"It's chilly in here," Shui said. "Where's the wind coming from?"
They had been in the cave for some time now. A few hours at the least. Yin Hu was laying on his lounging chair, enjoying the cool breeze that entered the large cavern from what had to be the opposite side of the entrance.
He could have attempted to figure it out. Or even think on it. But he outright refused to. This was his leisurely vacation before they returned back to bandit town society and the Silver Mountain Gang. Lounging and relaxing. That's it.
The girls needed to work while he comfortably waited for the Koi fish. All seven of his normal, bendy sticks were set and propped up with large stones around their base. Yin Hu had picked up a couple he had not expected to be so weightless to him.
Another note in his book of things he can accomplish. He wondered at what point could he just chuck large stones like an olympian and do actual damage to a cultivator. Would they just easily sidestep everything anyways?
He would need to test it on the Koi fish while they struggled against his strength. A living test. See how easy he could throw them out of the water when they were trying to bite his head off.
Except, the darn things wouldn't take the bait.
Swimming leisurely and acting like they were not monsters with sharp teeth that had attempted to eat him not that long ago. He remembered them clearly. Marking the one with three red lines on its side as his main target. The one that had targeted him.
Jun had been remarking how calm and collected they were. Supposedly, she took a dip in the waters when filling up the pot and kettle before Shui had shouted to heaven that a bug had approached her. Only then rushing out to see what happened.
The Koi fish had only swam around her.
Not going to save you. Imma enjoy eating all six of you damn things!
"Focus, Shui." Jun said.
Both of them were doing the Kung Fu katas. The first set in a dozen or so katas that followed each other step by step. Keeping them here for a few days at minimum. Slowly ratcheting up their meridians' capacity to handle the large load of Qi soon to be flowing through them.
He had no clue how Tai Chi was supposed to help them with their meridians. Yin Hu couldn't feel anything from them. They had been at it for about an hour or so after preparing all the necessary things needed for their little vacation.
Which included the campfire just at the entrance. Crackling with fire that made the flow of air even more obvious than before. The smoke was being pushed out of the entrance. He expected the opposite, but then felt the weird wind from inside. Not that he minded.
Better than smoking themselves out of the cavern like idiots.
On the campfire was the kettle, hanging off of a few thick branches holding up a metal rod. A very early reward. It was probably the first thing he received that was not rusty or broken. Or stinky, foul clothes he burned as soon as they arrived.
Yin Hu turned to watch the girls move in sync. Slow and deliberate katas. Just like old peoples in the park that showed up in groups to practice.
He noticed Jun's sword lying a distance away among her packed stuff. Sitting there without effect.
I still need to find Shui a weapon. Might as well do it now.

Shui had been pleading with him to find her the best friend she always dreamed of. Listing him a sequence of requirements. Of which he probably had not a single one of them. She expected small and cute. Strong and wise. Fast and powerful. Willing to play with her at all times without question.
And most importantly, she had made it very clear, it needed to be willing to join her in attempted pranks on Jun.
Yin Hu had no clue how he was going to do that. He wasn't even sure it was a good idea to give her any of the weapons in his rice bag. But fair was fair. It just needed to be safe. The thought of arming the destructive little girl with something equally destructive seemed like a terrible idea. She'd start slaughtering cultivators left and right with a flick of her wrist turning into a Heavenly Demoness.
One with a penchant for murder.
She probably wouldn't even see what was wrong with it. Being a child and all. Kind of like a kid with a gun shooting someone. They don't have the mental facilities to understand what it means to press the trigger at something.
He started his search. Unsure what attribute or element went with her Spirit potential. Or what it meant in terms of skills. So he decided to go a different path entirely than what he did for Jun. He needed to find Shui a caretaker or guardian. Something with a good feel.
The longer he searched, the worse he felt about his prospects of finding something that would fit the bill.
Massive sharp blades he could see cutting herself. Huge hammers. Glaives and halberds. A spear twice the size and length of his of DragonWrath. Even a literal dull kitchen blade had a name he could not imagine himself giving to Shui.
Who in the right mind named a blunt knife the 'Demented Butcher's Blunted Knife of Blood'.
That had been his number one choice until he read the name and full description. It was a tool some serial killer used to cut his victims up with. Supposedly killed a few thousand mortals and cultivators before the righteous sects of his time gathered together and killed him.
Yin Hu shivered. He'd need to dispose of it, he had a peculiar fear of being kidnapped, cut up, and put into black bags. Harvested for organs and body parts. Black market materials for someone else to get rich off of while he was dead after endless hours of agony.
He shivered again.
It wasn't until nearly half an hour later, sorting and filtering through the items, did he finally find something that may fit the bill. He still worried if it was any good for her. Especially considering it was a large hammer that looked larger than a mallet and twice as heavy. Long handle. Thick head that was a foot in radius.
But it was the most guardian feeling he got from it and the name was not something horrific or world and universe ending. Something simple. 'Stone's Throw - Ursine Legacy' sounded sweet and supposedly had high defensive value compared to its offensive value. Though neither were to be underestimated.
Not cut you up and murder you. Hopefully the cute little bear engrave on its head would make her happy.
He pulled it out of his spacial bag and stood up from his seat. The two girls perked up from where they were doing the katas and watched him with intent. Wondering what he was doing exactly. Why he had a massive hammer with him? And whether it involved them.
Letting it appear on the ground in front of him with the head on the ground and handle facing him.
Yep. Definitely a good vibe to this hammer. Wonder if she could even pick up something so massive.
He reached and wrapped his hands on the handle. Expecting it to be heavy. He picked it up only to stumbled backwards at its lightweight. Nearly tipping over into the river. He could see the Koi fish freeze at him touching the water with his feet. Seemingly disappointed he had not fallen in.
Yin Hu righted himself. Swinging it around like a weightless stick. Nodding to himself.
She should be able to use it without worry if it remains this light.
He waved the girls to him as he took a few more swings. They rushed to him. Wide eyes burning with curiosity. Quietly simmering underneath their skin, but unwilling to show a bad face to their master. He mentally gave them a thumbs up at their respect.
"Take this, Shui." Yin Hu put it on the ground. Afraid his physical strength might be skewing his image of how much it weighed.
She approached with a massive smile. Freezing just as she was about to touch it. "Mr. Mo Mo doesn't want to leave your side, Ancestor."
Yin Hu blinked at her.
Mr. Mo Mo? Who the hell is that?
"Tell Mr. Mo Mo that his job is to guard you, my disciple. To be weightless in your hands. Protect you from anything that dares harm you."
Shui nodded and picked up the hammer. Just as lightweight as it was in his hands as she swung it around with reckless abandon. Almost hitting Jun a few times by mistake. She turned to smash it onto a boulder—
It slammed into the rock. Shattering it and pushing through easily, cracking the very base stone they were standing on. The cave shook slightly. Dust fell from the ceiling. A couple stalactites fell and shattered on the ground around them.
Taking a few seconds for the shaking to finally stop.
Maybe I made a mistake.
