Chapter 382: Chapter 19: Adventurers and the Adventurer Tavern
It has been several years since Teresa’s wedding, yet Sirius still seems to harbor resentment about it, especially seeing her bustling about in the tavern now, which makes him think it was a foolish decision.
Sirius said, “If Teresa and they hadn’t retired back then, by now, they might have been promoted to the Platinum level. What a pity!”
Triss said, “I think they’re actually doing pretty well.”
Thanks to her extraordinary attributes, time seemed to have left very few marks on Triss, and she still appeared youthful and beautiful.
Having spent years in Feiyan City, accumulating numerous tasks, her adventure level had reached the Silver Level, and she had become quite a famous thief in the Adventurer Guild, even earning the nickname Thorn Flower.
Triss looked at the busy Teresa with soft eyes and said, “Two people running a tavern together, drinking and chatting with customers every day, no longer fighting those disgusting dead spirits in the Underground City, raising a pair of children, watching them grow up slowly before their eyes.”
“Isn’t this kind of life good?”
Her voice carried obvious warmth and even a hint of envy as she spoke.
After a pause, she turned her head to look at Sirius, and said, “But you, you’re not getting any younger. Do you plan to spend your whole life lingering in the Underground City?”
In the blink of an eye, Sirius was already a young man in his late twenties, his skin not as delicate as before, and a stubble had appeared around his mouth.
Yet his personality hadn’t changed one bit, and he was very satisfied with his current life.
He raised an oak cup and said, “Of course!”
“We’re adventurers, do you know what an adventurer is? The Underground City is our eternal home, and the tavern is the remedy to soothe our weary souls.”
“I will hold my sword and keep fighting tirelessly until the day I can no longer wield it!”
“Grave and all that is necessary, the best way to die is to rest eternally in the Underground City, serving as a landmark for future adventurers.”
Alright, hearing him say that sounds quite romantic.
But for Triss, it was rather annoying: “You go and die!”
The two of them quickly started arguing.
Lynch had known them for several years now, and from his observations, it seemed that Triss might… perhaps… somewhat have feelings for Sirius?
It’s not surprising; Wizards are human too, they have emotions and desires. Triss and Sirius often teamed up to adventure in the Underground City; their relationship has grown beyond a year or two, and developing feelings from being together day in and day out is completely normal.
However, this is destined to not end well; one is a transcendent, the other is an ordinary person… There are examples of extraordinary and ordinary people combining in the Wizard World, but the endings are always not good…
Hilia said, “The two of you, why do you start arguing every time I see you?”
Sirius shrugged, “I can’t help it; she’s so troublesome.”
After a moment, he turned his head to Lynch and said, “You don’t believe me? Ask Leggo, right Leggo?”
“Haha!”
Lynch just chuckled and made a face of disinterest.
“Ladies and gentlemen, how is the service today?”
Right then, Teresa walked over and asked everyone.
After a few years, the Teresa before them had completely transformed into a middle-aged woman, wearing an apron, a headscarf, and her figure had begun to plump and change. If not for her ice-blue eyes, it would be hard to link her to the once formidable Golden Swordsman in the Underground City.
Lynch nodded, “Quite satisfactory.”
Sirius said helplessly, “Please, aren’t you the Ice Swordsman? Doesn’t doing this feel degrading?”
“Haha!”
Teresa laughed heartily, “This isn’t the first time you’ve asked me this; every time you drink here, you need to ask. Little Sirius, how many times do I need to answer you?”
“I’m doing well, really feeling great!”
“Don’t think I’ve lost anything; fame and strength are nothing but fleeting clouds. My lover by my side and children under me are my ultimate destination.”
“Bury the name of Ice Swordsman in history; here, there is just a tavern owner serving drinks.”
Triss was visibly touched, obviously moved.
But Sirius just held his head in a display of distress and dissatisfaction.
Lynch continued drinking.
“Woof Woof!”
Right then, a few dog barks sounded, and Teresa’s pet dog Snow Wolf Xue Lier squeezed over, using its mouth to pull at Teresa’s clothing, signaling her to go over there.
This powerful magic pet naturally retired along with the Wind Frost Adventure Team, and now is one of the mascots and security members of the Sword and Snowflake Tavern. If someone causes trouble, its job is to subdue them and throw them out.
“Alright, everyone enjoy, I need to get busy now.”
Teresa picked up the plates on the table and prepared to walk out, but after taking a few steps, she seemed to have thought of something, turned her head to Hilia and asked, “Oh, Hilia, there’s something I want to ask you.”
Hilia said, “Please go ahead.”
Teresa said, “Does your Light Church need more personnel? Lately, I’ve had some customers who came from out of town, recently settled down in Feiyan City, and registered as adventurers not long ago.”
“They’re all transcendent, so they want to find an extraordinary influence to join, so I’m asking for them.”
Lynch curiously asked, “Transcendent?”
Transcendent is such a precious resource, usually they belong to their own influence. The transcendent from his Witch Domain since its establishment were mostly cultivated internally, absorbing external transcendent was extremely rare.
He couldn’t help but ask, “Did they mention where they’re from?”
Teresa shook her head: “No, but their accent and attire don’t seem to be from the Jade Land, and when talking to them, it seems they wandered from a very distant place, saying they were forced to flee due to pursuit.”
Grey Wizard? Wandering Wizard?
Hilia said hesitantly, “If it’s a normal believer, the church would accept them, but without identity…”
Lynch said, “You can go back and ask.”
He recalled considering the situation of receiving external transcendents before, and had established corresponding handling mechanisms.
Transcendent is a valuable resource, you definitely can’t turn away resources that come knocking.
Hilia nodded, “That’s true. Alright, I’ll ask later.”
