Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 587: Nearly a Mistake

Chapter 587: Nearly a Mistake

Several hours had passed, and Rael was still staring at the pop-up, uncertain of which option to pick.

Neither of them was good, but there was a very clear problem that might arise if he turned back time.

If the higher beings were alerted to what he was doing, they would likely pay more attention to him. Whether or not that attention was what he needed… he wasn’t sure.

On the flip side, Melissa wouldn’t be discovered.

Now if I don’t turn back time and continue on… If Melissa dies and I turn back time after 48 hours, then I’ll be in the same place again.

In the end, no matter what he picked, there were downsides, but he knew he had to pick something.

And that something, as much as he hated the feeling of being outplayed, had to be turning back time.

After all, while he used to be a piece of shit, he wasn’t one now, so he couldn’t take this chance and let his sister die.

Rael stared at it for a few short moments, and as his finger hovered over “Yes,” he suddenly felt a headache that sent him tumbling back down to the ground.

For only a brief second, he wasn’t able to control his body, and in turn, he couldn’t press the button to turn back time.

However, with his body frozen, he still managed to spot the space in front of him cracking, and then, through that crack, a single figure stepped out.

He recognized the figure immediately, as, after all, it was none other than his sister, Melissa.

She seemed unscathed at a glance, but her entire body and clothes were covered in blood. It was an ominous sight, but from her nonchalant expression, he could tell he had nothing to worry about.

“You know, you seem pretty pathetic right now,” Melissa remarked, crouching down beside him. The blood from her hair dripped onto his face, causing his expression to sour.

“I was worried.”

Melissa rolled her eyes.

“Drop the nice act already. We’re far too old to be worrying about each other,” she said. “You mentioned the shattering earlier, so I thought you remembered everything. Turns out you’ve only been given a rough idea of what happened. Also means your memories are not back.”

Before he could reply, she added, “Do you still have that tutorial system? Ah, you must’ve also not reunited with your guardian. Jeez… How have you gotten entangled this far with nothing to show for it?”

Tutorial system? And the guardian… Right, I need to find my guardian if I want to understand more about the system. Though, she also mentioned memories…? Is she saying I could remember what happened before the shattering?

He was also surprised she brought those topics up in the first place.

“It’s not even been half a year since I arrived in this universe,” Rael replied calmly. “I’m a decent fighter, and I’m utilizing what I’ve been given pretty damn well. It’s just that no matter what I do, Lucien seems to be a few steps ahead of me.”

“Mmm… I’m not really your psychologist,” Melissa said. “It’s for you to figure out. I’m only here because I didn’t want you to make a big mistake.”

She surprisingly pointed at the pop-up hovering in front of him, then pointed at his forehead.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve had this conversation. I’m sure you can’t feel it yet, but I can. Solenne can as well. That’s why the future you’re seeing is so distorted. That’s also why she’s trying to get you to turn back time since she wants to eliminate all the sources that could be responsible for such a disturbance.”

He understood what she was telling him, but even so, now that he was up close to her, he couldn’t help but feel slightly emotional.

This here was his actual sister, just if he went by the current timeline, she was likely from eons ago. He couldn’t remember the past, but she definitely could. And that’s why it was all the more unbearable.

But as if sensing Rael’s emotions, Melissa backed off, turning her back to him.

“Solenne is injured now. It’s not a serious injury since she fled, but it’s enough to keep her away for at least the next couple of trials. But that also means the future you’re seeing is disrupted not by her, but by someone else.”

Is it Lucien? Hmm… Why do I feel like there’s someone else behind this? Rael wondered, trying to piece together the puzzle.

So far, he knew Lucien was using him to get him to contact his sister. He did that, and so Solenne attacked.

Now, if what Melissa was telling him was the truth, then she managed to not only fight off Solenne but also slightly injure her.

However… if that was really the case, then that would make Solenne a literal pawn in a much grander plan.

So when he came to the realization that he was going to be dealing with a being who treated even Solenne as a pawn, he was truly speechless.

“Your guardian is at the edge of time,” Melissa said out of nowhere. “It should be a location that exists between the Void Realm and all the other realms. It’s a place that even I have no clue how to access.”

“Edge of time…?” Rael tilted his head. “That really doesn’t help.”

Melissa’s brow twitched. “It’s also known as the Far Lands. From what I can see in your mana, you’ve already laid your eyes on that place… Hmm…”

Almost like she was reading his mind, she added, “So the Depths are the gateway to the edge of time. I might have to go on vacation soon.”

Not saying anything further, she began to slowly walk away. He still couldn’t move his body, but he realized that if he let her leave now, he would likely never see her again.

And so, using every bit of DTP inside his body, Rael suddenly propped himself up to his feet, causing Melissa to slightly slow her steps.

Slowly opening his mouth, a weak voice escaped his lips.

“I… we need to talk.”
