Chapter 1302: 319: Kill two birds with one stone
Other than feeling foolish,
Mo Baichuan also felt a pang of discomfort, steeped in regret.
If only he hadn’t been so arrogant back then and had fought for her, perhaps the person by Ni Yang’s side now wouldn’t be Mo Qishen.
He was the one who met Ni Yang first.
Countless times, in the quiet of the night, he would dream of that scene.
But unfortunately, life doesn’t grant “what ifs”; it only delivers consequences and outcomes.
No matter how much he regrets it, none of this can be undone or relived.
Ni Yang reached out to take Mo Zhiyuan into her arms. “Come, let your Sixth Aunt hold you.”
Mo Zhiyuan was very fond of Ni Yang and beamed brightly with joy.
Zhao Jingrong walked over from the side, concealing all traces of frustration as she said, “Sixth Uncle, Sixth Aunt, have some fruit.”
Ever since Mo Qishen had resolutely rejected Zhao Jingrong the last time, she had been behaving herself for the past few days, waiting for the right moment.
Among everyone, Zhao Jingrong could hardly stand Ni Yang the most now.
If it weren’t for Ni Yang stealing Mo Qishen away, the one standing beside him now would be her.
Mo Qishen was supposed to be her fiancé!
How could he turn around and marry someone else so suddenly?
Why?
Hidden within her sleeve, Zhao Jingrong’s hand clenched tightly into a fist. She swore to herself that she would find a way to drive Ni Yang away.
Definitely!
Mo Qishen casually picked a grape from the fruit platter. With deliberate care, he peeled its skin. Grapes were not easy to peel—they were tougher and harder than regular ones, which was why Ni Yang rarely ate them.
The grape skin that was normally so problematic obediently surrendered under Mo Qishen’s deft fingers. Before long, a translucent, gleaming grape appeared between his fingertips.
“Taste it, see if it’s sweet.” Mo Qishen held out the peeled grape to Ni Yang’s lips.
“Sweet.” Ni Yang nodded after taking a bite.
Upon hearing this, Mo Qishen continued peeling more grapes. In no time, he had peeled an entire plate and placed it in front of Ni Yang.
Zhao Jingrong watched all of this unfold, feeling an unbearable pang of bitterness in her chest.
This kind of pampering was supposed to be hers, but now it was all being stolen by Ni Yang.
Mo Qishen belonged to her.
Even the grapes belonged to her.
Everything was meant to be hers!
Ni Yang turned her gaze to Zhao Jingrong, a faint smile lingering in her eyes.
She could naturally sense Zhao Jingrong’s hostility toward her.
Mo Qishen used to be Zhao Jingrong’s fiancé, but because Zhao Jingrong looked down on people and failed to see Mo Qishen’s hidden power, she ended up missing out on him. No wonder she was miserable inside now.
At least Zhao Jingrong hadn’t provoked her for the time being.
If Zhao Jingrong dared to start trouble, Ni Yang certainly wasn’t someone to mess with easily.
Zhao Jingrong nervously averted her eyes, afraid that Ni Yang might have seen through her. She reached a hand out toward Mo Zhiyuan. “Zhiyuan, come to Mommy. Don’t tire your Sixth Aunt out.”
“No… No…” Mo Zhiyuan turned his head away, clinging tightly to Ni Yang’s neck.
Zhao Jingrong’s face darkened slightly as she reached out to carry Mo Zhiyuan herself. “Zhiyuan, it’s time for your meal.”
Ni Yang was utterly shameless! Not only had she stolen Mo Qishen, but now she was eyeing her son as well!
Her possessions, even the ones she didn’t like or didn’t want anymore, would never be handed over to someone else so easily.
Mo Zhiyuan pouted, his lips trembling as if he were about to cry. But upon seeing Zhao Jingrong’s stern face, he quickly held back his tears.
Zhao Jingrong carried Mo Zhiyuan upstairs, only returning around mealtime.
When she came down alone, Mo Matriarch was slightly puzzled and asked, “Jingrong, where’s Zhiyuan?”
Zhao Jingrong smiled politely and replied, “He just drank some milk and fell asleep.”
Mo Matriarch nodded. “All right then. It’s time to eat, have a seat.”
Zhao Jingrong settled herself on the sofa.
After the meal, Ni Yang and Mo Qishen went back to their room.
Though they were staying at the Manor now, the Mo Family had still prepared rooms specifically for the two of them.
That morning, Marcus had delivered a computer, and Mo Qishen was busy installing it.
Computers at this time were rather cumbersome and complex to set up. Just the monitor alone weighed dozens of pounds, far from the sleek LCD screens and lightweight laptops of the future.
Back then, though computers existed, the internet hadn’t yet become widespread—files were transferred using 1.44 MB floppy disks.
The internet wouldn’t start to be formally popularized until around 1994.
However, many Western countries were already using it extensively.
Despite the lack of internet, computers still had plenty of uses—playing games, watching videos, or even movies.
“What’s this? A camera lens?” Ni Yang curiously picked up an object that looked almost like a flashlight.
Mo Qishen nodded in affirmation.
Ni Yang examined it closely and realized the camera was surprisingly advanced—she froze briefly in surprise!
