Capítulo 513: His Role
“I do,” Theo replied plainly. “You killed the one I loved, and not only that, you also killed me.”
“Doesn’t sound like you hate me for it, though.” Rael whistled. “Is it the Eternal Marionette skill’s doing?”
“The skill only makes me think favorably of you… The reason why I don’t bear you any hate is something entirely… Given how much freedom you’ve given me, I wish to not share it,” Theo stated.
Rael tried reading his mind, but upon failing, he decided to commend him.
“At least you learned from your mistakes. Anyhow… I trust you’re not going to stab me in the back.”
The corners of Theo’s lips rose slightly. “I won’t make any promises.”
“Of course not…” Rael sighed. “Doesn’t matter, though. Knowing I can kill you with a single snap of my finger is enough reassurance. However, I do have a task for you now.”
It was the same task that he had left behind in an envelope inside Melina’s room, alongside a very expensive potion.
“Make sure this continent doesn’t need you to be here to function. After that, you and Melina Lisea… Or I guess, Malinali Liesa, will move on to other continents to conquer them and transfer them under my name…”
Rael smiled. “I realized that there were more than 11 continents. In fact, there are probably thousands, and each one houses large countries.”
It was an untapped gold mine, basically.
“Casualties are unavoidable, but try your best at peaceful negotiations. Also… If a succession ceremony does happen like the one earlier, which it might, call me. I will arrive there and talk it out. Don’t shy away from conquering everything.”
Rael turned around and gestured toward the Death Knights, a faint smile on his face.
“Make sure to use them well. They can talk and they can feel. They’re not lifeless, but I’ve created them for killing. From now on, they are your army and your friends. Do you understand me?”
Theo nodded. “I see… You’re more ambitious than your memories gave you credit for.”
“Is it wrong to be ambitious?” Rael chuckled. “If I had so much power and didn’t use it with such a massive opportunity ahead, then I would just be an idiot.”
“Fair point,” Theo replied. “Though I do have some concerns… Aurenthia can at most fit 25,000 soldiers, so how am I supposed to fit all of them with such a limited capacity?”
“Figure something out.” Rael shrugged. “You have the resources of three kingdoms, so just make one massive combined barrack for all the soldiers. Or just separate them into hundreds of camps. I’m pretty sure you can think of something, and if not, wait for Malinali to come back. She’s pretty good with army management stuff.”
“I understand… And do I assume I have permission to contact you whenever I want to?” Theo asked.
Rael shook his head. “Only when it’s an emergency. So, like an unstoppable event, untreatable illness, or a war you can’t win. You get the gist, right?”
“Indeed…” Theo turned toward one of the Death Knights. “William, can you pass along an order to those close to you, and tell them to pass it along to others as well…”
Clearing his throat, he spoke:
“Kill every remaining Hollow Throne candidate. And, most importantly, if you see Lucien, the son of the Hollow King, kill him on sight. Don’t try to capture him under any circumstances, as he will just inflict more harm on us.”
Oh? I was going to do that too. He beat me to it.
The Death Knight bowed slightly and went ahead to pass the message along to everyone else.
As for Theo, he met Rael’s gaze once more. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ N()velFire.net
“Could I ask you for a favor?”
“You’ve been alive for only a few hours and you already want something from me?” Rael raised a brow.
Ignoring Rael’s snarky comment, Theo’s expression turned resolute. “When I get stronger, I want you to fight me. I’ve still got a grudge to settle, and I believe that at the very least, I will cut off your limb.”
Rael smirked. “If you’re so confident, how can I refuse? Sure. When the time comes, you can call me through your mind. As for what else you can do? I’m pretty sure I’ve got everything down.”
Indeed, he had gotten the main message across as well as the main reason why he even created Theo in the first place.
This is going to give me a lot more money soon… Then I’ll have to focus on…
“Hold on, I did forget something,” Rael grumbled, when all of a sudden, thousands of signs poured out of his inventory.
They were free to make, as all he needed to do was think about them.
And those signs were none other than the Infinite Shelf Landmarks.
“Take these with you. Hold on…” Rael pressed on them, and in the next instant, the thousands of signs stacked into one sign.
“Whenever this runs out, treat it as an emergency. Call me immediately. Got it?”
Theo sighed, accepting the now-single sign.
Now, everything was definitely done, and because of that, Rael finally took a step back, but not before catching a glimpse of something inside Theo’s mind.
[It feels as if my emotions are muted…]
[Victoria’s still alive… Thank god…]
“…?” Rael turned to Chop-E. “I feel like you have some explaining to do.”
Chop-E remained calm. “I fulfilled your order, but that doesn’t mean I followed it blindly… Victoria was with a child.”
Rael’s eyes widened, then settled down. He definitely did not foresee this in the slightest.
“So what happened?”
“I took her to the royal cathedral, and I forced the guards to watch over her and not let her out until Theo comes back,” Chop-E replied.
“Hmm… I see, that’s fine then,” Rael said. “He’s alive now, and when he comes back safe and sound to his kingdom, even if she were to spread the rumor, people would think it’s bullshit. I don’t blame you for your decision, Chop-E. If anything, I like that you have a mind of your own.”
Chop-E bowed slightly, not saying another word.
Though… She’s bound to become suspicious when she realizes that despite her lover being somewhat the same, he’s completely different. Though that’s for the two of them to sort out… I’ve already played my part.
He would wait for a couple more hours in case Vatyra showed up, but if she didn’t, he would finally leave the Depths.
