Chapter 1425: Chapter 1426: I’m Type O Blood, Draw Mine
Director Liang, seeing her deep concern for her daughter, empathized and comforted her, “Lady Lin, don’t worry, our deputy hospital director will be back soon. His expertise in surgery is world-class, your daughter will definitely be fine.”
After comforting Su Yi, she then explained to Su Yi the precautions for blood transfusion and the situations in which blood cannot be drawn from a donor.
Ironically, Su Yi fell into one of those categories. She had taken antibiotics for a cold a few days ago, and in principle, she could not donate blood to Lin Wan.
“Are you sure it’s not possible?”
Just missing by a little, and suddenly being told she could not donate blood, Su Yi became anxious like an ant on a hot pan, repeatedly confirming with Director Liang.
Director Liang hadn’t expected her to have taken antibiotics in the past few days and regretfully said, “I’m sorry, Lady Lin, if your blood doesn’t meet the standards, I recommend you best not do it.”
Though Su Yi felt disappointed, she did not insist, “I’ll listen to you.”
Director Liang softly consoled, “Lady Lin, don’t worry, I’ll immediately check if there is any O-type blood plasma available in the blood bank.”
“Okay.”
As Su Yi waited in agonizing suspense, the nurse who had gone to check the blood bank finally returned. However, she brought back bad news.
“Director, what do we do about the critical shortage of O-type blood in the blood bank?”
“How could that be?”
“Last night, there were two major surgeries, and both patients needed O-type blood. We used quite a bit of the inventory, and by this morning, the blood bank was low on supplies. Personnel from the blood bank department contacted the city hospital and arranged for blood to be transferred this afternoon, but it just so happened to be needed now. Should I call the city hospital to urge them to send the blood over sooner?”
“It’ll be too late,” Director Liang furrowed his eyebrows and asked, “How much O-type blood do we have left?”
“100…”
She seemed surprised, expressing shockingly, “Only that much left?”
The nurse helplessly nodded, “Yes, Director, the blood bank has only 100CC left. What should we do, should we broadcast around the hospital to see if any volunteers are willing to donate?”
Su Yi, hearing their conversation, felt her heart that had just calmed, suddenly race again; she had never expected a minor surgery to become so fraught with complications, and any further delay might indeed endanger Lin Wan’s life.
Just as she hesitated whether to call Lin Teng, who was currently reviewing military exercises, a voice suddenly interjected.
“Need O-type blood? I’m O-type, take mine.”
Su Yi abruptly turned around and saw Chu Xi walking against the light, her slender figure exceptionally captivating. Her wrist was still wrapped in a bandage, apparently having just been treated.
Upon seeing her, Director Liang smiled and approached Su Yi to introduce, “Lady Lin, this lady is the one who brought your daughter to the hospital. She had just gone to get her fractured wrist bandaged and I didn’t have the chance to introduce her earlier.”
Chu Xi gave a soft smile, kindly looking at Su Yi, “No introduction needed, I know Lady Lin.”
“Auntie, nice to see you again.”
When Su Yi came to the hospital, she had heard that a kind soul had brought Lin Wan to the hospital, but she never expected that it would coincidentally be Chu Xi. She was at a loss for what facial expression to put on, and stood there stupefied.
Fortunately, Chu Xi, well-aware of social cues, greeted her and then turned to the doctor with a graceful smile, “Just need O-type blood? I’m O-type, take mine.”
