DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG... DONG...
Twelve chimes echo from the grand clock tower of John Hawkley's estate, marking midnight — the exact moment of Melania's thirteenth birthday.
«So? No one's wishing me a happy birthday? You know, turning thirteen is a big deal for a succubus,» Melania grumbles, still curled up on the lap of the mysterious Raelos, her hand tucked inside his pants. She's clearly having fun teasing the man — a peculiar kind of stress relief.
But no one pays her any attention. Everyone's eyes are fixed on the black, cloud-covered sky. Honestly, I don't even know why I'm staring up too, but since Raelos, John, and his two lackeys — Frank and Olivia — are all doing it, I just follow along. I guess Melania's father must be coming from the sky.
And then, after only a few seconds... FLASH! A blinding violet light bursts above our heads.
«Here we go,» John mutters with a sly grin, as Raelos stands up, completely unconcerned that Melania is still on top of him, sending her rolling onto the grass.
«What the hell?! Are you out of your mind?! Is that how you treat someone right after they jerked you off? You're unbelievably ungrateful!» Melania snaps — her right hand, the one she'd had inside Raelos's pants, is completely dripping with cum. Then she brings her fingers to her mouth, licking them one by one like a cat grooming its paw. «You'd better make it up to me later, or I'll stay mad at you forever!»
Yet again, nobody pays her the slightest attention.
Damn, that girl really has no shame...
When the violet flash fades, I lift my eyes back to the sky... and I see him. An incubus — the male counterpart of a succubus. By the look of him, he's probably in his forties — maybe a little older, standing at least two meters tall, with long chestnut hair falling softly over his shoulders. He's shrouded in a swirling violet aura, with massive black wings spreading from his back. He hovers motionless above us, arms crossed, his cold, expressionless gaze fixed on Melania.
«Melania,» he begins in a deep, commanding voice. «I am your father. My name is Malthus Narkhalis, and I am here to claim you and take you with me to N'Raeth.»
«Oh, really? Interesting,» Melania murmurs with shameless delight, still licking her fingers one by one.
Strange — just yesterday she seemed so excited about finally meeting her father and leaving behind this world she found so boring. What the hell did John say to her to make her change her mind so suddenly?
«You're pretty hot, you know?» she continues, looking up at him. «I'm not surprised you managed to knock up that frigid bitch who calls herself my mother. But Raelos is hotter than you, so you're out of luck. You came all this way for nothing — what a pity, huh? Anyway, I have no intention of going with you, so... bye.»
Malthus is stunned by her words. It's not just anger at being rejected — there's something else there, something like fear. His expression clearly changes the moment Melania mentions Raelos's name.
His gaze shifts toward Raelos, standing beside her.
«R-Raelos Garroza...» Malthus stammers, his voice trembling. «Y-You treacherous bastard, how dare you meddle in matters between me and my daughter?!»
Traitor? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Wait... so Raelos and Melania's father know each other? Wow, small world... Hold on — if those two know each other, then it probably means Raelos is...
An intense wave of violet energy bursts from Raelos's body, crackling with electric surges that race through him from head to toe. Not only that — enormous purple wings, identical to Malthus's, unfurl from his back.
Just as I thought... Raelos is an incubus too! And judging by Malthus's frightened reaction, he must be incredibly powerful. Now I understand why he dared to speak so boldly to John Hawkley without getting so much as a glare in return.
«The power you radiate is terrifying...» Malthus growls through clenched teeth. «Just one look is enough to see you've become far stronger than when you served as Princess Eliss Narkhalis's bodyguard. With that power, you could have gone down in history as a glorious incubus — your deeds remembered for millennia... and yet you chose to betray your people, to turn your back on the royal Narkhalis family, to abandon the proud kingdom of Ravessia, and to join that mad cult bent on destroying both this world and ours! I once admired you, Raelos... but now I can only despise what you've become!»
«He's talking too much, and his voice is starting to give me a headache,» Melania grumbles irritably. «Raelos, shut him up for good. Come on, get moving,» she orders — but Raelos doesn't move an inch, doesn't even look at her.
«I was only asked to come here to assess your daughter's abilities as a succubus and to prevent you from taking her away,» Raelos says in a calm, unflinching tone. «Killing you isn't part of the deal, so I have no intention of doing it — staining my hands with an insect like you would be a waste of energy. Leave now, and I'll pretend your pathetic words never reached my ears.»
«You can't seriously expect me to do that...» Malthus replies, his fists clenched in anger — the violet aura around him growing denser and more violent. «You're stopping me from claiming my daughter — a sacred right of any incubus that no one should ever interfere with! And as if that weren't enough, your hands are drenched in the blood of Princess Vanya Narkhalis — Eliss's elder sister. As a member of the Narkhalis family, it is my duty to make you pay for what you've done!»
Then Malthus raises his hand toward Raelos, and a sphere of energy begins to gather in his palm. «This is for all the innocent lives you've taken, filthy traitor!»
A devastating beam of energy erupts from Malthus's hand, hurtling toward Raelos with explosive speed and raw force. The shockwave knocks me, Melania, and John Hawkley's two lackeys off our feet.
Shit... what now? Is this lunatic about to blow the whole place sky-high?!
«Is that all the strength born from the Narkhalis' resentment?» Raelos sneers. Then, a surge of electricity bursts from his body, spreading outward at lightning speed and effortlessly nullifying Malthus's devastating assault.
Malthus freezes in midair, trembling, stunned.
«Now it's my turn,» Raelos murmurs. He spreads his demonic wings to their full span, and... the membranes begin to ripple, almost bubbling like molten glass. Then something insane happens. Tendrils made of the same substance as the membranes erupt from the wings, lashing toward Malthus so fast that the incubus finds himself entangled before he even realizes it.
Malthus struggles to break free, channeling tremendous bursts of energy through his arms, but it's useless. The grip doesn't loosen even a fraction.
«You've made two mistakes, Malthus Narkhalis,» Raelos says, locking eyes with his opponent as the crackling energy coursing through his body grows fiercer. «The first — not fleeing the moment you saw me. The second — daring to challenge someone infinitely more powerful than yourself. They say you learn from your mistakes... but unfortunately, you won't get that chance. Farewell.»
Electric arcs race up the tendrils, from Raelos's body into Malthus's. A bone-shattering, bloodcurdling scream rips from the succubus's father's throat — but it lasts only seconds before the tendrils retract and the charred, smoking corpse slams into the ground with a dull thud.
