Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 591: Fierce Battle

For a moment, the wizard who couldn’t break free from Little Algae was sent flying in a tremendous collision sound!

But before she could fly far, she was blocked by a giant mushroom that had somehow moved behind her.

The wizard wasn’t severely injured. As soon as she stabilized, she immediately prepared to get up, but she discovered her body was covered with a lot of slippery powder.

The Old Witch’s next round of attacks had already arrived. The wizard had no time to clean the powder from her body. She suddenly brought her hands together in front of her, and an incantation so fast it was almost inaudible rang out.

Then the wizard shook her hands, moving them in wave-like motions.

A massive wind wave carrying the roar of seawater surged toward the Old Witch.

Seeing the opponent’s magical power fluctuations like a newly formed hurricane, the Old Witch had no intention of dodging. Instead, she bared her teeth fiercely and let out a sharp, piercing howl.

“Screeeee——”

The invisible air wall in front of her instantly deformed.

The violent air blast rushed toward the Old Witch but suddenly turned a corner, actually being redirected back toward the wizard by the arc-shaped air wall.

To redirect such intense wind waves required more stable magical power. The Old Witch’s face turned pale, but her fierce smile didn’t disappear, making her look even more hideous.

Seeing she was about to be hit by her own magic, the wizard quickly stopped casting and switched to an instantly castable jump spell, directly bouncing up from the ground.

Just after she dodged, the giant mushroom trees behind her were blown about by the hurricane, some even uprooted.

The Old Witch made a “tch” sound. “How stupid. Can you blow a wizard to death just by blowing?”

The wizard, who had just leaped into mid-air, twitched at the corner of her mouth. “Don’t you also major in wind attributes?”

Halfway through her words, she saw the Old Witch throw a black object at her.

The wizard was very cautious and casually struck it down without letting it approach.

As soon as she destroyed that unknown black object, it suddenly exploded and emitted a string of sparks.

But the explosion intensity was too small—even if the wizard didn’t deploy defenses, she could withstand it with her physical body.

“She couldn’t be doing something so useless!” The wizard looked down, noticed the large amount of white powder on her clothes from the mushroom, and immediately cast a cleaning spell.

However, as soon as the white powder left her clothes, it suddenly self-ignited.

“Very low ignition point. Does she really think she can burn me with this stuff?” Thinking of the Old Witch powerful enough to redirect her attacks, the wizard didn’t dare take it lightly.

She immediately opened her mouth and spat out a magical tool.

This magical tool looked like a key and had limited uses. If not for facing a troublesome enemy, she would normally never want to take it out.

Most importantly, using this tool would worsen the pollution in her body.

The moment she took out the tool, the Old Witch was already a dead person in the wizard’s eyes.

The wizard turned the key around and inserted it into her chest, glaring viciously at the Old Witch.

“I won’t wait until you’ve released all your ultimate moves before trying to avoid them.” The wizard knew the Old Witch’s series of actions might all be preparing for some attack.

But as long as she eliminated the person before they could use their ultimate move, there would be no ultimate move.

The key entered her chest, and the blood from the wound was quickly absorbed by the key.

The original brass color instantly turned red. The wizard’s arms grew metal feathers in the blink of an eye as she dove toward the Old Witch.

The sharp metal wings collided with each other, producing equally sharp sounds.

The air barrier began trembling with strange frequency sounds almost the moment of contact.

After persisting only a few seconds, the barrier harder than city walls inexplicably shattered with a crash.

The Old Witch raised her eyebrows. “Somewhat interesting.”

Then she patted the wolf’s head. “Gram! Run quickly!”

The magic wolf, which had been growling at the diving wizard, twisted its waist, turned, and ran, seemingly wanting to escape the wizard’s quite extraordinary magical tool by hiding in Rhine Lake.

But the wizard wouldn’t give the Old Witch a chance to escape. Taking advantage of her aerial flight, she rushed to the open space between the Old Witch and Rhine Lake before the Old Witch could reach it.

She spread her arms and shook again.

Shrieking sounds arose.

This time, the air between them was visibly distorted.

Just as that terrifying fluctuation was about to hit the Old Witch, the wizard suddenly felt something strange behind her.

It was a very odd feeling of emptiness.

The wizard couldn’t describe it clearly, but her intuition told her something was wrong.

She half-turned her head, straining her eyes toward the corners to try to see what was happening behind her.

But the next second, she suddenly felt something strike her back.

That thing penetrated her defensive magic, penetrated her mage robes inscribed with numerous magical arrays and penetrated her skin that had been soaked in various constitution potions.

“Puff!”

A sharp arrow pierced through the wizard’s back and emerged from her heart!

At the same time, the metal feathers on the wizard’s body suddenly retracted into her skin.

“Flight spell!”

“No, levitation spell!”

The battle-hardened wizard remained relatively calm. After losing her wings, she immediately tried to use magic to fly away.

However, her magic, even 0-rank magic, now had no response whatsoever.

The magical power in her body was completely frozen as if encased in ice, completely ignoring her commands.

The wizard fell from over five meters high with a “thud.”

Face first!

The Old Witch watched with bared teeth, feeling delighted. “You guessed I had a backup plan but still dared to turn your back to the wizard tower!”

The Old Witch looked smug on the surface but was somewhat displeased in her heart: “That stinky boy guessed it again. The person who came here is not a fool. Seeing my strange behavior, he must be cautious. Once I fall into a disadvantage, I will pretend to run away immediately.”

At the same time, she looked at the arrow embedded in the wizard’s back, feeling somewhat apprehensive.

“The brat said even if enemies appear dead, we can’t relax our guard. Strike three more times first.”

The Old Witch didn’t approach but rubbed out over a dozen transparent wind blades with her hands, then waved them. The transparent wind blades flew toward the wizard with soft humming.

And indeed, the wizard hadn’t truly fainted.

She supported herself with both hands and immediately rolled to the side.

The wind blades silently pierced the ground, leaving several gashes in the earth.

When the wizard looked up again, her face was disheveled. She used brute force to pull out the arrow from her chest and threw it aside.

As the arrow left her body, her magical power began surging again.

“You’ve actually mastered the method of Rhine Lake’s magic prohibition!”

The arrow fell to the ground and quickly broke into several pieces, completely unable to show the terrible ability that had just pierced through the wizard like breaking through bamboo.

The cross-sections were semi-transparent, and water droplets quickly condensed on the breaks.

This arrow was actually made of ice inside.

The Old Witch lifted her chin. “Of course. Do you think we’ve been sleeping the whole time we’ve lived here?”

The magic wolf seemed to understand and wanted to look back in confusion, but was held down by the Old Witch to prevent movement.

The wizard looked at the Old Witch again, her eyes now full of wariness, thinking: So the earlier ignition was just a signal. Whether I used the magical tool or not, they would have released magic-prohibiting arrows at me.

Though the wizard relied on her strength and wouldn’t die, she was also severely injured.

She had no intention of continuing to entangle with the Old Witch and only wanted to leave quickly.

It was just somewhat strange that after the Old Witch’s initial supplementary wind blade attack, she never attacked the weakened wizard again.

The two still maintained distance, as if fearing the wizard still had backup plans.

However, this also facilitated the wizard’s escape attempt.

But just as she gathered her magical power, her entire body suddenly shook again.

She looked down incredulously, staring at the red key on her chest.

The red key was now so red it was turning black, flashing with eerie light.

“Impossible, impossible.” The wizard couldn’t care about escaping. She grabbed the key on her chest with both hands, trying to pull it out.

But the key didn’t budge and continued turning redder… or rather, blacker.

“That key is sucking her blood.”

The wizard could no longer care about the Old Witch. Her face had already turned terrifyingly pale.

“Impossible. It clearly hasn’t reached the limit yet. How could it suddenly backlash?”
