Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 600: Familiar Face

“You know how?” Saul was delighted.

“Don’t underestimate me, Brother Saul. I’ve also set up quite powerful magical formations before. Moreover, the rules contained in this light curtain happen to be the same as the nightmare butterfly’s innate power.”

“Then give it a try.” Saul raised his hand.

The silver butterfly transformed into scattered glimmers, sparkling as they merged into the light curtain.

In less than five minutes, the originally brilliant light curtain turned into equally scattered fragments, revealing the scene behind.

Inside the light curtain was a circular space.

The four walls of the space were also surrounded by light curtains, but the mountain body connected above had dozens of round holes carved into it.

Sunlight shone down, forming slender beams of light.

At the center surrounded by these irregularly scattered light beams stood a huge cube over two meters tall.

It was precisely the magic reservoir Wind Sprite had stolen from Saul.

At this moment, the magic reservoir had Brando’s headless corpse bound to the side facing Saul.

The body had already turned completely black, as if it had been smoked and scorched.

The other two sides of the magic reservoir also seemed to have something bound to them.

Saul crossed the light curtain and walked around the magic reservoir. To his shock, he discovered that the other three sides of the magic reservoir that Wind Sprite had modified all had a person embedded in them!

The left and right sides each had a first-rank wizard, while the back of the magic reservoir had none other than Wizard Baron, who had escaped from the wizard tower!

“It’s him?” Saul’s expression was strange. Baron was the only one among the second-rank wizards who attacked the wizard tower to return alive, yet unexpectedly he died at his master’s hands.

However, if Wind Sprite wanted to build a magic reservoir, using second-rank wizards was normal. He just hadn’t expected her to be ruthless enough to act against her own people.

“This way I can reunite them.”

Saul took out the corpses of the other two from the attack on the wizard tower from his storage.

Though one was severely damaged, it could still be barely used.

Saul replaced them with these two second-rank wizard corpses and began operating the magic reservoir.

Agu separated from his body to assist, checking the magic reservoir’s condition together with him.

Penny flew to the light curtain entrance to stand guard, ready to immediately notify Saul once the Old Witch and Wind Sprite returned.

Everything proceeded smoothly according to Saul’s plan. The only thing that seemed somewhat strange was that this magic reservoir contained less energy than expected.

Saul thought that when a third-rank wizard’s body had problems and wanted to recover, it would require massive amounts of magical power.

But while this magic reservoir’s magical power was abundant, it was far less than what Saul had imagined.

Originally, Saul had prepared that if the magic reservoir had too much magical power for him to handle, he would need to perform several “flood releases.”

But the current amount was just right.

It didn’t seem like a magic reservoir prepared by a third-rank wizard, but rather what a second-rank wizard would need.

Though still harboring doubts, time was pressing. After readjusting the magic reservoir according to his needs, Saul immediately jumped in and had Agu cooperate from outside to activate the array.

Just as Saul began preparing for advancement, the Old Witch had already chased Wind Sprite to the end of the left passage.

Throughout the journey, Wind Sprite had never directly confronted the Old Witch, seeming to confirm what Saul had said—her body now had serious problems.

The Old Witch grew braver as she pursued, and the two reached the deepest part of the cave.

Wind Sprite, watching the magic the Old Witch cast, became increasingly puzzled.

Though the magic the other party used were all the most common types, her casting habits and that kind of bearing always made Wind Sprite feel familiar.

As if facing someone very familiar.

“Why won’t you engage? Have you really lost third-rank strength? Or can you no longer suppress the pollution in your body, and casting spells would cause direct mutation?”

Wind Sprite’s gaze instantly turned icy, but she still didn’t respond to the Old Witch’s provocation, instead deliberately leading her into a new room.

Normally, before entering an unknown room, one should be cautious and test multiple times. But somehow the Old Witch felt this place was very familiar, with everything under control.

Wind Sprite had the same perception.

Almost everything in this room had been arranged by her, so naturally she believed nothing could exceed her control.

After entering this room, the door instantly sealed shut. Both looked up, simultaneously regarding each other with “you’re dead” expressions.

Wind Sprite stepped back, as if stepping on some mechanism.

Asymmetric three-circle magical arrays simultaneously appeared above her head and below her feet.

The two arrays shot out blue light beams, surrounding Wind Sprite’s entire body.

Seeing Wind Sprite about to use a new trick, the Old Witch immediately stepped forward to strike first.

Who knew the blue light beams would suddenly expand outward, instantly growing tenfold and filling the entire room.

The moment the Old Witch was illuminated by the blue light, all disguises on her face completely disappeared, revealing that exaggeratedly proportioned face and the lively severed finger behind her head.

“So it’s you!” Recognizing the Old Witch and seeing the severed finger behind her head, Wind Sprite’s hatred intensified threefold.

“Today you must stay here. After you die, I’ll deal with the other one.”

The Old Witch, whose disguise had failed, was somewhat panicked, but she quickly realized that whether she was recognized or not, both sides had already reached a fight to the death.

Strangely, even after recognizing the Old Witch, Wind Sprite still didn’t actively attack. The blue light curtain just now seemed to only have the effect of breaking illusions.

Just as the Old Witch prepared to release wind blades to first test the other party’s condition, a body seemingly assembled from building blocks suddenly emerged from the magical array overhead and descended to mid-air.

When the Old Witch clearly saw the humanoid figure floating in mid-air, she was immediately so surprised her mouth couldn’t close, let alone continue attacking Wind Sprite.

It was a beautiful woman with slightly upturned eye corners and a faint arc at the corners of her mouth.

When she lay there quietly with eyes gently closed, it only made one feel peaceful and beautiful.

People could also imagine what kind of captivating charm she would radiate when she opened her eyes.

But this woman’s face was covered with vertical and horizontal lines, as if she had once been dismembered and then reassembled with special adhesive.

Though beauty and fragility coexisted, what truly surprised the Old Witch was that she had seen this face before.

Previously, every time she used the Baisec Magic Mirror to enhance her strength, she would see this face in the mirror.

This face belonged to the Old Witch in the mirror, only without so many cracks on the face.

At the same time, this body was missing a section of the left pinky finger.

Looking at this face, the Old Witch was confused.

In her mind, countless information signals seemed to be jumping, but none would fully reveal themselves to her brain.

“Why does it feel so familiar, as if she’s myself?”

While the Old Witch was dazed, Wind Sprite across from her completed her final spellcasting.

“Since you’ve already seen, I can’t let you leave alive. I can only borrow this body again.” Wind Sprite bit her finger and dripped blood on the broken woman’s forehead. “Believe me, I don’t want to see this face any more than you do!”
