OP Character - Ancient Being Predecessor of the Primordial Era [Bk 1 Complete]

Chapter 22 - Trauma and Demons

Hu Shui was slow to get up from sleep. Fighting Jun the entire time to stop trying to get her up from the warm embrace of her blankets. Yin Hu could not blame her. He slept in similar ones for much longer than he could remember and every time was a struggle to get up from them.

It felt as though someone was pressing his head down to sleep some more.

Both of them returned, neither one walking naturally and straight. Shui kept stumbling back and forth. Jun, on the other hand, walked as stiff as a board and with the gait of a robot. Rigid and uncomfortable. Together they made for a spectacle.

Yin Hu could feel sweat trickling down his back the closer Jun got to him. He had to figure out what to say. Quickly. He did something wrong somewhere but wasn't sure what part was wrong exactly from everything that had happened so far. He knew it was in relation to her rank. The expectations she had. And finally his reaction to how much potential she carried.

Why should that matter when I can supercharge her into a nuke anyway?

He had considered doing just that for a whole bunch of people. But done wrong, it would be dangerous for him in the long run compared to other paths he could go for. His idea of wrapping twenty kids form the slums and just turning them into super cultivator exploders would be both a waste of resources and carry the potential of the kids having lesser of a bond to him and his identity.

You can say much about a cultivation world. But never questioning how dedicated they were to their sects and clans. How many entire mountains of disciples, elders, and senior brothers have been wiped off the map just to show face? How many willing throw themselves into unbeatable odds just for a chance at moving slightly up the food chain?

Yin Hu had no clue. But it sounded amazing.

Use the bonds of the clan to ensure the vast majority, if not all, remain fanatically loyal just like the original Hu clan. The girls still carried that name. Even after they had been eradicated into motes of dust and forgotten memories.

The two sisters paused in front of him. Yin Hu pulled an even weaker cushion than Jun's for Shui to sit on. It made her perk up and cleared the sleepiness from her eyes. Hu Shui looked back at Jun. Almost like she was asking for permission. Jun shrugged.

Shui jumped into her new cushion, stepping on it to get the perfect spot like a pet. Before finally settling down. Jun was quick to follow and get seated. That was when both noticed the large thick book that had been hidden by Yin Hu's robes.

Yin Hu watched them stare at it with intense gazes. He made a mental note to make sure to keep it in his spacial rice bag. Especially from Hu Shui. The thought of a kid scribbling on such a precious thing made him shiver.

Neither one saw the Spiritual-Root Purification Pill. Pure, milk white and small enough to be a M&M.

He pushed the Orb of Dao and Telling towards Shui. Explaining as little as he did with Jun expecting her to know what the older girl did just from the name. That had not been the case. Shui looked confused. Jun had to clear her throat, the tips of her ears burning red for some reason.

"W-we never. It costs too much. She was too young back then and—"

Yin Hu reached over and patted her thigh. "It's okay. We can check now. The Orb of Dao and Telling doesn't charge me anything. I promise."

This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.

Shui laughed. Almost falling off of her cushion.

Jun's face went from slightly embarrassed pink to a scorching red that covered her entire face. Yin Hu could have sworn he saw steam rising from her head. She quickly covered her face with both hands and ducking low as though she was trying to disappear.

Fuck! I messed up again! I thought it was funny! What the hell am I supposed to do here?!

Yin Hu had to figure out how to move on from this point. He scrambled mentally. Before finally resolving himself to bite the bullet. Jun needed to guide Shui anyway. He had no clue how to work the Orb of Dao and Telling worked. Nor how to get Qi moving.

"Jun." He said. Waiting for her to slowly uncurl. He made a mess of her emotions so far into their very new relationship of clan ancestor and nuke disciple. "Guide Shui."

She took a deep breath and nodded. It took a lot of whispers, with a bunch of back and forth that Yin Hu mostly ignored. Too focused on the next part of his master plan. Reading the Compendium was a simple and straightforward process.

He was beyond thankful for that. It made it simple to follow the exact instructions and details without much room for mistakes in any shape or form.

While he was busy fiddling with the book, pulling out a few more Spiritual-Root Purification Pills. Spiritual-Root Development and Nurturing Pill, Spiritual-Root Gradual Advancement Pill, and a few more of each type. Specifically for the girls based on the exact instructions of the Compendium. Both of them had very specific pages that related to their potential, age-range, and current cultivation.

There were a ton of other items he would require to make them perfect candidates for his nuke transformation process, but those were for later dates. Hopefully in the safety of his soon to be army of disciples. Body purification and all its types. Qi and core purification and strengthening. Many more he had no clue about, but was confident he had it in his spacial rice bag.

It was the positive side of being on the island for so long.

Jun finally figured out how to get the Orb of Dao and Telling to work. Shui moved her own Qi along the guided paths she had placed for her. Helping alleviate the rebounding and draining effects of the orb. It was difficult for Jun, he couldn't imagine what it would have been like for Shui.

Another instance of where he could have hurt them badly had he not been cautious. This was not a game. Not a novel readers can close their brains with and ignore clearly ridiculous and massive plot holes. It was real life. With real life consequences that would last them forever or cost an arm or leg to fix.

Yin Hu intended to follow the Compendium to the letter. Lest he set off a nuke on him and his peoples.

The orb reacted the same way as before. Showing little until Hu Shui snapped her hands back from what appeared to be a freezing cold. Trembling and huddling to herself like it was below freezing temperatures around them instead of the sunny almost humid feel to the town. It made her look small.

Spirit - Heavenly Sage Rank 9

Purity - 12%

He looked at the Compendium this time without giving a response. Flipping to the ranking of what he should expect out of disciples and what amounted to good and bad near the end of it all. He read quickly. Acting as though it had nothing to do with the swirling letters.

Average to slightly above average. It's… not perfect. But better than nothing.

It was the lowest the book would have accepted. The Compendium did not even mention anything worse than the Heavenly Sage realm. With rank 1 being the bottom. It didn't make sense to him at all considering Jun's reaction. Hadn't she expected some form of praise with her shining eyes and felt crushed when he uttered one word.

There were only two possibilities. Either Jun was so traumatized that she struggled to regulate her emotions in front of someone she could rely on. While remaining the courageous and stoic warrior in front of strangers. Or the Compendium was total bullshit and about to lead him straight into self nuking himself off the planet only a week into his journey.

Or worse yet, both of them at the same time. He already experienced this cultivation world and the clear lack of Jade Beauties and plans going to the trash quicker than he could blink. The moment he stepped onto it and faced the man eating Koi Fish all the way to this moment.

None of it had gone to plan. What would another awry plan going to the wayside going to do? Send super demonic cultivators at him? The place was already filled with them anyway, supposedly.
