Chapter 608: Invited
His hand twitched at first, and then he began to walk forward.
Not even a few seconds later, Kareth did the same, walking ahead.
Rael zoomed in a little and noticed their eyes were slightly blurry. Only Lucien was a bit more aware of what was happening than Kareth.
It took them nearly three minutes to get to this point.
And if a single second was 31,688 years for them, then…
5,703,840 years just to start walking.
Damn.
[There are a few more options that should load in a bit. I still didn’t get to configure it properly. Sorry,] Gaia mumbled.
You’ve been apologizing quite a lot lately. You know you don’t have to, so what’s up? Something on your mind?
After a brief pause, she replied, [You should leave this place and let your Halls of Infinity do the rest. Run away now.]
He listened to her, then chuckled.
Yeah. I was planning on doing that as well.
At first, he came into this trial expecting to see something else. Maybe someone important dead. Maybe someone dangerous…
Instead, he got into an orgy where he was powerless to do anything against them.
And if he were to stay, that dead person he saw in the Prophetic Realm would be him.
How long can it hold them? Rael asked.
[Honestly… if I account for all the stages I made and how fast they got out of the first one. Maybe another 15 minutes?] she replied.
And that was good enough.
With that in mind, Rael closed his eyes and drifted out of the Halls of Infinity.
When he came back to reality, he spotted Lucien standing right in front of him, still gripping his heart.
Kareth wasn’t too far away either.
Rael just stared at them for a few seconds and pondered over something.
I take it that this won’t be as easy as it looks?
[No… any outer stimuli is going to snap them out of it,] she warned.
Nodding in understanding, Rael turned to something else.
It didn’t hurt to give something he hadn’t tried in a while a shot after all.
<Premium Override activated!>
<Would you like to cancel the opponent’s skill? Cost: 525 Premium Coins>
<Would you like to steal the opponent’s skill [Fire Manipulation (Common)]? Cost: 225,294 Premium Coins>
Fire Manipulation for 225 trillion Trell?
That seemed a little fishy.
Gaia, is he hiding the name of the skill? Rael asked. Is that even possible?
[It is, but he’s not hiding anything. I can assure you of that. I’m pretty sure he learned how to increase the prices after the last time you stole a skill from him,] Gaia said.
That made a lot of sense.
And so he took this as his chance to get out of here.
For starters, he glanced into the Premium Shop and bought himself a random teleporter.
Literally.

The moment he bought it, a piece of paper appeared in his palm. It had a few runes scribbled on it.
According to the description, all he had to do was rip it and he would teleport elsewhere.
But even if he slightly expected it, upon ripping the piece of paper, nothing happened.
A little bit of mana fizzled out, and that was about it.
Though he wasn’t discouraged just yet.
Rael immediately moved to another attempt, and that was to enter the portal to the Depths.
<Would you like to enter the Depths? Yes / No>
He immediately pressed “Yes,” and yet he was met with another hurdle.
<Your location has been locked.>
<Teleportation is impossible.>
Seeing that, Rael felt like he was only left with so few choices.
How could he run away? The Premium Shop definitely wouldn’t be able to get him out of here.
Still, Rael tried buying a few more services.
Something as simple as a ride-along, all the way to cracking the space around him and teleporting him out of here somehow.
But each time he was met with a reality check. It wouldn’t work.
Rael clicked his tongue and glanced at Lucien.
Even if he were to buy every buff imaginable and increase his stats by as much as he could, Rael wouldn’t be able to instantly kill him.
After all, he may be strong for his Grade, but at most, his power was that of a Grade 6.
Lucien was way beyond that, likely at the upper levels of Grade 8, if not Grade 9.
That power-up doesn’t make sense… was he hiding it all this time, or is he…
Rael trailed off, suddenly spotting something.
He could see mana very well because of his Dragon Heart. He just never really needed to.
Now that he was looking at Lucien’s chest, he realized his mana was scrambled.
His heart was barely beating, and if he didn’t know any better, he would think this was the aftereffect of the Halls of Infinity.
But Kareth was perfectly fine. Only slightly pale and in distress.
Rael quickly wracked his brain around the whole scenario, realizing that he only had so little time left.
And yet, it didn’t take him long at all to figure out what the motive was behind Lucien bringing him here.
A broken body.
Possibly an avatar.
A sudden power-up… and the feeble attempt at fighting Kareth.
Did he bring me here to steal my body?
Lucien mentioned Rael’s soul so many times, he had almost overlooked it.
But now it was all starting to make sense.
He just didn’t know one thing, and that was what bugged him the most.
What was Kareth’s role in all of this?
If I am someone whose body Lucien wants to take over, then what’s the point of Kareth?
Maybe Lucien was targeting Kareth in some way too, just how…?
A sharp pain suddenly shot through Rael’s forehead, making him recoil a few steps.
At first he thought it might be the aftereffect of the Mind Realm, but instead, it was the Prophetic Realm.
For the first time in a while, it felt like that realm was calling out to him.
And it didn’t take long for him to realize why.
