Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 504 - Capítulo 504: Chess Board

Capítulo 504: Chess Board

“So that was when—”

“That’s enough, Lucien, I understand.” Rael cut him off without hesitation. “We’ve all had our fair share of hardship. Even I didn’t get along that well with my parents. Can’t say they’ve ever locked me up though.”

“Right?” Lucien chuckled. “It’s honestly terrible what great power might do to a man. Frankly, I wish I had a little bit more power myself so I could stand up against Kareth.”

It was a little bit interesting how big of a chatterbox this guy was. But alas, Rael wasn’t too keen on having a conversation with this guy, especially knowing how shitty of a person he truly was.

But having no other choice, Rael simply listened and nodded, hearing out Lucien patiently.

And eventually, when he fell silent, Rael took this as his cue to leave.

“Well… I’ll get going now. I don’t really care what you do here. I won’t take you to my world though. That’s something you’ll have to figure out how to do by yourself.”

Lucien’s smile remained. “That’s fine. This chat gave me some insight, and I believe going to the real universe is something that’ll have to wait.”

Rael nodded slowly. “Take care. Oh, and one more thing…”

In one of the many outcomes Rael had seen, there were a couple where Lucien had sought out Kareth of his own volition. He didn’t do it to harm Kareth. In fact, he played the mask of a naive son who wanted to reunite with his father.

And because of that, Rael saw his succession ceremony being canceled. Rather, it was postponed, but Rael couldn’t see past a week into the future. However, he was sure that Lucien would gain his father’s favor and ruin Rael’s succession.

It’s either he does it right after I leave, or literally during the succession ceremony. I need to recover my Dragon Force and alter the probability of him doing that. That’ll take a while though.

Despite that…

“A crown wouldn’t look very imposing atop your head.”

Lucien’s brows twitched, noticing that Rael had caught onto his ploy and all his other ploys.

However, after calming himself down, he smiled, then spoke:

“I can never know when this barrier will give in and set me free. I also can’t estimate when I will just be spewed out of this realm. It’s all up to chance.” Lucien met his gaze. For some reason, he had slowed down on the very last word, which led Rael to believe that Lucien knew what he had just done.

This guy… Rael sighed inwardly. I really need to get rid of him fast.

“I won’t take up any more of your time,” Lucien said out of nowhere. “Though I have a suspicion we might meet each other again very, very soon.”

“I’m sure we will, maybe even faster than you might expect,” Rael replied with a faint smile.

With that, he left the jail cell and stood right outside it.

Vatyra stepped closer, an impatient look on her face.

“Are you done? Can we go now?” she asked.

“Not sure…” Rael whistled, a mischievous look appearing on his face.

When he had been looking through the probabilities, he also had an idea. It was something he had pretty much overlooked, and now that he was at such a distance, he felt now was as good a time as ever to use it.

“Vatyra, could you turn around for a second? There’s something I want to show to Lucien.” Latest content published on novᴇlfire.net

“Oho…” Vatyra grinned, turning around. “How scandalous…”

Rael rolled his eyes at her behavior and glanced at Lucien who stared back at him.

“Forget something?” Lucien mused, rising from the ground and approaching the cell’s opening. However, right as he was about to step out, he stopped. “Don’t tell me there’s something more you wish to do to me? Isn’t messing with my fate enough?”

Despite the clear provocation, Rael didn’t budge. Instead…

A Power Gesture? Rael tilted his head. No clue what that is, but oh well… Yoink.

Rael put aside inspecting the skill for later as he flashed a slight smile.

In the meantime, Lucien stared at him, completely unfazed.

“Skill stealing, I see…” Lucien whispered, walking back to the corner of his cell and sitting down. Out of nowhere, a bouncing ball appeared as he began playing with it like earlier.

Though not without saying a few words that made Rael freeze in place.

“Enjoy that skill of mine. I don’t remember the last time I truly used it. I assume one of your resources was used as compensation in exchange for acquiring that skill, so I truly hope it was worth it, Rael Altros.”

“…”

This bastard… Rael clenched his fists. He used a decoy skill? And who just has Divine-ranked decoy skills lying around? Fuck…

Turning around, Rael stomped away from the cell and past Vatyra. He had been played, and all the while, he thought he was ahead.

But clearly, since the moment he had arrived in the Willow Realm, no, rather, from the moment he arrived on this continent, Lucien had already been well aware of him.

And it pained him even more so when he knew he had no way of killing Lucien. He just had to sit by and take it on the chin because of how deeply rooted Lucien’s relationship was with the Supreme Monsters.

However, even if Rael was backing down now, he was only biding his time. When an opportunity presents itself, Rael would be the first one to take it and kill Lucien.

He walked back to the area where he had come from, and even then, he could still hear Lucien rhythmically playing with the bouncing ball, almost as if he were mocking him.

Rael clicked his tongue and shot a glance at Vatyra. She had a slightly conflicted look, because obviously, she heard what Lucien had said, so she also knew what Rael had done just now.

But I doubt she’s soft enough to get offended by that. If anything, as long as I don’t directly attack him, she shouldn’t intervene, Rael thought, stopping abruptly as a doorway appeared in front of him.

It wouldn’t be the last time Rael saw Lucien, and if fate worked as it always had, then he was certain by the time the succession ceremony begins, Lucien would be there, ready to steal the spotlight.

Rael shook his head, putting those irritating thoughts to the back of his mind as he gave Vatyra a nod.

“When we’re out, you can teach me that technique of yours. After that, I’m likely going to go back to my world,” he said, inching closer to the doorway.

“But of course, I’m open to having a traveling companion. It’s not like you have anything better to do than sleep or eat. If you join me, you can eat, sleep, and travel. That’s a little fun, no?”

It was a total shot in the dark, and as Vatyra opened her mouth to answer, Rael raised his hand, stopping her.

“Think about it. Give me the answer after you teach me your technique.”

Then, without wasting another second, he gave her a smile and entered through the doorway.
