Extra’s Rebirth: I Will Create A Good Ending For The Heroines

Chapter 331: Conditional Magic

Conditional magic, huh?' Azel thought as he leaned back in his chair while Mynes stood before the board.

It was something he'd used often back in the game… back when Reinhardt was still the main character.

The mechanic had been simple: trigger a spell when a specific condition was met.

"If health drops below 30%, activate Holy Barrier," or "If enemy casts spell, counter with Null Field."

It was logic-based combat, and it worked a lot, well except in the final battle.

But, he knew it well enough to call it an old friend.

'Well… time for me to spam it once more,' he thought with a wry smile.

Mynes tapped her cane against the floor.

"Now, this might be your first time hearing about Cond—"

"No," Sylvia interrupted softly.

"I apologize for my interruption, Professor," she continued, perfectly composed. "But I wished to express my own understanding of the subject, should it be acceptable."

Mynes blinked, her painted lips twitching into a stiff smile.

"Yes," she said after a short pause and nodded. "Of course, Sylvia. Please do."

Internally, though, the professor was already sweating.

'Why did this girl have to come to this class now?' she thought miserably.

Normally, when it was just Azel in the classroom, she could afford to slack off… half teach, half tease, and make him do all the rune work while she "supervised."

But now? Now there was a royal in the room.

The future Elf Queen herself.

If she made one lazy mistake here, the Academy Board would have her scrubbing cauldrons regardless of the fact that she was the daughter of a Grand Mage.

Hell, her mother would even do worse.

Sylvia turned her gaze to Azel.

"What about you, Mister Azel?" she asked in her usual formal tone. "Would you be amenable to me elaborating my understanding?"

He shrugged. "Sure."

"Thank you." She bowed her head slightly and straightened her notebook.

"From what I know, Conditional Magic is the art of binding a clause unto a spell, thereby transforming it from a mere act of will into an act of reasoning."

"In ordinary spellcasting, one channels mana and releases it immediately toward an intended outcome. Conditional Magic, however, does not act at once. It waits until the designated requirement is fulfilled. The spell, in essence, remains dormant until its logical condition is met."

Mynes clapped her hands lightly. "Yes! That's true, Sylvia. Very true."

Sylvia smiled politely.

"Conditional magic waits for a specific requirement before being triggered," Mynes continued, pacing lightly in front of the board. "There are several ways to use it… there's even an enchantment variant of it too."

'It was that enchantment I used in the game,' Azel thought, rubbing his chin.

Though… having the rune version would be useful.

"But," Mynes continued, tapping her cane against the board, "what we're focusing on today isn't the enchantment version. It's this… the Rune of Logic."

The Rune of Logic was shaped like a diamond at its center, with four thin arrows extending from each corner… north, south, east, and west.

Between the arrows were small curved lines connecting them in a smooth, circuit-like pattern, forming a closed, deliberate shape.

A straight line ran from top to bottom through the middle, dividing it perfectly.

Azel stared at it.

'Okay… that looks cool.'

"With the Rune of Logic," Mynes said, turning back to them, "I can issue conditions to a spell. But—" she raised a finger, "—keep in mind that this rune cannot act on its own. There must always be another rune or spell attached to it."

"Hm?" Sylvia tilted her head slightly, curious.

"I'll demonstrate," Mynes said.

Her cane tapped the ground once more, and a glowing rune appeared in her hand.

It was circular, and had several diamonds in it…

"This," she said, holding it up, "is a basic barrier rune. Now…"

She let the cane drop to the floor with a clatter and raised her other hand.

Another rune formed there… this one matching the shape of the Rune of Logic.

It hovered gently over her palm.

Then she pressed the two together.

The runes merged in a burst of light, the symbols fusing into a single form.

The Rune of Logic vanished into the barrier rune, leaving behind the Barrier rune that was now glowing even more than before .

"Now that the Rune of Logic has merged, we can issue a command," Mynes explained. "And to issue a command to a rune, you must start with the word 'Command.'"

She took a deep breath and said.

"Command: If I am attacked, regardless of whether it's a weapon or magic, activate barrier."

The rune in her hand flared once, then disappeared completely.

The room was silent.

Mynes turned to the two students with a smile. "If you will…"

Before anyone could process what she meant, Azel flicked his wrist… fast.

A silver bone dagger shot forward, spinning through the air with precise speed, aimed straight for her head.

Sylvia's eyes widened slightly.

'What incredible throwing strength…' she thought.

He hadn't even channeled aura or magic into that throw… that was just a flick of his hand.

But just as the blade neared, the air glowed.

A translucent barrier materialized out of thin air, stopping the dagger mid-flight.

It clanged harmlessly to the floor and then back into Azel's hand.

Mynes smirked, lowering her hand. "And that," she said, "is the power of Conditional Magic. You can prepare it before battles, just to be safe. Anything can happen in a fight, after all."

She turned back toward the board, tapping it lightly. "Now then, you two will use the ru—"

Before she could finish, a sharp bell rang throughout the building.

The door to the classroom clicked open on its own as if the Academy itself had decided the lesson was over.

"Oh," Mynes sighed, tapping her cane against the floor once more. "It seems my time is up."

She looked back at them with a weary but good-natured smile.

"Well, we can continue this another time. You've both done well today."

Azel stood from his seat, stretching his arms and then he glanced at his wristwatch's black screen.

Then the text appeared.

[Important]

[New Compulsory Class has been added to the curriculum]

[Field Training]

'Oh… this class,' he thought with a sigh.

It was the same sequence of events from before… it was a class that was introduced after the Clone Wars for student defense.

'So it's starting, huh? Field training it is then.'

He adjusted his tie before heading for the door.

"You may go ahead, Mister Azel," Sylvia said, standing politely by her desk. "I shall remain for a time and receive the professor's additional guidance."

Azel nodded. "Got it."

'Not that I was waiting for you in the first place…'
