Chapter 312: End Of The World [PART 2]
Zhao Tianling was flying around when she suddenly slowed down.
Her nose twitched slightly, and her expression grew serious. “Demon god bloodline? What is that freak doing here?” she wondered aloud.
“Could it be that he’s here for me?” The thought crossed her mind, but she quickly dismissed it. There was no way the demon god could have known she would end up in this place, even with his power. That was simply impossible.
Unless it was someone else pursuing her. When this thought entered her mind, she saw a vision of a woman walking through snow. The woman slowly turned around to look at her, and Tianling’s face paled.
“No, I shouldn’t…” she whispered urgently.
She quickly pressed her hand against her forehead. If she thought about that person, it would be game over. Without hesitation, she erased all memories from the past minute, wiping them completely from her mind.
She breathed heavily, looking around in confusion. “What happened?” she wondered, placing her hand on her head again. “I wiped my memories…” She realized, and her expression became serious. “Then I should leave this place immediately,” she thought as she shot into the sky.
As she flew through the air, she reflected that this place was far more dangerous than she had initially thought. To think she would resort to wiping her own memories.
This meant that the threat was beyond serious. She used a mind technique to force herself to focus, deliberately avoiding any attempt to remember or figure out what she had erased.
At least not now.
As she flew, she suddenly noticed something in the distance.
“Hmm? What’s that? A huge mushroom? Wait, mushroom?” Her expression instantly changed to pure terror, and she spun around, flying desperately in the opposite direction.
But it was already too late.
“Dammit, this body is too weak,” she cursed as she felt the shockwave from the explosion racing toward her.
“Dammit, it’s been so long since I’ve gotten another chance. I won’t let it end like this,” she thought with determination.
Dark miasma erupted from her body. Her skin began to heat up and bubble violently, then started twisting and writhing until it became completely fluid.
Her entire body rolled itself into a tight ball, the dark miasma hardening around her like armor, forming a protective shell.
At that exact moment, the shockwave from the explosion caught up to her. The blast tore through the area, completely disintegrating some trees on the spot while others were uprooted and hurled through the air like missiles.
…
As the aftermath of the blast finally settled, a black sphere rose slowly from the rubble.
The hardened shell developed hairline cracks that spread across its surface before splitting open.
From within the cocoon, Tianling emerged and collapsed onto the ground, crawling forward on trembling hands and knees.
“I survived,” she thought in relief.
“What was that anyway? I’ve spent almost all my remaining power.”
“Dammit, I’ll need to go into hibernation for at least another thousand years.”
As her crawling became slower and weaker, she managed a tired smile. “Well, no matter. I’ve waited a million years, what’s a couple thousand more?” she said aloud, her voice growing fainter. “It’s just a pity about the heavenly dao body…”
As she spoke these words, she suddenly froze mid-sentence. Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief. “What’s that?” she wondered, staring at something lying just ahead of her.
Before her lay a dark purple core-like object, pulsing with energy every few seconds.
She forced herself to exert what little strength remained, dragging her exhausted body forward. When she finally reached the mysterious item, her expression brightened.
“Kekeke, looks like even the sages are on my side. It’s actually a demonic immortal treasure!” Her voice bubbled with excitement.
“And with the amount of demonic energy stored here… kekeke!” She began laughing maniacally, the sound echoing eerily through the landscape.
She thought to herself that with this treasure and the demonic energy contained within it, although she wouldn’t be able to reach anywhere near her peak power, she should at least be able to achieve the level of a pseudo immortal. Looking closer at the treasure, it appeared to be a devouring type, designed to siphon spiritual energy from its surroundings.
She laughed even more.
With this artifact, combined with her world devouring scripture, she could consume this entire low-level world to become a genuine immortal. Then the heavenly dao body would be hers. So what if that girl was strong? What could she possibly do against a true immortal?
She stretched out her trembling hand and grasped the purple orb. The moment her fingers made contact, she felt the immortal treasure resist her influence, fighting against her control.
She smiled knowingly.
“As expected of an immortal treasure, it has quite the attitude.” Her tone shifted to become serious and authoritative. “But I prefer you didn’t have an attitude.”
She channeled her remaining power to use a mind ability. Instantly, the treasure became docile and compliant.
“Don’t worry,” she spoke to the artifact. “I won’t be using you to steal just some energy like your previous owner. You and I are going to devour it all.”
The treasure seemed convinced by her words and dove directly into her chest, merging with her body. Dark tendrils began covering her form, writhing and shifting before gathering together and transforming into a purple outfit that clung to her like a second skin.
She rose up into the air.
She clenched and unclenched her fists experimentally to test out her newfound power.
The strength was slightly less than she had expected – it seemed the treasure had used some of its stored energy to protect itself from the earlier explosion.
Well, no matter. This level of power was at the Mahayana realm which would suffice for now.
She gazed out over the vast landscape before her, a sinister smile spreading across her face.
“And then there was darkness”
Instantly, darkness began spreading from the horizon, starting to fill the sky as if forming a massive dome.
In just a few seconds, the entire mortal world was plunged into complete and utter darkness.
Meanwhile, somewhere else entirely, in a place constructed entirely of snow and ice that stretched out infinitely in all directions, a woman slowly opened her eyes, a knowing smile crossing her lips.
“Now how will you deal with this?”
