit you… neither can you… you can't kill me…"
He was right. Sunny couldn't risk attacking him, couldn't risk feeding him more power.
But just as Edgar's iconic, demonic smile began to re-etch itself onto his face, a new, agonizing sound echoed from within the God's Domain.
The main soul of Sunny had just completed its third, agonizing split.
A third colossal, masked figure stepped out of the barrier. It was followed, a moment later, by a fourth.
Edgar's face fell. His blood ran cold. He was no longer facing one opponent. He was no longer facing two.
He was now surrounded, on all four sides, by four identical, colossal powerful beings, their combined aura a cage of divine authority.
He felt fear. He looked for an escape. He looked back at the tear in reality, the one that can lead him back to the safety of the demonic realm.
"Thinking about running away?" Sunny's four voices asked in perfect unison, his gaze tracking Edgar's panicked, flickering eyes.
"It's futile to fight…" Edgar's voice was a weak whisper, his arrogant, taunting tone completely gone.
"Why don't I… why don't I just return to the demonic realm? I'll never come back. You can keep this multiverse. We can pretend this never happened."
The Gods and demigods, watching from the safety of their worlds, let out a collective sigh of relief.
This was the best outcome. Their Emperor couldn't attack. The demon couldn't win. A truce was a good ending.
But Sunny just laughed. A cold yet terrifying laugh that echoed from four different points in the space.
"A truce?" his four voices echoed. "You think you have the right to offer a truce? You think you can leave?"
He had him. He had finally understood the monster's weakness. And now, the hunt could truly begin.
